  1. I stated that I wouldn't advise new hunters to do this.
  2. He's a stand and maybe a still hunter. Never took part in group deer drives. To say shots at running deer are "borderline unethical" shows his limited experience. Should a new hunter take that shot, I wouldn't recommend it but you have to take the "first shot" at some point. Some of my best memories are doing deer drives and they are a very productive method of deer hunting. The sport has really turned into an individual endeavor.
  3. Kind of an interesting twist with the Federal Govt. OSHA will now treat employees that have an adverse reaction to the vaccine and miss time as a reportable case if the employer requires the vaccine.
  4. When you buy the Booner the site doesn't have enough capabilities to get the info from the purchaser for the other ticket recipients. When I see a booner is bought I will email the purchaser and ask for the following Full legal name address email phone number address This info will be sent to the FFL if you win. (cash will be sent directly from us and non firearms prizes ship directly from Reed's). This info will be utilized for your NDA membership. Thanks for supporting all. Nice thing it the more that buy the more prizes we can give out. There isn't a fixed number of tickets sold but we will draw one prize per 10 sold no matter the quantity. I'd love to give out 30 prizes. kind of like the Browning 22 but not sure how me drawing live on Facebook and announcing my own name would go over...lol All purchasers will be sent a link for the Facebook drawing. Names will be announced during the drawing as first name and last initial since we don't want to put out in public that you could have won a gun....that's your business and no one else.
  5. The members on here have always been very supportive of the branch and I really appreciate that. I am providing a link to the raffle we are running. The ticket prices are a bit higher than traditional ($100 at lowest level) BUT we are drawing 1 winner for every 10 membership tickets sold. For any of you that came to the banquet and played out "Gun Board" game it's similar. Here is the kicker. Each winner can select a prize off the banner or select a $400 cash prize instead. Unlike the gun board where when a prize was selected it was no longer available, this drawing allows every winner to select whatever banner prize they wish. If five winners want the Benelli shotgun then they can select it. The details are clearly outlined in the link and you can purchase your ticket (s) securely through there. Drawing will be on Facebook live on July 2nd and a random number generator and selector will be used. https://www.deerassociation.com/GRSTNDA Now for the tip of the week. ---Each ticket comes with a 1 year NDA membership ($35 value) ---There are even prizes for those that have all the firearms they need...(Can't believe those people even exist...lol) ---A $200 level ticket gets you more chances to win and into a special gun drawing ONLY for $200 membership ticket level. ---Be the person that organize his buddies to get in on this and purchase the Booner Membership ticket. That is 8- $200 tickets and the person that purchase the $1,600 value for $1,000 gets in on the exclusive drawing for the Henry 45-70. If you get in on this, it's basically all 8 of you getting a $200 ticket for $125. So who will be doing a little leg work to get in on this drawing. I am betting the odds on the Booner Henry drawing are going to be GREAT!! We will select one winner for every 10 memberships sold, and the winner can choose from twenty different prize options or they can choose $400.00 cash. We also have two bonus drawings where we will pull one winner from the $200 12-point membership level for a Browning A-bolt .308 and one winner from the $1,000 Booner Captain’s Level for a Henry Octagon Brass Walnut .45-70! Three Membership Options: $100 Eight-Point Member Level: one-year membership to NDA ($35.00 value) plus 15 chances in the Banner Raffle prize list *$4.33 a chance after membership. $200 12- Point Member Level: one-year membership to NDA ($35.00 value) plus 45 chances in the Banner Raffle prize list, plus three chances at the $200.00 level bonus raffle for a Browning A-bolt III Grade II Hunt .308 Win or $500.00 cash. *$3.66 a chance after membership. $1,000 Booner Captain’s Level: eight one-year memberships to NDA ($280 value) plus eight $200 level 12-Point Raffles tickets, 45 chances in the Banner Raffle prize list, three chances at the $200.00 level bonus raffle for a Browning A-bolt III Grade II Hunt .308 Win or $500.00 cash and the Captain (the purchaser of this package) gets one chance at a Henry Lever Octagon Brass Walnut .45-70 Govt. or $750.00 cash. This package represents a $1,600 value and the only way to get in on the Henry! *$2.77 a chance after memberships.
  6. Wanted to put this out there for a couple reasons. The last project we did his wife drove me bonkers on finish colors. we ended up custom mixing to get what she wanted. She has no vision and unless it is on the exact wood in the exact size, she can't picture anything. Didn't want to spend the money on all solid maple but didn't like the normal grain variations in plywood veneers. Well I told he is had to be a stock stain color and bring us the stain and that is what she was getting. Well she strolled in to Lowes and listened to the lady in the paint department and brought home a minwax GEL stain. My friend thought he would get a jump on the finishing and help move the project along so he applied the sanding sealer and started applying the gel stain. I would have sent her back for regular stain. The Gel stain sucks. It forms a barrier that will not allow for additional coast of stain to deepen the color. DO NOT USE THIS CRAP. So here we sat with a desk that would not take any more stain (even normal stain) and she wanted a much darker color. Luckily she wanted kind of a distressed look so we pulled out the sprayer and mixed small amounts of regular mahogany Minwax stain in the polyurethane and started coating...and coating....and coating. It got to the finish she wanted and then we top coated with straight ploy becasue the stain addition makes the finish a bit soft. There is a hutch that goes on the desk and we will start the assembly tonight. We finished this unassembled because all the inside corners make it a bear. I'll post up pics when that is done. I really enjoyed this build and think I will start doing more of this. She wants to see a test piece for a poured glass epoxy top so I may be doing this to the desk.
  7. how many have you killed with a bow?
  8. And as evidenced by many threads on here and other forums there are the same type people doing the same thing with a vertical bow....shooting outside their capabilities.
  9. What is the success rate for bow hunters?
  10. Try “Slice” on South Genesee in Utica if you get a chance. Highly recommend their old fashioned and their purple cow wings. Also they have a bakery next door and their cheesecake is to die for
  11. 40 bags left and national is going to send out an e-blast so that will go quickly. Pick up in Rochester on Saturday May 1st from 2-6.
  12. The majority of the population density issues are in areas with limited access and in close proximity to residents. The cross BOW is the ideal tool to achieve the management goals.
  13. We sent all we took to get tanned. I would not be surprised to see fur prices bump up next year. Supply should be down with so my trappers sitting on their traps and not really setting this year. Couple that with the ordered kill off of such a large portion of the farm raised mink overseas and anticipated border openings and I think it'll bump up. This year would have been a good year to sit on and store your fur for next year's sales in my opinion.
  14. Hunger is a great motivator. In the hiring field I am in, I can tell you that weekly we have people quit very good paying jobs becasue the work is too hard and they can "get on programs". Where is the motivation to better yourself if you can sit and get by? From my signature lines below---"When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both.." - James Dale Davidson, National Taxpayers Union
  15. The free market works when Government keeps it's hands out of it. There is no actual way for all parties providing a service or product to be confident that they could collude on pricing and not have one slightly undercut the group to gain the competitive edge. The greed that you are hanging your hat on is exactly why the free market DOES work. You me and 3 others provide a product, say insulin. Even if we all agree to set (fix) the price I could begin to think about why I should take just 1/5 of the insulin sales. I might not be the best known supplier so I might not even get the 1/5. So I reduce my price by 10%. I pick up sales. What do the others do? raise theirs? maintain their agreed pricing? or undercut me?
