  1. Criminal scum will not turn in their illegally possessed guns. End of story. I have seen these gun amnasty programs first hand. The only people who turn in guns are little old ladies, who turn in their deceased husbands guns and other law abiding citizens who want to get rid of legally owned guns. You do get a few crack heads who come in with either old broken guns or BB guns, looking for a quick buck. The majority of guns turned in at these programs are old long guns. Its all B.S. the news will report about how many "dangerous weapons" were taken off the streets, but its all window dressing. They will never tell you how many criminal gang bangers turned in their guns because the number would be ZERO. The answer is to use existing gun laws and send people, who violate gun laws, away for a long time and do it consistantly. As it is right now, if a career criminal scum bag is caught with an illegal handgun he might- might go away for a few months tops. Welcome to the real world.
  2. The Gander by me (Cicero NY) has gone way down hill. When they first opened, about 6 or so years ago, they were great. They stocked everything and had good prices. Total opposite now and I don't know why.
  3. As kids we all had Crossman 760's. The ones you pump up for more power. It wasn't recommended to pump it more than 10 times so of course we all gave it 20-30 pumps. They had some power.
  4. Just heard a news update and it does not sound good. What kind of sub human piece of crap just murders a bunch of little kids like that?? Killing innocent adults is bad enough but little kids? Burning in hell is too good for that piece of crap. Prayers to the families.
  5. Those results sound pretty impressive, for a rimfire. Yeah .25 cal would be cool. He said that the round out performed the closest rimfire in its class. I assume that would be a .22 mag?? If its out shooting the 22 mag. by that much it would definitely handle coyotes no problem.
  6. They will never stop making A$$ holes. Hopefully DEC will show up and find the deer still hanging at your neighbors. Maybe they can tell that the deer was shot with slugs and slap him with a fine.
  7. Same here. I've killed a pile of deer with a 30-06 (and a few others with a 7-08) and they pile right up with a good hit. I have seen deer taken with smaller cal. rifles and noticed that a lot of times the deer will run and leave no blood, causing some hunters to think they missed. I remember a while back, one of the old timers shot a big doe at about 250 to 300yards with a 223. He shot it from a logging road while the deer was out in a big meadow. He pointed out where the deer was standing, when he shot ( he knew he hit it good) and I headed out on the ATV to get it for him. I found it dead just inside the wood line. There was zero blood from the spot the deer was shot to the spot where I found it. It ran a good 150 yards. I couldn't even find a bullet hole.
  8. He was glaring at you and then fires off two rounds with out looking??? I would take that as a threat and report it to the State Police. Get it documented. This guy is more than an a$$ hole he's a crazy a$$ hole. Report it, move your stand and keep your distance as best you can.
  9. Congrats and congrats!! I went to my daughters ceromony last night and It was awesome . I know how ya feel and it is GREAT!!! Congrats to you and your daughter again, and god bless.
  10. I remember as a kid, my uncle showing me his 1911 and a German P-38 that he brought back from the war. I remember him telling me how great they shot. Don't know how he got them back in working order but he did. As an 11-12 year old kid I remember how sweet that 1911was. He dropped the mag., cleared the chamber and said " this thing will stop a horse" Way cool!!
  11. Brace your self for the whole " blame guns " thing. It was reported today that he stole the rifle from a friend. "But if the friend never had the gun this would not of happened" blah....blah..blah .... Pass the granola
  12. Yeah ... I just talked to the guy who lives next door to the farm.. He thinks that the 4 point may have recently bred a doe and still has her smell on him. Makes sense.
  13. Just sneak the 7mm-08 out to the range, let a few fly and sneak it back to the house. She'll never know. I've been doing crap like that for years.
  14. Start with 2. If that makes them fly good stick with, it if not try 3 pellets. My gun shoots awesome, at 100 yards ,with two pyrodex pellets (100 grns) behind a 300 grain bullet. Everyones gun will be different do start with two pellets and see what happens. Good luck
  15. I thought of that too. I have seen two does with antlers taken. One by a buddy and one by my brother in law and those deer's racks were small, weird looking and still in velvet even though they were both taken in late November...Who knows..Weird $hit...
  16. I've done pretty well this year, but I still have doe tags and friends who want meat, so yeah I'll be out at least a couple times between now and the week end. Trying to get my father in law to go. He still has a buck tag. Good luck
  17. I just took a drive by the farm I hunt. There were two small bucks, a six and I think the other was a four, out in the plowed field may 60-70 yards from the road. I stopped and watched them for a while and the six kept trying to mount the four. They would graze for a minute or two then he would try to mount the four. The four would move off a little, they would eat some more then the same thing. He tried it about 4 or 5 times. I saw this one other time, years ago, while bow hunting. What the hell??
  18. What a find!! I assume that gun is full auto??I hope that wont screw things up when the lady tries to sell it.
  19. I love 150 grain Remington core lokt. They fly great out of my rifle and they knock deer on their a$$. I also think the 150's work better than the 165's I have used in the past. I think the Core Lokt bullet, itself is a good bullet (reloaders rolling their eyes now....I know). For the past few seasons I have been hunting with a 7mm-08 loaded with 140 gr. core lokt and I get great performance with that load too. Nice exit holes and the deer pretty much go nowhere.
  20. Welcome aboard. Im in 7F..hunted 7J for 30 years
  21. I have always had good luck with the plain jane factory stuff, mostly Remington cor-lokt. I shoot the 150 grain out of my 30-06 and the 140 grain out of my 7mm-08. The Winchester Power points are pretty good too, but my guns like the Rem. stuff a little better. I'd say shoot what flys the best out of your gun. whether it's the plain factory stuff, or the premium, but I would start with the plain stuff first. Just me.
  22. I miss the days when no one ever even heard of "political correctness" I miss the days when teenagers didn't wear their pajamas out in public I miss the days when people were polite and showed curtosy for other people I miss the days when people were a little embarassed to be on welfare I miss the days of $2 a gallon gas I miss the days of 50 cent draft beer night I miss the days when hippies just stayed home with their bong Starting to get depressed, I'll finish later
