The NRA also ran an article in their magazine several months back saying that it's not the government agencies responsible for the shortage, but the everyday consumer who's responsible for the shortage....people are buying up the ammo at an unprecedented rate.

The problem is, is that everyone is afraid of being the one who missed what they think is a "sign" that may lead to some perceived type of potentially violent behavior, and the result is these ridiculous knee jerk reactions......and make no mistake, we're going to see more and more of it coming from our schools and medical professionals who are afraid to take something for more than what it is......it's only going to get worse. -
There is no shortage of gun owners who are clueless about the Safe Act...which leads me to believe there will not be that many people thinking about it when they go to vote this November.

yeah, I would never sell to a gunshop, was just hoping they would give me an idea of what its worth is....no such luck, I'm well aware of how they work....the scope that's on it is unique, although probably worth nothing (Bushnell), it has a dial on it that you can change from regular crosshairs to post and crosshair.

http://www.gunsinternational.com/Ruger-No-1-B-243-Win-.cfm?gun_id=100422325 thanks, this seems to be what I have or at least an accurate picture, looks almost identical, but mine has open sights.

definitely a No. 1, that's stamped on top of the receiver......I've brought it to a few gunshops, but don't really trust them, seems they get the impression I'm looking to dump it for a quick buck and kinda lowball me on it's value.
-
yeah, it really is a nice gun, and accurate as can be.....that's why I'm trying to find out what it's really worth to someone who appreciates what it is, I will only sell it for top dollar, I inherited it and it cost me nothing, that's why I'll hang onto it unless I get a good offer. It was used once for hunting in Africa by a relative who went on a Safari back in the late 60's, he bought that and a .300 Weatherby magnum just to go, the .243 was used for smaller game and the .300 for the bigger stuff.

no, single shot, I think it's considered a rolling block.
-
I believe so, it's not a light gun by any means......I'll try to post a picture.
-
no, forearm doesn't have that cutout in the front and the forearm is longer with the front sling swivel stud in it and the end of the barrel doesn't have the "bell" on the end.
-
not a full stock international, not sure what it would be considered....I have to do more research., I'm going to call Ruger next week and see what info they can give me.
-
it is, but only because someone expressed an interest, I wasn't actively selling it......... once I took it out of the cabinet and handled I pretty much decided I would only part with it for top dollar.
-
Ruger No. 1 in .243 that I would say is in 90% or better condition.....4 digit serial #, red butt pad and pre-warning.....I'm told those add value.
-
does anyone know of any reliable online resources for determining a guns value, or is getting a blue book of gun values my best bet?

nice collection....
