Here we go....

Thats how I interpreted as well. It does give an exception for a "slide that encloses the barrel". What is a slide? -

The definition of the semi-auto assault rifles is confusing. The part about the barrel being covered is a question for me. Does this mean that a standard remington 30-06 deer rifle would be banned? There is a wooden stock covering the barrel so that you could hold it. -

This is part of their plan to completely disarm the American public. They start with these "assault weapons", then when there is no difference in crime, they will wait for the next tradgedy and say that all semi-autos need to be banned. Then when that doesn't work they will limit all firearms to 3 rounds etc etc etc. -
How long before the apple and chestnuts start producing fruit?

Deport Piers Morgan ?
joe12 replied to 132 eight pointer's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
He needs to be reminded that one of the reasons that the USA was formed was to escape from the tyrants (like himself) in Britain. He should go back to the UK if he doesn't like our laws. -
Anyone attending the Ithaca gun buyback as a voice?
joe12 replied to tony m's topic in General Chit Chat
what you should do is trade in a bunch of junk rifles that you don't use anymore, and use the $ to buy a new AR-15. -
i think the specialty hunting no-scent detergent is just that - regular detergent but without the scents and UV color enhancers. They just charge a premium because it is perceived as a magical scent killer.

maybe we could ban police stations?

Are you FOR or AGAINST a change?
joe12 replied to nybuckboy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I do worry that once they ban large magazines or AR-style rifles, there will be no change in the level of violence. They will then look to ban another style of weapon and it will never end. Pretty soon, we will be limited to single shot weapons, and then once someone uses a single shot to commit murder, they will look to ban those. The goal of most of the gun control crowd is the elimination of all guns, because in their warped utopian minds no guns = no violence. We see how well that works in the rest of the world. -

Completely agree with Steve here. The background check systems are only as good as the information put into them. If a mentally ill person has never committed a crime under the current system, there is nothing to prevent them from obtaining a weapon. If people are treated for a potentially dangerous mental illness, this needs to be picked up by the systems. I know that the ACLU and human rights folks will go crazy over this because they would rather the entire country lose their second amendment rights than a potentially dangerous person with a mental illness be added to a list. Think about it - in both the colorado theater shooting and the recent school shooting, these monsters were both thrown out of school and raised a number of red flags. Not sure how you would get the logistics in place to label them though. -
Can someone please explain how an AR style semi-automatic .223 is more dangerous than a traditional semi-automatic "non military style" rifle? To me, all of this assault rifle talk and labeling is being carried out by the media and people that have not a clue about guns. This is like saying that a red car is more dangerous than the same car that is painted blue with racing stripes. Am I missing something???

some of my 2011/2012 rabbit hunts
joe12 replied to huntersponrun's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Where did you get all those rabbits? I live in orange county and there used to be tons of rabbits. Now I come across one or two, but nothing like it used to be. There are a lot of cats running around outside, which I truly believe decimate the rabbit population. I have seen several cats in the spring time running around with baby rabbits in their mouths. They don't even eat them, they just kill for the sake of killing. -
this policy was created by someome that shares the beliefs of most of the gun control morons in this country. They truly have a naiive view of the world and do not appreciate the evil that exists. It really is backwards (especially in NY) that the criminal has more rights and protection than the victim.

I think hunting pressure has a lot to do with it. Every inch of huntable land in orange county has 4-5 guys trying to hunt it.

Sometimes it is fun to shoot really quickly. I was in Montana this past summer on vacation and went to a place to shoot fully auto machine guns. I shot a Kres and my brother shot an m-4. It was a lot of fun, but I went through 50 rounds in about 15 seconds.

Agreed. Gatto does amazing work, so for us the wait is worth it. The reason that he takes so long is because he does good work.

Bob Gatto. My brother brought his 10 point there this year and he told him a year lol

yeah there was a secluded spot off of an exit on Rt 17 in orange county where the lazy state workers would dump the road kills instead of properly disposing.

Like fletch said - sit mornings and afternoons and do small drives from 10 am - 2 pm
