  1. I guess my point is ....if you have Joe Generalpublic and he is swayed against hunting by the rantings or actions of one or a few.....Joe is probably against it anyway in his heart. I am sick of having to walk on egg shells through life for fear of what some sensative types may or may not think. Unless what I am doing is illegal....get out of my face. Don't expect me to change just because you have a dislike for any of my actions.
  2. the Govt did not build the cars when GM had their bail out but it damn sure held the purse strings and got thier noses in the operation there.
  3. Stop, please. "Whackmaster?" "Kill it and grill it?" "Whack 'em and stack 'em?" He is one of the most disrespectful that I have ever seen. Isn't it ashamed that reality has become politically incorrect
  4. Let me try this. The fines to an employeer for NOT providing a specified level of health care is less than the cost to provide it in many cases. Employeers are going to opt to pay the fine because it is more cost effective. the uncovered employees would then fall int to the govt program to assure everyone has coverage. This is a rather back door way to move this forward into a full govt run one payer system.
  5. LOL...If we pulled crap like that in a business....They would be tossing our butts in jail
  6. Take your blinders off Virgil....it was a column that was written...not VJP's statement. I think that since the govt can't even run the post office as a breakeven proposition I certainly do not want their fingers in health care at all. How about Social Security...another glowing light for the Govt's resume.
  7. I think most out there are good machines. I hae a Polaris 500 and love it. My Father has a Honda Traxter. I would look at what you specifically want to do with it and look at thow the different machines function. For instance. I bought mine to ride and use for light pulling and hunting applications. works great and I didn't want to have to shift. When we got my father's we knew it would be used for heavier pulling operations and since he doesn't really do a lot of open riding the shifting wasn't a problem. His is NOT a belt driven primary and that is better for pulling tasks. no burning up a belt like it could do with mine since mine is a belt driven primary. once you figure out what you want the next best advice is get GOOD tires on it. I like agressive tread and since I don't do any use around my yard I don't have to worry about them tearing up my yard. Dad's has a milder tread on it since he does use it for pulling his lawn cart and didn't want to tear up his grass. Good luck and enjoy
  8. I will agree that there probably is some sacrifice on our part to participate in this sport, be it time, money or family, but my only point would be that we shouldn't think that we will get any sympathy from any non-hunters out there for any of these personal sacrifices. We basically hunt because we want to. It surely isn't a necessity for 99% of the hunters out there. If we didn't hunt we honestly could live on just the same. Buying any sort of meat in a store will probably end up costing less for just about any hunter out there. LOL...Hence the reason I get no sympathy fromteh wife when I come home soaked with my teeth chattering
  9. I am going to have to reread it. I don't remember the crossbow bill talking about a relaxing of the requirements for disabled hunters
  10. I will agree with him that there is a sense of satisfaction when one does get an animal down which one doesn't get without putting an animal down. I just would laugh at his statement above. I can see what he means about good old fashioned luck, but exactly what's with the incredible dedication and sacrifice?? Plenty of hunters out there that are far from being the sharpest knives in the drawer and yet they manage to kill deer. It really isn't rocket science so I don't know how much dedication it really takes. No one is telling anyone that they must hunt in todays world, so any sacrifices he talks about are obviously personal choice. I think there is a dedication and sacrifice for all hunters...even the "crawl out a couple times a season" guys. Let's face it. we all sacrifice to go a field. We sacrifice our money that could go to other things....our time....we sacrifice the warmth of the warm home on a cold frosty morning. For some of the guys these sacrifices and levels of dedication may be far less than others but I can see his point. The scale is widely varied between all of us. There are some of you that are far more determined than I am and some that are less....but at some level I think it applies to all types of hunters. Uncle Ted can be a little over the top for my liking on most days but I can always agree with one thing.....The game sure does taste good!!
  11. Arrow, As the law is right now you have to be almost a parapalegic to qualify for a crossbow or draw lock in this state right now. Guys like Biz would not be able to utilize one as the law currently is. True on the crossbow. Not true on the draw lock. They changed the rule to allow them with a permit. Should be legal starting this year. Do you have a link to that? That may help my father if he meets the requirements
  12. Arrow, As the law is right now you have to be almost a parapalegic to qualify for a crossbow or draw lock in this state right now. Guys like Biz would not be able to utilize one as the law currently is.
  13. I would support a proposal like that NY. I won't be using one unless it gave me an increased season length (a seperate cross bow only season). I think NY would stand to earn the most money that way if they issued a cross bow license.
  14. I don't own any land but wish I did. I do have a 110 acre lease and unlimited access into another 900 acres of very good posted property....still not the same as owning though.
  15. When you say "You guys" you must be talking to the majority of hunters since based on the survey the DEC had done-----the majority want inclusion.
  16. What gets me even more worked up is them spending time on stupid bills like this that mean nothing instead of doing their job and trying to fix this state
  17. But that is the new world order wayNY...the same folks that are so better and far ahead of us....you know....the same opened minded govt.that is putting the dude on trial for anti-semetic slurs
  18. Don't forget the inspection costs....and is the law to he part of the traffic law?...tickets?
  19. Benefits for a part time gig? It makes me sick. Why should they get any better treatment than the rest of us. This happens right down to county level too. There are so many things that need to be changed but how do we get it done in a liberal state when the ones that would have to pass the change would be impacted by it. It is like asking the man in the electric chair to throw the switch....they aren't gonna do it.....and no offense guys but having down state as part of us makes it all the harder
  20. I can accept any line of thinking....as just that....a thought. It is when the thoughts are acted on and they are contrary to what I belive is right is when I take issue. If some one with contrary thoughts to what is mainstream of established by our documents it is there burden to change my mind through the use of facts and proof....not just because the want me to change....if my opinion or thinking is contrary to the mainstream or founding documents....the burden then falls on me.
  21. I agree Arrow....I wish they would treat our budget like my household budget....don't spend more than you earn....put some away in good years to cover the lean years. Instead they run it like a guy I grew up with who was driving a car that had loan dollars in it from 2 cars before. Eventually you have to pay the piper
  22. I read you questioning how "we" would feel and react if someone other than my religious views were elected
  23. I am interested in 06 in the 165 gr....and 270 in the 130 to 150 range....
  24. If and when a person of a base religious value system is elected it will be due to the majority feeling comfortable with the beliefs put forward (let's skip the electoral college topic vs majority vote). When that happens...and it will...I will still be vocal about any effort to circumvent our founding documents until done through the correct channels
