  2. Great story thanks for sharing! This is what its all about, great job.
  3. Hey Zemm! Good to hear from you, any good stories yet??
  4. We had hell of a weekend. Bucks were still in bachelor groups. We saw a total of 6 does and get this 9 bucks. My brother took the only shot and missed a 6pt Saturday morning. I did not see a deer all day Saturday. My brother saw a few doe and two bucks in the morning and saw a button buck and another buck in the evening. Sunday morning was awesome. I had deer by my stand from first light. A couple of does and two small bucks. Could of shot any of them but will wait for Mr. big (he comes later). When I left the cabin and looked back at my clover field and on the skyline was a nice buck just looking at me. I knew it would be a good morning. 7:30 and I get a text that my brother is watching 4 bucks cross the same field. They are headed my way and he says the last one is real big. I never see these deer but I do hear them off to my left coming through the woods. At one point two of the bucks start sparring with each other and I can hear the horns rattling. I never do see them. It was about 10:00 and across the field from where I am set up I hear a branch break. This area is real thick with blowdowns, the deer love it. Well I know something is over there and I wait. Out comes a buck very grey looking with a decent rack, it was very tall. Behind him was the deer we all look for. It was another very grey big looking deer. He was a 10 point with sweeping beams and long tine length. He was perfect on both sides. They are about 50-60 yards from me, heading towards me but a bit high up the hill to shoot. The lead buck turns towards me and starts heading my way and stops. He decides to go into my pines and cross just below another stand I have up. I was going to get in that stand but decided at the last minute to move further down the hill, go figure. I watched as they moved off into the bedding area on my property. I did not catch either of these two bucks on my cam. He is huge, big body and if I had to guess a 150 class buck. I put a cam out when we left today to see if this is a normal routine. I kind of like this early season opener!!! I hope to have another encounter with him soon!!!
  5. Over in 8P, didn't hear one shot.
  6. Grow, I'm not on BP meds. Have a slow heart rate but its normal for me(I run a lot). Well last Sunday I headed over to my brothers house and while driving down his road my BP started to crash. I got out and asked him to get me a couple gatoraides. I slammed those down but it took a good half hour to feel ok. I dehydrated myself. Was out late the night before, ran in the morning and took my calcium/Magnesium supplement on an empty stomach. scary stuff right there, I know how you felt. This is the second time in the last 2 years this has happened. First time was a med mix-up that caused it. Good post.
  7. Ask the processor. If it was a sick deer I'm sure he would not of cut it up. See what his thoughts are. I shot a deer years ago that had a hole in its hoof, totally screwed up the bottom part of his leg. He was limping badly so I put him down. Upon inspection of the deer his hoof was infected and one eye was glazed over. Took him to the processor and asked if the deer was ok to eat. He said it was fine. I'm here to tell the tale, so be it.
  8. Going to try the Montecs this year. Got them for free, this is the second time in 5 years I recieved free archery equipment from a photo shoot we did. They look really good and like you guys are saying they have a good rep. Buck did you keep the heart?
  9. 40's on Sunday chance of showers, cold and damp!
  10. Reading all the posts about being out there. I can't wait for the weekend and the forecast is cold and cloudy!!! 30's in the morning, going to feel like November!!!!!
  11. Yea, a motherless button buck is probably the tamest deer in the woods. Had twins that were orphaned a few years ago watch me get into my stand and then come over not more than 10 yards away to check me out. They hung around for an hour.
  12. I agree with Steve, just can't see posting from my stand. This is my sanctuary I have been waiting for all year, no way a cell phone is coming out to update you guys. I get pissed at my brother when he texts for an update. Its a nuisance, but a must have for safety reasons. I know some of you guys love doing it and that's great, enjoy it but you just may miss the big boy slipping through right before you hit send! lol
  13. Countdown to Friday......being picked up 1:00 in the afternoon in the big city and hopefully making camp by 6:30! Looks like I can try out the new wood stove this weekend, can't wait! Just my brother and I going up this weekend. Opening day we will have two other hunters with us this year. My niece who is 21 just got her license and a friend that came late last season will be joining us. May it be a bountiful and safe season for all! This hangs on my cabin wall, made by one of the members of this site.
  14. That's what happens when you post to a website. Instant feedback wether you like it or not. Don't post the next time until you sure of the situation, case closed. Hope you find her-good luck.
  15. I would also be looking not hunting. Biggest deer I ever shot was found 6 hours later and at times we lost blood for over an hour. Circle and circle some more. You will find her.
  16. I agree with Doc western NY is a great area. You looking for a rural rental or something in a city, might have something for you if it's a city setting in the Corning area. PM me if you want.
