I have been using an 835, for turkeys 21" barre,l for over 20 years. I have dumped a ton of toms with it and it has run great. Its still my one and only turkey rig. I had one issued with it and Mossberg was great about it. You can hunt anything with this gun, You can run the lightest 2 3/4" game loads to the heaviest 3 1/2" turkey/waterfowl loads. If you get a slug barrel, you're set for deer too. I'd say go for it... Good luck.

Good deal…Congrats!!! When you have him/her over just spoil the kid, give him/her as much ice-cream and candy as they want, get the kid as hyped up as you want and at the end of the day send the little one home with mom & dad. Then relax and watch a game or something.. Pretty simple... I have thought about this way too much...

I try to load my iron sites to 150 grain. Especially for my Koopenfarger 71

I thought it was on a week ago when I saw a big buck following and grunting at some does. But ever since then deer, bucks and does, have just been cruising through. Found fresh scrapes the other day though…Hopefully the morning will be good.

7.35x52 Norwegian 142grain Assfarners boat tails out of my Wolfenbangerer 1933 short action, built off the Crotchmower design. Topped with a Tasco Pronghorn 3-9x40. Best deer set up on earth!!! I wanted to be the first to toss in an old odd ball that no one has ever even heard of….You know its coming !!

I have no problem with background checks. What I have a problem with is Politicians who pretend to address gun violence by passing laws that infringe on the rights of honest gun owners yet criminals and mentally ill people will never obey these laws. None of these "Politicians"ever address the mental health issue, they never address inter city gang/gun violence, they never address career criminal repeat offenders, instead we get crap like our little two bit dictator telling us that we can't have more than 7 rounds in a mag, we can't have a semi rifle with a pistol grip..Pass all the background check laws you want,, until the real problems are addressed they will do nothing. And Debbie Wasserman Shultz is a dishonest, lying scum bag who will say ANYTHING if it benefits her and her party..Did I mention she's a scum bag???? LOL!!

I shot a deer 2 years ago at a little over 200 yards and thats by far the longest shot I have ever taken. I would say average is about 50yds.

Meaning that they never openly admit to their failures….Truly humble indeed

I think we all customize our guns, in one way or another. I have guns that I have placed duct tape on, to make pop up scope caps fit better, or to make a sling swivel less noisy. I have replaced stocks and for ends, I have cut scope caps to make them fit better on low mounted scopes, I have removed sights, on guns I have scoped, not because they were in the way of the scope, but to make rifles easier to carry. I have changed butt plates/pads, added cartridge bands, All kinds of non gun smithing stuff

Been using a Ruger M77 in 7mm-08 for the last 5-6 years, topped with a Nikon 3-9x40 and loaded with Remington 140 Gr. Core Lokts. Awesome deer rig and I have been successful with it. But I think Im going to give my old Remmy 700 CDL 30-06 some play time. Older Simmons 4-14x40 scope (it was an expensive scope at the time) loaded with the new Hornady American Whitetail 150 grain, inter lock ammo. They group great out of that old rifle. But I also have a new Ruger American in 25-06 that shoots the Hornady American whitetail 117 grainers, less than an inch at 100 yards HHMMMMM.. Probably still give the nod to the old Remington….I miss its company in the stand..LOL!!

Don't listen to the Monday morning quarterbacks……..After I lost a deer 2 years ago, I was dumb enough to post about it and all the perfect people did nothing but give me crap about it.."Why did you hunt in the rain?? why didn't you call deer search?? why didn't you practice more??" Blah blah freaking blah… Humans make mistakes and things go wrong even when you think they won't. Except for the perfect few of course… Try not to sweat it too much.. it sucks but it happens…..
