not in the wind that is impossible lol
-
ok so one going between a food plot and a bedding area is moving. um it went and fed so it was moving. They dont move in the wind to the majority dont to I got lucky. NO I was not afraid to go out in the wind. The deer mioved at my camp as much this weekend as they ever do. I shot one but saw others moving all weekend. Sounds more to me like it was easier to stay in bed and blame the weather.

I shot a deer that was moving Saturday morning at 8AM. So the whole deer dopnt move in the wind, I find that theory kind of over used.

It is a conspiracy against you. Everyone else has had great weather all week. We have to make the best of what we have I guess.

I use the big can but if you turn it back over it will make short bleats too roll it over roll it back it works well.

I watched a video last year before I went to camp. The guy who was supposedly a call expert. he said a long bleat in other words letting it cycle all the way through is a distress bleat more like a fawn would do if needing the doe. he said you are supposed to do three short bleats quickly to mimic ann estrus doe. Then do so again in about 5 minutes. I did the first set that way and before I could do the second, the buck walked right up within 30 yards of me with his nose in the air. I was just standing against a tree. I pulled the gun up he saw me flagged took two jumps stopped and put hi snise back in the air trying to locate his lady friend. Well his method made me a believer. That is why I say I willll ot use it yet as the does r eno where near ready.

all I use is a primos can. it brought an 8 point 195 pound deer in on a string last year on 10/30. I dont use one before then as they are not that interested yet, and it only gives you away as far as I am concerned.

well in between monsoon rains saturday morning, I managed to get into the stand about 720AM. Long story short, there was no way I was taking out the flint lock. Well about 8 years ago I purchased for my father in law an H&R sidekick 50 caliber and put a 4x32 bushnell scope on it. Well he passed away before he could hunt with it. Anyway I decided to take it out yesterday with a load fo blackhorn 209 85 grains. Hornady XTP 240 grains and a harvestor crush rib sabot and winchester trilpe 7 primers. I have the modified metrics unlimited plug in it. My new 2 man stand is at a place where three trails come together that lead to three food plots, and there is a swamp right behind it.. When I was about 10 feet from the stand, I bumped a deer about 50 yards from the stand. I figured my morning was wasted, but I got up in the stand. Afterall, it was opening morning. The wind was blowing pretty stiff right into my face. In fact, it blew my hat off. At 8:02 according to my watch a nice doe came up the trail to about 65 yards from me, stopped and turned broadside. I dropped the hammer on her and she ran about 30 yards and piled up. I really though the world of my father in law and was pretty emotional. I crawled down reloaded, and walked over to the doe. As I approached, there was a break and the sun popped out. it was nice. i drug her to the trail and got the 4 wheeler.

My truck is packed and as soon as my daughter arrives, I am out the door for camp. Nowork until 10/24, so maybe I can get in some time. Good luck to all.

seems bad things always happen at the last minute

not necessarily if he has a certificate from where he is from. Ny state will accept a certificate from other places. But since this was only the second post, I expect more info searching than a real plan.

I m off to camp tomorrow for the week off and on, weather depending. A few things to do around home, so I iwll be back and forth. Best of luck everyone either ml or bow.

I am just starting t0 see pics on my cam. I moved it to a new location last friday evening next to a stand that was put up 3 weeks ago. I rode the atv back and set it up. I went back sunday afternoon rode the 4 wheeler back and changed sd cards. I had 9 deer pics all walking within 10 feet of the new put up and trimmed out stand, mostly between 8 and 845 am and 515 and 6 pm. One a deent 6 point. I think sometimes we way overthink and analyze what we are doing. Deer patterns change with the season and weather changes and food sources. After the neighbor cut his corn field, deer moved again. All I know is which stand I plan to be in the saturday morning.

If deer never moved in warm weather, they sure would be skinny in the fall. They will move, but in my experience it is more mid day in warm weather.
