Remington 700 Varmit rifle in 308 win
erussell replied to erussell's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
model 700 varmit with heavy barrel. It has a HS percision stock with aluminum bedding not sure if that means its "floated" but the stock is bedded ,yes. Now asking $650 for gun, rings, bipod, and 62 rounds of ammo. -
Calling it insanity gives the impression they have no Idea what they are doing. I beleive they know exactly what they are doing. A crappy economy doesn't help either. Some people are desperate for money and would steal their mothers dentures and sell them to make a quick buck. Others are probably just pissed off in general and will take it out on anyone because they are an A hole by nature and stealing your stand somehow sticks it to the man in their mind even though they are just hurting one of their own. So beware even if its tied down it could still disapear. Its human nature to do wrong, How does the saying go. Arrest a man for stealing bolts from a train track and send him to college and when he graduates he will have figure out how to steal the whole train station.

State $$ for food plots?
erussell replied to Localqdm's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
No, I think he meant that he can not fill them in (as in bulldoze the dirt back in) for ten years. :D got a good laugh on that one -
use to do it all the time till i relized i wasn't using it for the purpose it was intended. My deer kills went way up after I started moving around with it. But yes you can lock it on a tree with no ill results, just like a chain on.

Some folks just never cease to amaze me
erussell replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in General Chit Chat
I had to show a lady from NJ how to put gas in her car one time at a gas station because apperently she had never done it before. -
unless this deer was walking in open fields or down 4 wheeler trails he wouldnt have made it through any of the thick stuff around my house.
-
where you guys fish at? I fish mostly Whitney Point and long pond and sometime Quaker lake in PA, but my Buddy just bought a house up on Oneida Lake and says the water stays in the 8 to 15 ft range till about 50 ft from shore then it drops right off into 40 ft so it should be a good area. Neighbor says they do good on perch there.
-
This deer was literally 10 ft from a gut pile and a through and through right behind the shoulder through both lungs. There was no drag mark, looks like whomever it was shot the mom and she dropped right there and then shot the fawn and he dropped right there to. Still pissed about it. Walked past it the other day and all that's left is hair and skeleton. looks like the yote population needs a little thinning in Candor.

looks like a community rub. I have a cedar tree everyone rubs on on one of my areas and they have almost rubbed it inhalf

This weekends rubs found on state land.

I have been hitting the stateland hard the last few weekends and have been seeing a lot of deer. Most of the hunters I have seen are only 200 yrds off the road or closer. No one wants to get lost so they play it safe. Most of the deer i am seeing are a mile back in the thickest crap you can find plus the tracks are night tracks and they are laying up all day because no one is pushing them around because no one is going in after them. Pic below is of a tree I killed on a 150 yrd shot on a group of bedded doe. There were 6 of them and they were 1/2 mile back past all the human tracks. Was kind of suprised when she got up and stood there then all of them walked off as I reloaded my front stuffer. If you look just above the stump of the tree you can see where my bullet hit. The tree fell on her and the bullet must have blew her right out of her bed

Do Bobcats kill deer? I guess so who'da thunk it.
erussell replied to erussell's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
and in one of the pics you can see other deer running off to. So im sure the deer wasnt already dead. -
I still want to give blackhorn a try, if its as good as they advertise its worth a look. I mean 1inch groups at 100 yrds after 40 shots and no swabbing is pretty incredible if you ask me.They even say you dont have to clean right after shooting because its non corrosive Here's their site. http://www.blackhorn209.com/

Someone in My Stand - It's an ethical thing
erussell replied to screamon demon's topic in General Hunting
And make huge rubs and scraps on all the trees around the stand. I love that one. -
I have wanted to use the blackhorn 209 but no one sells it around me. This is the 1st yr I have used 777 and I am quite happy with it. Still leaves a crud ring but it seems to be easier to clean than the pyrodex and without the stank. I can hold a tighter group with the 777 than I could with pyrodex. Not sure why, maybe there manufacturing process is a little more accurate.

speachless, I guess its just one more furry predator to blast if opportunity knocks. http://www.23mm.com/deer/bobcat.cfm

I shot a pig one time on Fort Polk in Lousiana about 1 mile back in the rough. After dragging it 1/2 mile down a tank trail I got tired and couldnt go anymore. So I had a bright idea to go get the corrolla and come get it. Well I got down there fine and got the pig in the back of the trunk. I tried to turn around and went off the side of the road a little and got stuck in the sand and just spun my tires. So I had to walk back out to the road and wait till someone with a truck came along. Luckily they did after a few hrs and came back and pulled me out.

They stuff in the trunk real nice

We bottomed that car out twice on big rocks sticking out of the road and most of the way we had one tire in the middle of the road and the other in the ditch. It wasn't fun.
