  1. I bore sight my bolt actions myself. I've gotten good enough at it over the years that I can get in on paper with the first shot at 100 yards. Then I measure where it hit and make the scope adjustments. Many times I can get it right where I want it ( 2" high @ 100 ) with the 2nd shot. After that I clean the bore and shoot 3 shot groups to verify it's on target.
  2. My main deer rifle is a Kimber 84M Montana in 7mm-08 with Kevlar and stainless, sporting a matte Leupold 3x9 Compact scope and a thin web sling. At 6.5 pounds total loaded in the field weight, it is a great mountain rifle for Whitetail. It has a great trigger and accuracy of M.O.A. or better with hunting loads. I've used about a dozen other rifles for Whitetail over 40 years until I got this one. I'll be using it for the rest of my deer hunting days.
  3. Saw I guy leaving 22's on the ground at the range with the same problem once. The ammo misfired and he would jack another round into the rifle and misfire again. I picked up his misfired ammo and asked what was the matter. His reply was the shells were duds. I put a couple into my 22 revolver and all of them fired. I looked at him and said, "Your rifle is a dud!" I also explained how leaving that rimfire ammo on the ground was dangerous. He didn't think it was because he thought they were "duds".

    No excuses

    No you can't. That's illegal.
  5. I'm told Great Grandma shot them in the garden and made crow pie out of them. My Uncle said it was good eating.
  6. Farmers are going to give permission to a chuck shooter faster than they will to a deer hunter. They hate the chucks. Ask away!
  7. I don't hunt them, I just shoot them when I can.
  8. I take them when I see them whiloe small game hunting, but don't make them the prime quarry.
  9. The farmer up the road from me says, "a good bear is a dead bear".

    How come?

When I started about 30 years ago, it was to be able to hunt deer in a special ML season that ran after the firearms season. Just wanted to hunt deer longer than the 1 week NJ offered at the time. Same reason I got into bowhunting. Wanted to hunt deer for a month prior to the NJ firearm season.
  13. Smokers should be careful in the woods, so as not to start a forest fire.
  14. I'm old, so my kids are older now. My son, 2nd daughter at the prom and 1st daughter.
  15. Welcome! Glad you came aboard.
  16. Try this site for maps of all of the Public Access Areas in Delaware county. www.NYC.gov/dep Then click the link to Public Access Areas. There are a lot of new areas open for public access hunting and no permit is required.
