I'm thinking the Sat after this one I might rally the squirrel squad together and do an organized assault on the critters. I'll keep you posted.

JOIN THE NRA NOW!!!
shawnhu replied to Joe Red's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
If they were only after member numbers, I'll sign up as a member, if they waive my fee. I just don't get it, why are folks being pushy about joining the NRA? I, like some other honest working folks here, have my reserves with sending my hard earned money to an org that doesn't seem like they are spending their $ wisely, and certainly isn't benefitting my region. If I lived upstate, maybe I'd take a second look at them. -
Deport Piers Morgan ?

Saw that interview, very heated and put Morgan in his place. -
Works better as a car wax instead. Makes your car real nice and shiny, like exfoliating skin.

JOIN THE NRA NOW!!!
shawnhu replied to Joe Red's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
If they come for my hunting implements, they can have them. I don't have the financial means to fight NYC. Just like respect, it's earned. IMO, the tactics that some on this thread and that of the NRA use to pressure isn't too far from that of the anti-gunners. -

But I haven't seen any action taken against Bloomberg's ridiculous limitations on the 5 round limitation and the ridiculous permit fees. -

New World's Fastest Production Rimfire
shawnhu replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
dbHunter, no doubt the numbers on the 17 WSM is a superior rimfire round compared to the other magnums, no doubting that. But a fair comparison should be made, especially in a comparison of that caliber and the work put into that video. Makes him look like a fool to not use the proper rounds for comparison. And my original point was how much better is this round bs the existing 17 HMR? How many people will sell theirs to get this one? Is it any better of a coyote killer than the HMR? Obviously some feel that this round is a game changer and will take body shots on coyotes. -
Storing Guns - Cocked or uncocked?
shawnhu replied to Elmo's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
A removed bolt is as good as a cocked and loaded spring. -
Not really, terminal velocity for a light weight tick is minimal, probably 3 fps, max.
-
So can a .22 Marauder.

Definitely biased, the round he used for the 17 HMR doesn't seem fair for the comparison. Also, last I looked into it, the 17 HMR beats out the .22 WMR after 150 yards, but his numbers clearly does not show that. I'm skeptical of his numbers. -
Pick me up at 7?

My front wheel drive uses rear axle fluid. :/
-
Brake fluid is also used in clutch fluid, but tranny and power steering was used interchangeably in older cars, now they are mainly separate but if in a pinch, you bet I'd use tranny fluid for the PS. Brake fluid and clutch is both DOT fluids.

Is that a putty tat? Here kitty kitty.

That .22 probably shoots PBA pellets at those speeds, which is going to be sub 16 FPE, not much in terms of going up against a yote. Anything in the 30 FPE range and up is sufficient for a humane headshot for yotes within 50 yards. I don't know of a pump or breakbarrel capable of those energy levels yet, only PCP. The .22 and .25 Marauder is probably going to venture cheapest PCP that can do the job.

New World's Fastest Production Rimfire
shawnhu replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Never disputed the lethality of this round or that of the .22LR and .17 HMR, just the humanity of the round and shot placement to recover game the size of a coyote. I look forward to hearing how this round fares. So anyone selling their 17 HMR or .22 WMR to buy one of these? -
Another NYC shooting, one on a crowded N train

Sometimes I feel like it's safer being an NYC police officer than a civilian. -

Part of being an ethical and responsible hunter is to know when you are under gunned and when to take an ethical shot. Seems like you may not have regards to this for yotes, as if they don't deserve a quick death. I hope I'm wrong, as I respect many of your hunting related posts. -
One piece of good news

Throw out enough of these ridiculous bills and one might just stick. Perhaps a tactic to inch in on our liberties. -
New World's Fastest Production Rimfire

From 17 grains to 20 grains is a 17% increase in mass, and relatively a small increase in velocity. 17% increase in speed to be exact. You bring up a centerfire 25 grain bullet traveling 4000 fps. That's a 47% increase in mass and a 56% increase in speed to the 17 HMR! I think it's clear we're not comparing apples to apples here. -

The perp also had priors, showing that a violent crook is going to be a violent crook. How Bloomberg can try to twist this into another one of his gun control agendas is mind boggling. Both shootings involving NYPD cops was guns from out of state. Just imagine the scenario had these cops not confronted this individual, an entire subway car could have been slaughtered. I'm curious to know how the other officer was shot in his back, was he trying to run? -
