LOL! Speaking of sissy's, we haven't heard the AR supporters voice their opinions on this topic yet. They are for artificials...they are waiting for the tree to mature another year : -

probably not. I can only speak of what I know. I was telling my father and uncle about the inclusion in gun season and they wanted to go out and get one...just to be ready. I told them they might want to hold off for a bit and see what happens -
Now if that doesn't bring a tear to your eye....you just aren't human

I know....I would crawl bare assed through a spruce forest to get within range of a nice buck ....But I do act as though my toe has been ripped off with pliers when I step on a needle....and for the record....I act like a sissy when I have a cold too -

I can personally guarantee that 4 that use to bow hunt but physically cant anymore would take it back up if the inclusion of the crossbow happened. -

yeah Doc....we ALL got you on that. Everyone is following you. NYAntler hit is right on the head and I understood what WNY was saying...most probably did. You are taking it to the extreme...well beyond his intention. I understood is voicing his frustration with some hunters that walk into the woods unprepared....not mater what we do they will be among us. I agree with WNY that since the prep time for the crossbow was less than with a vertical bow, there m ight be less likelihood that an animal would be wounded. We all understand your position on the crossbow and it NOT being included in Archery season. What I don't understand about your argument and many post you have made on other threads is this. You are constantly remarking on dwindling hunter numbers, yet an inclusion of crossbows in archery would put more hunters in the field for a larger portion of the year. how do you reconcile you two differing points of view? -
It isn't always that black and white, Bubba. Myself. the work I do varies alot in terms of travel and it can not be anticipated. I have had years that I was not able to practice with the bow like I want to. 2 out of the last 5 bow seasons I spent in the NZ woods with my rifle because of that. I had some range time and knew the gun was on but probably only put a box through the 2 rifles I hunt with. Is that ideal or prefered for me...no....is it adequate based on my experience and comfort level. it is. I have had other years...luckily not recently, that I practiced my but off...winter archery leagues....summer and early fall shooting with bow and guns. Work changed and I was only able to hunt the 4 days of Thanksgiving weekend. Should I have stayed in because I didn't scout. No way. and that last time this happened to me I shot a 4 point on that Saturday. That was the last tinme that season I was able to hunt. It is tough to sit here in each of our current situations and be critical of others abilities, dedication skill...or even ability to spell...LOL ( sorry but I had to) not knowing all the facts. remember..anyone of us could have life altering things happen. Be careful how we treat people and the limitations/expectations we place on others...we might just find ourselves in their shoes one day

anyway. It would be great to have the shed from a previous year when you get a trophy like that. amazing the inches he put on in one year. Great feed down there -

Mine is getting recycled. I am cutting the limbs off the old artificial and using to break up my outline in the ladder stands Yes, I was kidding about the environment comment, hence the at the end of that statement. -

Not sure where you are Fantail. but where I am the garbage picks up on special days and they grind them for mulch -
I would bet that the vast majority are a byproduct of deer hunting. Funny you mentioned baiting though. I have come across 2 bait sites in the last 2 years in area 5H. I sent the coordinates to DEC but never heard if they got the guys. I am betting there is a lot of illegal bear baiting that goes on

Hmmmm...that wan't by design...lol -
Real or fake. after 13 years I am getting dragged out to cut down a tree this weekend. Last weekend of gun.....ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It is gonna be just great dragging a snow covered tree in the house. It will be just a matter of time before the Mrs. starts bitching about falling needles. She is a neat freak. I swore when I actually build a new house the family room will have a closet in the corner. Inside will be a tree that is visible when the doors open and it is slid out and plugged in . On the 26th reverse the process and all done...lol

And a trigger - for both. yup...kinda just like our trigger releases on our compounds...lol -
I saw one 300 pound buck taken in Northern Maine. It would not have looked like that in the tuck. the neck on it was wider than the waist of the guy who shot it...lol

Antler Restrictions - What are your thoughts?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
What's that saying? ..... the definition of insanity is continuing to do the same thing over and over and expecting different results (or something like that). I agree. anyone who thinks there is only one way to hunt, doesn't really understand hunting. After the initial shock to the deer herd when they have gone into the invisible mode, I get this cartoonish type thought of a hunter dozing in his tree stand and 100 yards over in the bushes just out of sight is a deer dozing also throughout the entire day. Neither one of them knowing the other is there. Not really too productive for the hunter. Doc Come on Doc...you are sooooo wrong. Naps are ALWAYS productive- 1885 replies
