  1. Grey, never ordered these items from a Walmart before, so I wouldn't know. The proper thing for Walmart to do is not ship to NYC, and not NYS. Must have been a goof up up top by some idiot that mistaken NYC for NYS. In any case, which pellets are you trying to get? I may just have some.
  2. A 30-06 didn't cause an exit hole? Did you shoot it head on?
  3. Most guys have boats in the teens, it's just an addiction once you get into it. But you're right, most of the boats aren't being used, but they are there in case the owners wanted to fish that lake, at that certain time. Either case, good luck finding a boat.
  4. I think I could walk around advertising for you, for a fee of course. Looks good.
  5. Tommy, thanks for the ammo and tag. Was great chit chatting, sorry to cut it short, but wife was getting cold out there. Hope to see you out there, and good luck this weekend for xbow.

    First deer!

All that is put aside like I said and the focus is on the hunt. We aren't all cut from the same cloth, but as hunters, we should all work together to accomplish the same goals. I'm really thankful that I found this site. Met some really cool people on here and looking forward to meeting more in my years to come.

    First deer!

Hey phade, As you know, hunters and fisherman are totally different breeds from the normal population in terms of how they perceive the sport. Most times, we as sportsman and women prefer to be out alone, by ourselves, away from any BS that life throws at us. Its our ME time and prefer to be relaxed. Because of this reason, most hunters and fisherman prefer to travel alone, hunt and fish alone, and not be bothered by agreeing on things such as when to wake up, when to leave, etc. As far as tactics goes, I don't think I really have any. Where we differ most is how each of us would consider taking deer, and when to take deer. I prefer head shots when given the opportunity over double lung. Id rather miss than fatally injure a deer that can't be tracked. I would prefer to take a fawn over a large doe. I generally gravitate to what I think is their bedding areas to hunt versus areas of buck sign. I generally don't pay too much attention to wind direction and don't buy into the scent gimmick. Theres more I'm sure, but these are some that I think we may differ in. But as long as there's communication and a common interest, things can be worked out. As far as deer count on my part, I've kind of lost track. I'm still trying to learn how to hunt, and not just shoot. Hope this helps.
  8. Same here. Was playing with some full auto stuff in MA recently. Pre-ban stuff. Edit: I sure hope the gov don't ban Peeing!
  9. Indeed, these cops in this story are stand up human beings did right by her.
  10. Hi, I don't have a boat for sale, but if you wait till next spring when DEP Boating opens, you can most likely put one on NC, Titicus, and Amawalk, as they are not closed yet. Good luck and tight lines!
  11. Used to do trigger work for my paintball guns all the time, but I wouldn't mess with shaving metal off a firearm. Too risky. I'd go as far as polishing the parts using a dremel if it was creeping. I'm a big fan of light triggers because I'm very safety conscious. I'm uneasy around those that are not, regardless of their trigger weight.
  12. Falconry is extremely difficult to get into due to the federal regulations and having to find a falconry person to take you under their wings. You also need a lot of things to be compliant to federal regulations. I equate getting into falconry as hard as getting a handgun permit in NYC.
  13. Also a confidence problem due to lack of range time.
  14. No trapping permitted unless licensed by DEC.

    First deer!

It was definitely bloody. Live and learn. Did your uncle say to bring the firearm with you when asking?
  16. Pretty simple and stated in the hunting guide. REGULAR season in bow hunting WMU's run pretty much from Oct 1st till end of December. It's also stated that you can use your regular season buck tag as either sex in these areas.

    First deer!

Wow, you boys sure know how to derail an otherwise great first deer story. Hope you're proud of yourselves. Happy holidays to all!
  18. That's awesome! Rifle or shotgun? I believe the border there is Cayuga, which is rifle now.
  19. Friend loves in 7H, and would love to hunt that area one of these days. He says they are rampant around his neck of the woods.
  20. That's how our weddings go, it's for the parents, not the couple. I ended up with close to 300 guests that evening. I was so tired by the end of the night, I can't remember if I consummated the whole thing that night. The next night made up for it though

    First deer!

This is a prime example of how shooting at the range, perseverance, and friendship all pays off at the end of the day(literally). When Elmo and I split up around 2pm, I really wanted to just sit in the car and call it a day. But something told me I should walk the other side of the forest and not let the miles of walking bother me. I found a nice trail, and thought, I'll take it easy and just "explore the area for next year." Thats when I remembered a conversation I had with Elmo in the ride back one day, "let's worry about this year first, it's not over yet", Elmo said to me. So I found a nice worn out deer trail, and followed it in. I went in as far as I could, hoping to kick up a bedded deer, but only managed to hit a dead end for humans, and decided to turn back. There were tons of sign in there, and in the excitement and many many briars, I was lost. Light was starting to get dim, and I started to panic a little. Took what seemed like hours to get back out, and after many scratches to my legs, arms, and neck, I finally got out with the use of my phone's compass and maps. I said to myself, I've really had enough for one day! On my way back to the car, I remembered seeing another side trail, and stated at it for a minute before I said, what the heck, and went right in. This trail was much heavier used by people, and it led me through the briar patches and into the edge of the swamp. I figured I could connect back to how I came in by walking the edge of the swamp, and maybe kick something up deeper in the swamp if there was a deer in here. Found a nice little spot someone made as a ground sit, and continued on. I again, found myself in a dead end in the direction towards the car, but just then as I walked over and snapped a branch, I heard an echo, "snap....snap!". I took a few steps closer and "snap......snap"! Each time I snapped a branch, another snapped in the near distance inside the thick thick briars. I snapped once more, and that's when it happened. I heard rustling running away from me, in the direction of Elmo. I refocused my attention to closing in on the, now almost silent, rustling and placed my eyes in the area where I last heard it going... And there she came. Up the ridge from the swamp, just like Elmo's encounters were like. She was huge, And she stopped broadside right in between a bunch of trees. I had my crosshairs on her, pretended to take the shot, and even make the noise of the hammer hitting, "click". I didn't fire, but still wonder if I had, would she have been hit and down. I made some noise to send her off trotting towards Elmo's direction, hoping he hasn't moved and as soon as she was out of viewing distance, I alerted Elmo that this is his chance! I can tell he was excited of the news because he had to ask me a few times to verify the direction he needs to be looking. I pretty much told him, "look towards the car"! Not one minute later, I hear a huge bang and I stood there, at a dead end, lost again, motionless for what felt like a long time. I didn't hear from Elmo, and tried hailing him a few times, but was unsuccessful. I feared the worst, I hope my buddy didn't shoot himself out of excitement or if another hunter shot him in his blaze orange, then I checked myself to see if I was shot and didn't know it(haha). Then I hear "tzzz... You there?....tzzz". Knowing my buddy is still alive, I quickly told him I'd be right there and stay put until I get there and rushed through the swamp I didn't want to trek through. On my way there, I discovered I had lost radio contact with him, turns out he could hear me but I couldn't receive his transmissions. It was very frustrating and turned out to be a VOX setting that was pushed by accident on Elmo's radio. I had to do the Marco polo tactic in the woods and zeroed him in that way. It was a good thing a deer was shot at that point, or else anything within 10 miles would have been spooked by us. And everything after that is history..... Good shooting buddy, I got the same on both my shoulders and I'm sure your back isn't feeling much better than mine right now. So when are we going for number 2? Too soon? Haha.
