I agree with Pygmy...both are great. but I do have to give the nod to the 30-06 just for available ammunition. You will find it in any shop in North America. Military surplus is still available and since you are going with the 700 it would not bother it even if it is corrosive. (assuming your cleaning it properly). When I was faced with the same choice I pick the 30-06 and have not regretted it once...And by the way...since I am from the Mowhawk Valley...I like your choice in guns too.

I don't know all the particulars other than what has been posted here. One thing I will say and I believe this no matter the arguments made to me. The customer is always right. If you don't give discounts...say it and be courteous about it. I don't care if you are asked 100 times a day. going off on a customer is NEVER warranted. ...great job if it weren't for the public...lol. No one is saying you have to discount anything but there are many out there that feel the need to ask ...where they are justified or not. I would have let that cape rot and bought a new one before I would have left it with that guy. just my 2 cents. Excelent advice on finding out who wil be doing your work and the price ahead of time. It is an art and not all are created equal. I have seen new mounts that look 20 years old from day one. I hope it all works out for you.

Doc, If you say that is your true intention in your previous post I owe you an apology. Based on your posts on the other threads I was sure you were going down the line of ...Sure...why not open the bow season up to everyone with guns. I really think this is a great step forward for those that are challenged..a first step. Based on the efforts I have seen in my life of the physically challenged I think they should get any benefit we can afford them. If it is pistols as the only way to participate...I say sure why not -
What really irritates you when your hunting ?

as far as species bothering me....racoons crapping on the platforms of my stand...and those furry little wood spiders making thier sticky cacoons in every nook and crany...eventually crawling on you. Thing that irratiates me about hunters....hearing shots so fast you knw there is no possible way they could be aiming well. -

I gotta disagree....not in the right now mentality...that I agree with. I just think a lot of folks with true physical challenges probably have waited for quite some time. I think most of us think full inclusion is coming but it isn't guaranteed and who knows when. This would fill the gap for the challenged....and to be honest ...from a selfish standpoint ...it was what I had said in my crossbow posts....I want my father to be bow hunting with me again. He would definitely fall in this category as would many other legitimate users. I will stick with my compound even if there is general inclusion but this step is needed IMO -

As long as I am on private land that is under my control....I will drag myself out if I have to. 4 wheelers are used on my property to retreive deer, clear trails, and hang stands. I hae used one this past bow season to get 75% of the way back in at home for the evening hunt. It made the difference in getting in the last half hour or not. I have driven right by deer in the fields and since they aren't harrassed by the wheelers they stand there and look at me. The land owner rides his wheelers all year long and the deer don't seem to mind. My leased property is different...they see it ...they bolt. I think it does have a lot to do with conditioning....I hear shots at night all summer long at camp so I think that contrubutes. -

So what, if one is left with no other option it sounds pretty good. If the bill passes they will have an option -

this sounds like a perfect tool for the physically challenged hunter...especialy since the bill seems to target those with back/arm problems, since the inability to draw a normal bow is the basis -

Let me try to be as simple as I can, Doc. The addition of crossbows during archery gives them the opportunity to participate in that season.....any one of them that wishes to use a pistol or long gun can participate in that season...no window dressing...it would work. I would like to hear from some of the guys on this site that are working with the disabled hunting groups....what is your take? -
Maybe it was salt licks then...but I remember guys on the property next to where I started hunting getting ticketed for some form of feeding...80 or 81
-
I am 46 but I remember reg's against feeding deer and such on land inhabited by deer as far back as I can remember. Hasn't that been around at lest 30 years?

try this ;D ;D 3 cups diced peeled turnips 1/4 cup water 1 cube chicken bouillon 1 tablespoon butter, or more as needed 2 tablespoons white sugar Directions Place the turnips into a skillet with the water and chicken bouillon cube over medium heat, and simmer until the water has evaporated and the turnips are tender, about 15 minutes. Stir in the butter, let melt, and sprinkle on the sugar. Gently cook and stir the turnips until the butter and sugar cook into a brown, sticky coating on the turnips, about 10 minutes. Serve hot. [/q] I have one that is even better...but similiar 3 cups diced peeled turnips 1/4 cup water 1 cube chicken bouillon Directions Add the bouillon cube to the quarter cup of boiling water....throw out the Turnips and drink the soup.... Turnips......YUCK!!

you better not be getting all tree hugging on us and start talking about birth control and stuff for the deer

They stood half a chance of getting back out to their cars....but Doc in the other thread is taking down all their survey ribbons....now just remember where Hansel and Gretle ended up when some one did that to them -
Good point...fair enough
-
if the true intention of B&C and P&Y was that...why not picture the deer and score and not mention the taker?

Those infractions aren't from being older , those are guys that just don't care and have been doing that since they were younger.. the fact that they are older and slower is just the reason they got caught. And the tresspassing I can understand.....as you guys get over 50 and senile you are bound to get lost and wander around where you don't belong -

ah poop, with a compound bow in his wheel chair rig. He's a hog buck too! I would have loved to see the pics. I am curious though ( I have absolutly no experience around quads)....the whole holding...moving to aim thing really has me puzzled. even assisted ...I can remember trying to help my daughter trying to aim the gun while she was little and it was darn near impossible.
