  1. The only 22's I have ever had a problem with are Remington Thunderbolts. Those things are crap. The last time I shot those, out of my 10/22, each round seemed to make a little bit different sound than the one before it. Kind of like a popcorn machine….Jams up the wazzo. Maybe I got some bad ones but Im done with them..
  2. "custom match" doesn't sound like a hunting bullet. Sounds more like a bullet that is made for long range accuracy & competition shooting rather than one that expands well, delivers a lot of shock and is designed for taking deer. Standard 150gr .308 Remington core- lokt or Winchester power points (hunting rounds) should do just fine. Look into the bullet design.
  3. I don't know how you NYC area guys deal with all this crap. Upstate is bad enough. Lil' King Andy and Lord Bloomberg are just too much.
  4. LOL! you're not alone.. the years have caught up to me. Broken leg, broken foot, broken fingers dislocated shoulder, reconstructed knee. Sometimes it tends to haunt me in the stand. I get home from hunting and don't want to move off the couch. Plus my "battle axe" won't even toss me an Advil from the next room. What ever. Im still going.. And she can hang her own Damn X-mas lights!!!!
  5. I use to bird hunt a lot. I always wore an orange vest and hat, for that very reason. Tall grass, thick hedge rows..it only makes sense to me..
  6. Batting zero myself. I have seen deer and have blown chances. Thanksgiving morning I passed on a big, long bodied doe, at about 30 yards. It was about 730AM, cold and snowy. I figured it was early and that they must be moving so I waited for horns….. Nada... Thats hunting…...
  7. Wow…Really? And these people all died protecting the public? Good comparison. Thoughts and prayers to the family
  8. Small Gatorade bottle. Thicker plastic…no noise.
  9. I think they're made in China, but are solid guns. Big beefy frame, bolt and extractors. For the money they are a good buy.
  10. LOL!! I'll trade you some "wild game" meat for an AR-15 with some high cap mags….just don't tell anyone….
  11. 300gr. Hornady XTP with 2 50gr. Pyrodex pellets fly great out of my rifle and they hit hard. They are priced pretty good too.
  12. I saw heavy chasing in7F on Halloween morning up to around the 7th or 8th of November. Then in 9x I saw the same from Nov. 14th to the 18th. My buddy shot a nice 8 on opening day, that was dogging a doe. I saw small bucks and even a button, doing the same. Who knows??????
  13. I had a 2002 AC 400. Great machine. I sold it to a friend in 07. He still has it and the thing has had a total of zero problems for both of us. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Arctic Cat, especially at that price.
  14. LOL!! He screamed like a little girl..That was funny!

    meat storage

the guy who cuts mine up uses freezer paper and is pretty good at labeling the packs (wax pencil, not magic marker that you can taste when it bleeds through the paper) I separate the cuts/packs and put them in big paper shopping bags and fold the bags closed. It prevents freezer burn for a long time.
  16. congrats!!… A deer on Thanks Giving is a PLUS…..
  17. TENDERLOINS??????? UUuuuuggggggg. Almost any cut will come out just as good for jerky. Save those loins for a sauté', broil, grill or roast. Buuutt it is your deer... so enjoy!!
  18. Great news, glad to hear it!!! Happy Thanksgiving !
  19. I haven't been out since Monday, and I have had good luck on turkey day so I'll be out for at least a few hours. I heard that the neighbors will be out so maybe the deer will get pushed around a little. Good luck to those who head out.

    Turkey day

I will definitely do the morning hunt. Over the years, I have tagged deer several times on the A.M. Turkey day hunt . Fingers crossed for this year. Good luck and happy Thanksgiving to all..
  21. Very cool.. congrats. My brother in law got a he/she about 15 years ago but it was only a 4 point, still in velvet.
  22. I think they were just trying to help people keep their pets safe during hunting season. Its more of a safety thing IMHO, just like a report that would warn hunters to wear orange.
