  1. I learned not to abandon birds that have henned up first thing in the morning.........an hour or two later they'll be out looking for more. I actually had more action between 8 and 12 than in any of the early morning hours.
  2. hollow points are used not only because they're effective at killing people, but also because they fragment on impact, reducing the chances of the bullet exiting the body or passing through walls, etc.....full metal jackets are a poor choice for Law Enforcement work.
  3. I gotta look it up, which spelling should I go with, the first or second?
  4. the Lt. Governor is a lame duck position unless something should happen to the Governor.....please don't vote based on her beliefs, the chances of her having any effect on Cuomo's position is slim to none.
  5. oldest I could find was from the late 60's............
  6. yeah, I don't buy that one either........way back in the 30's they issued pins to be worn.
  7. I think the way the law reads, is that if you're not wearing it where required, the presumption is that you're unlicensed and can be ticketed as such regardless of whether or not you have your license and backtag somewhere on you.....I have a copy of the ECL law and will take a look when I get a chance to confirm if anyone is interested.
  8. stopped in to Dick's sporting goods and looked at the Stoeger, didn't really like the feel of it.....then I looked at a Benelli Super Black Eagle, looks like I'm going to spend a bit more than I anticipated, just gotta unload a few guns I never use to cover the cost.
  9. that's pretty amazing isn't it? you could have spent a million dollars on a house and property, fully pay it off, and it can be taken away for unpaid taxes, and they simply auction it off for the amount of the taxes that are owed..unreal.
  10. we used to bowfish for them, had a neighbor that was from Louisiana that would cook them up a couple different ways , pretty good eating if done right.........
  11. I can't comment on the Chessie, but fully agree on the Swamp Collie...........go with the Lab, you won't be sorry.
  12. a politician flip flopping on their stances?.....now that's unheard of.
  13. a pro gun organization keeping records of gun owners and potential members? no way!
  14. the crap they send as a gift is embarrassing..........they should save that money, and the money they waste on sending junk mail to people who are already members, on educating and recruiting non-members..as for the phone calls? I just hang up at this point.
  15. nuclear missile silo?.....is the seller VJP or Papist?
  16. I hate to say it, but I would bet the ability to own ANY type of firearm under the sun is probably pretty low on many peoples scale of what makes where they live a great place...the fact that I can draw a 200 mile radius circle around my home and pretty much partake in most of what this state has to offer is appealing to me.......taxes, cost of living and politics suck, but that aside it's not a terrible place to live.
  17. that's close to the price you'll pay for a quality, one animal hunt in the U.S. these days..........good deal for sure.
  18. just out of curiosity, does NY have the massive flights of Doves that some of the States were it is popular have? I haven't seen it, so my exposure to Doves is a few pair here and there just like any other bird.....if that's the case throughout NY, I can see exactly what Doc is saying, the majority see them as songbirds and not a viable game species...myself included.
  19. it's a total breakdown of society as we once knew it.......just look around and see what people are doing today as opposed to 25 years ago, everyone has their faces planted in their smart phones, kids spending hours on end playing video games, nobody knows their neighbors anymore, the days of the stay at home mom who raises her own child are pretty much gone, if someone's kid does something wrong it's never the kids fault, the Police who are trying to do the right thing have to answer to every silly complaint, this past Memorial Day I was driving around and was totally shocked by the lack of people flying The American Flag, years ago it was odd if someone didn't fly one, to me that say's a lot..........they can pass all the laws they want and at this point it will make zero difference because too many people no longer care.
  20. I think once you start going outside of this country, NY's gun laws probably don't look so bad.
  21. I'm not embarrassed to be from NY, but it's not really something I take pride in........I'm sure there's much better places to live when it comes to taxes and politics...........but, NY does offer quite a bit to its residents.
  22. I think that mental illness only comes into play in a small number of the gun crimes we hear about, mainly these extreme mass killings.........I'm sure there are many killings that were carried out by people who by all standards were your normal everyday person who you would never think capable of something like that until something sets them off.
