  1. No, not in a million yrs would I consider a behind the fencer a true hunter. Let me say this is IMO so not to offend some on this forum who think it is an sin to have an opinion. : I'm sure someone will put there 2 cents in here someplace saying there is no difference between fair chase and a behind the fencer. Which is IMO not fair chase and only has it not been outlawed because of the big money clientel that keep it open so they can rub themselves and call themselves hunters. That aught to get them started
  2. Found this site I think People who are looking for cameras might enjoy. http://www.trailcampro.com/
  3. must stay warmer down there, I wouldn't venture out in this cold to bow hunt.
  4. 3x9x40 is more than enough for 100 yrd. I have a fixed power 4x30 I use on my muzzleloader and practice out to 120 yrs. Brand name is important IMO I have seen some of my friends buy substanders scopes and come to hate them.
  5. No sir. His beam was broken off sometime in late Sept. or early October. He won't have to worry about me until he becomes of shooter age @ 3.5...but the neighbors are a different story. awesome photos, I can't wait till I get my trail cam. Keep planting lots of food and saving up the does and they wont go anywhere.
  6. And the cockroach will pick both their bones when they both die off
  7. Your sure to get a ticket for something if he shows up. I had a job at work the other night that was wrong, so I looked up the previous operation and who ran it and the guys sign on name was shitte. I said well that explaines it.
  8. Yes, I have heard that statement before, even though it absolutely defies logic. I have never seen the study that supposedly proves that theory, and I believe that where I first saw that stated was in a newspaper letter to the editor written by a clearly anti-hunting person who was appalled at the local coyote hunting contest.... : . However, I keep an open mind on the subject and if someone can show me a credible study that actually proves that "hunting coyotes makes more coyotes", I am willing to listen. Doc I get a kick out of this too Doc. Its like the people who say hunting Deer is what causes them to be overpopulated, because next yr the herd compensates for the lost #'s. If this was true most of the areas I hunt would be over populated to the gills with the hurting we put on them. The problem with yotes is they are travelers. Its nothing for them to do 20 miles in a day or so. So if you kill all your local yotes off, the next litter from miles away will just fill in the unused realestate giving the impression that the local population has bounced back when really your just killing the offspring from the next moutain or two over. From what I have read if you want to put the pressure on them and take it off the fawns hunt them more in the spring. Would like to get out and do some yote killing but would like to give it a rest for a while, I just spent the last 3 months hunting just about everyday for deer. I think the old lady would have a fit if I started up coyote hunting right away.
  9. And they just love it when they spend all that time on you and you walk out the door.
  10. I had a friend who had one of those. Except it was chambered in 270. He let a friend of his shoot it one time, and he put the gun right up to his face to look through the scope. Before my friend could stop him he pulled the trigger and just about nocked himself out, and split his forhead open. I guess it took a few stiches to close it all up to.
  11. My question is how did they drag a 1000 lbs moose out of the woods, get it to the meat pole and get it hung up for what is clearly a biggest deer or bear contest and not moose, and why?
  12. Anyone ever have a bear get a hold of your camera? I have a lot of bears where I hunt .
  13. I have the possibility of getting a game camera for my birthday and have been doing some research. I would like to spend around $150 , so that it doesn't hurt so much if it gets stolen. I have read a hundred reviews on just about every camera out there in that price range and the only camera that I have read good reviews about are the Primos brand Game cameras. Stealth and Moultrie had mixed reviews, some people had problems with their camera and some people had problems with the service after the purchase. I personally would like to stay away from stealth. I purchased a stealth 35mm camera back a few yrs ago and never got it to work at all, And Imwas never able to reach customer service either. Does anyone use a Primos and are they as good as the reviews?
  14. My uncle shot what he thought was a big doe the last week of muzzleloader. Imagine his suprise to see two huge bloody spots on top of his head. He thinks it might be the 10 point hes been after all season by how big the holes are. Hope its not, hes really bumed over it. I haven't seen deer drop antlers this early in a long time. I have only seen one earlier and that was last week of gun one of my other uncles shot a baby 4 point that had already lost a side and when he went to drag away on the other one that one fell off also. Maybe I can get out this weekend.
  15. Must be something about the 81 corridore south of syracuse this yr. First that beast taken in Homer and now Lisle. Lisle is kind of a suprise though with all the outlaws up that way. Not alot of monsters like that running around Broome County.
  16. [quote author=letinmfly link=topic=2896.msg34324#msg34324 date=1293041748 Secondly make it that only one buck can be harvested during a given calendar year. For those that hunt with bow, gun and ML. Allow the taking of one antlerless deer in each of the other two seasons in which the buck is not harvested. This way a hunter can legally harvest three deer in one year. Sounds good on paper, but how many guys do you know that shoot 2 bucks a yr. I don't think it would really help anything and I can't hold it against someone if there luckier than me and kill 2 bucks in one hunting season. More power to them.
  17. cool pics, deer had my turnips and rape and rye plot gone in a few days after the 1st or 2nd frost. They ate it right down to dirt. By the time I got around to bow hunting, it was to late. Will have to enlarge it considerably this yr. Also going to work in 2 other spots for rape and oats this yr to. Hopefully with 3 plots it will break up the feeding a little and they will last longer.
  18. Want to buy a nice flintlock kit from track of the wolf to work on this winter. plus I never use it. I agree its a tack driver, 300yrds is boring shooting with it. Need something atleast 500 yrds to make it some sort of a challenge. Ive just lost all interest in modern cartridge guns, Though I would trade for a remington 7600 synthetic pump if anyone is interested in an even trade. I find the front stuffers addictive and fun to shoot. Unfortunatelly I have about $1500 invested into this gun and I think I will have to take a schellacking to offload it. The gun is basiclly brand new, I started breaking in the barrel by cleaning after every shot. The scope Im not sure what to do with it yet. Im afraid I wont get anywhere near what I paid for it and it is basiclly brand new also. I might trry and put it on my inline muzzloader though I think it is more scope than is needed for it. Maybe put it on craigslist and see what happens.
  19. I think the key word is "and" and (during the late seasons with the appropriate bow or muzzleloading privileges. During the late seasons, the Regular Season deer tag is valid for deer of either sex.
  20. Yes you can. Q: May I use my Regular Season deer tag during the special seasons? A: Your Regular Season deer tag cannot be used in the Early Bowhunting* or Early Muzzleloading seasons. It can only be used in the Regular Deer Seasons in the Northern and Southern Zones to take a buck. Except, the Regular Season deer tag is valid for deer of either sex in Westchester & Suffolk counties, in areas restricted to bowhunting only (WMUs 4J and 8C), and (during the late seasons with the appropriate bow or muzzleloading privileges. During the late seasons, the Regular Season deer tag is valid for deer of either sex. ) * Your previous year's unused regular season deer carcass tag, accompanied by your previous year's bow privilege, can be used from September 27-30 during the Northern Zone Bowhunting Deer Season and is valid for deer of either sex during this period.
  21. 90% of the people I know hunt only the weekends for gun anyhow so I dont see how shortening gun season will help if most gun hunters are only hunting 6 days out of the season. What are we going to do shorten it to 4 days. But I am for lengthening the muzzloader season till at least the 24th in the southern zone, never made sense to me why it ended on a Tuesday.
  22. See those look real the other one looks like its a photo of a painting. Its just weird looking. What kind of cell phone is it?
  23. Can't wait for it to end, I'm getting tired of cutting up deer.
  24. Probably lived in all those swamps and corn fields along 81 north around the rest stop. Ive always said there has to be huge deer in there. I also saw a deer this big hanging at a barn along 96b north of Candor anyone heard of that deer yet?
