  1. But they will march their feet bloody at a pro-choice rally.
  2. I should have added this before now. On January 12th we had the culinary social for the Field to Fork Program. I did a cured and smoked venison ham. Served it cold with a BBQ bourbon Jalapeno drizzle. The texture was just like ham and the taste was very similar. (not smoked but the jar is actually pickled heart)
  3. UHRV puts on a first class event. You won't be disappointed.
  4. Just wanted to give this a little bump since the mailer will be going out this week. Our ticket sales are going very well considering it's all early and the mailer isn't out yet. Early Bid deadline is Feb 22. Don't miss out. If we can get enough members on here to fill a table (10) I'll get one reserved so you all can sit together. Typically we don't 'do this but I figure that since I "know the guy" that can get it done, I might as well abuse my power. lol The selection for the gun board this year is just about complete. (this was last year's). BUT since we didn't have a chance to fully complete the game with the Patriotic Rifle last year, we are doing that again. The table raffle prizes have already arrived and this year looks like a very "cool" prize for sure https://secure3.convio.net/deer/site/Ticketing?view=Tickets&id=101761 This year we are trying to give those in a attendance more options for games to take part in. I will say that this year we will have more firearms than ever before.
  5. I'm on the fence but If he gets in based on 2 SB wins you gotta give Jim Plunkett a look then.
  6. I will say that some of you guys may be able to pull that off but I went with @moog5050 and he had his set up the same way. I needed a chiropractor the day after from bending down...lol
  7. There is no need to cut the hide or do anything special. You can feel the round lobe of the bottom of the sternum with your fingers. standing over the stomach area and facing the head, put your knife, tip down on a 45 degree angle and blade forward on one side or the other right next to that lobe. double handed with 3 upward strokes (more like brute slashes) and you are at the neck and totally through the rib cage. You'l know right away if you aren't following the correct line because you won't be able to pull it through the solid bone. We probably don't do enough videos of thing on this site. Maybe if I have someone with me next bow season I'll have them video the process I use. Others should do the same. There really isn't a right or wrong way to do any of this, including butchering. It's just the way that we are each comfortable with and what we probably grew up or got into the sport learning.
  8. There are jobs for anyone with a work ethic now. Unfortunately there are a lot employed in this encoring that should not be
  9. Congrats Biz. There really isn't a better feeling.
  10. At this time of year with breeding I wouldn't think a gland lure could hurt. Not to cover the human scent (that needs to be taken into consideration with the set up), but to just entice them a bit to maybe step out in the open.
  11. I have. It's the whole " huffing" craze. You know, the same group that eats Tide soap pods.
  12. what do you take out that can't be taken out through the insides?
  13. I split the breast bone if I am not mounting. There is no need whatsoever to carry a saw to do this. once you learn how to find the cartilage on the side of the breast bone it splits open easily with just a knife. I have never seen a need to split the pelvis. the intestines, colon and bladder are easily accessible without doing it. I debone while hanging on the gambrel and with a spit pelvis it is a pain.
  14. Oh you know to put a condom on it to keep it from getting moist ..lol I have hunting is all day down pours with my inline and if you keep the muzzle covers and a conscious about the in and out of heated and unheated areas to avoid condensation I can't see a need.
  15. But it is kind of weird that in some of the more liberal states it is legal in full or part. CT has areas that it is dump the corn and hunt right over it.
  16. I have yet to see one on any crossbow that I can fit my pack boots into. I am ok with my leather hunting boots but not my packs. Be a good aftermarket part.
  17. PM me if you get a chance. I'd like to pick up two of these for our QDMA branch banquet.
  18. I get what you are saying but EVERY year we have conversations on this forum about how to properly use tags in what seasons and what happens with Bow/ML tags. EVERY YEAR. and it isn't a conversation with just newbies and the "average guy" is less engaged than most members on here. I think the lack of knowledge of the laws really reared it's head when the state got rid of the small regulations guides and started putting out their advertisement publication (when you can even get them). I use to look forward to reading those little hunting and fishing books cover to cover.
  19. quite a few models of the Vortex have an illuminated reticle. Might be worth a gander.
  20. When I got engaged my father in law told us, "here's a check for $10,000. DO with it as you choose. You can elope and put it in the bank or spend the entire amount. Your choice" . She spent all of it and then some...lol.
  21. any of the natural changes are more gradual.
