Had to chuckle last night browsing the channels I saw Mountain Men and sure enough Eustace was in the kale when the shot went off. Preston, I heard a shot from up yonder on the ridge

My family tent camped at Beaverkill starting in the 40's. Big army surplus tents and cots. I tent camped from NYS to Maryland in the 70's. Quit when I got multi-ticked in Maryland and discovered Ocean City. Its hard, dirty but a lot of fun. Raccoons make it interesting. Arguing with my cousins husband about whther yoou could cook fried eggs over a wood fire. Like people didn't cook until a stove was invented. One thing I noticed about camping, you can be in the longest running drought in earth's history but as soon as you start setting up a tent it will rain.

What are you doing to prep for the 2012 Hunting Season?

back to the gym and droppings lbs -
I like Eustace, "Heard a shot from tother side, its thems poachers" he gets some dramatic, especially when he shot that little rat der and went through his ritual. Those dreads could use a good washing.

Insulated soft picnic bag, they make some small ones, with an ice pack.

Bill to raise hunting age to 18
Suilleabhain replied to Suilleabhain's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Good, so this isn't something new that they are trying to slip in. -
I hate when that happens!!!

I saw this on another site, don't know if anyone else picked up on this or if this is old news: A new bill introduced in New York would undo the recent positive steps taken by the state legislature to reduce age restrictions for hunters in the state. Senate Bill 3598, sponsored by Senator Liz Krueger (D- New York City), would raise the hunting age across the board. Specifically, the bill increases the minimum age for obtaining a hunting license from 16 to 18 years of age while requiring anyone under the age of 20 to be accompanied by a parent, guardian or relative. Additionally the bill raises the junior hunting license range to 14-16 years old from the current 12-14 years old while also increasing the age of the mentor accompanying a junior hunter from 21 to 23. The bill also increases the junior archery license age bracket limit from 14-16 to 16-18 years old. The bill, which was referred to the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee, would reverse last year’s legislation lowering the youth hunting restrictions, which was based upon the Families Afield initiative. We should immediately contact their state legislators and tell them to oppose SB 3598.

The Left and Chick-Fil-A
Suilleabhain replied to Grouse's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Just a small minority with a big mouth. The large Right has to start being more vocal to drown out the shouts from the small Left. "From Georgia to California, protests drew yawns, not saliva. Even in Atlanta, the home of Chick-fil-A, only two dozen kissers showed up. And there was a similar lack of necking in Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and San Francisco. At NYU, 20 people weren’t allowed in the dorm that hosts the city’s only Chick-fil-A. Just three pairs of guys kissed on the street. In Jersey, I only found eight kissers — and two weren’t even bi!" -
Paula, I'm with you on this, love fog in the woods. Senses get jacked- like by a factor of three. You can hear everything. One of my best days was archery in a treestand and at first light in 50' visibility could hear a deer for half an hour. Turned out to be a spike but like a ghost when I could finally see him. Just a very cool experience.

Right in the parking lot and he's only a forkhorn with all that height

I've heard that you have to get the skin off and salt them first to get the water and bitter taste out, then egg, bread and fry fast

Morgan should ask Bloomberg, Schumer and Howard Stern why they have NYC carry permits first. Stern isn't even an NYC resident, his residency is the Hamptons

My friend only hunts with a long bow and cedar arrows. If he can do that, I expect any caliber used correctly will work.

I have my hunters safety cert from '67 and most of my licenses. Once tried taking my archery stamps off but that went south quick so I left them

12 killed, 38 hurt in Colorado shooting
Suilleabhain replied to burmjohn's topic in General Chit Chat
DeerThug said it on page 1, if someone in the theater was carrying, this would have ended differently. If Colin Ferguson shot up the LIRR on the south shore instead of the north shore he'd have been dead real quick. and I'll bet in either case if those f**ks were looking down the barrel of a gun, they'd have lost their killer machismo real fast. -
I understood what Grow said just fine. Anyway from teh way he's standing, I think I remember him from the Russian Circus at Madison Square Garden...Just funnin', would be good to get a measure like Grow said.

too much sun glare? Don't know where my cam is. My brother went up & couldn't find it. Said the ferns were too high to see. So either it's there or it used to be there and its somewhere else. Used to be mine, now its theirs.

You get Life mag quality pictures. I love when deer come right up to the lens to say hello. The frog is great. Should have a trailcam challenge on here for bragging rights of pictures. The frog with the doe in the background saying "OMG, holycrap!" would get my vote, that's totally unique.
