I carry a 6" stainless Taurus revolver as more of a backup. I have been wanting to take a deer with it but the opportunity never seems to present itself when I have it with me. The one I love to carry is my Encore 15" in 308 Win. I didn't take it our this year becasue of the Filed to Fork people I had out. I figured I'd be better served if I was needed for a back up with my rifle.

I don't think that would change the poundage would it? I thought that was just for travel. The Dukes I have all have a nut and bolt that can adjust the pan tension. Some I believe had carbon steel nuts and bolts and switching to the brass keeps them from rusting and increasing the tension.

Some of the smaller banquets are much faster. Which one were you going to?

I am on my phone so I can figure out how to cut and paste from the QDMA site. It’s under the “join” button. Magazine, DVD and a grunt call and some other stuff I can’t remember. We bear all the membership costs for the kids. The meal alone is over $50 and the Rack Pack membership is $25. Kids ticket I think is $40. Every kid attending gets into a hunting implement drawing at no cost. Usually about 12-17 attending. Last year was a 22. Pointer his year is something we’ve never had for the kids before.
-
It’s mandated that everyone attending gets a membership. So the single ticket includes the meal and the membership. Actually the branch is eating some of the cost to try and keep the ticket prices down.

How old is he? The youth get a Rack pack membership. It’s geared towards kids

I’ll get a list from Moog and get you all at the same table. We have some outstanding items this year. Right now it looks like 22 firearms that includes one bow and crossbow. We may have even more stringed implements coming as well if a few deals come through. Keep and eye out on the banquet post in our section. I am going to start putting up some of the prizes from Feb 14 until banquet day. Don’t forget the General raffle ticket packages as well. Talk to Moog and Nomad about that raffle. Includes at least 45 package prizes with a min retail of almost $150 each. Usually has at least 4 guns. I know there will also be a Barnett crossbow. Tree stands and a host of other prizes. It’s a 2 for 1 early bird.

You think National would see that as a legitimate expense? Lol

Soy, Corn, PTT Seed questions

Check with the NWTF branch near you. They typically have good member seals on round up ready corn, that is why we have stayed away from the corn. -

Yeah. Early bird ins't even over until February 22nd. I think it is going to be our biggest the way ticket sales have jumped off so early. https://www.qdma.com/get-involved/events/action~agenda/page_offset~1/request_format~html/ Look for the Greater Rochester event on March 14th and all the ticket info is there. They are available online. We get that info and your tickets are waiting at the door to the ballroom at check in. -

Soy, Corn, PTT Seed questions
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Geno C's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Soybeans through QDMA seed program at $11 a bag. Hard to beat that price. Just need to be a member and those attending banquets get first dibs. Twin Tier Branch in Corning area is probably the closest to you Geno. -

Dino, Where are you actually located? I'd love to tag along on a check day to observe if you ever have the time. -
When I was doing all the reading on Fishers I remember seeing an article about a stomach survey done in PA. it was like 100 fishers and very few had bird remains and I don't think there was any turkey. The survey was in summer and it did say the results could vary if done at the time of the year that poults could not fly yet. I found it interesting that the #1 stomach content was deer. probably scavenged but they did say that a full grown male could take a newborn fawn. The other contents were mostly rodents and the porcupines. I found it interesting that they also found remains of other fishers I guess since the deer is such a large part of the diet I can understand why some of the fisher trappers I have seen comment on using deer roadkill parts for bait.
