  1. if it was me, I'd write that spot off and never go back.......
  2. yes.....but as far as Elk being poached I honestly haven't heard of that being a problem.
  3. Nope, no Poachers in PA...........
  4. there is no doubt that still hunting deer with a bow is extremely difficult, so is stand hunting from the ground without a blind.....personally, if I spook a deer I would not keep going after it.
  5. and all the frozen heads that are brought to the Taxidermist after the 15th......
  6. I see that now....really didn't look because I don't need it.
  7. yeah, it's not easy doing what you're doing, I did it for a few years and to be quite honest I got burned out....my biggest problem was not saying no. I'm not sure how it is by you, but L.I. was non stop.
  8. pick your shots and you'll be fine..but it depends on your priorities....I've killed deer that were far from impressive to everyone but me, the fact that I killed them with guns that meant something to me made them special.
  9. I'd toss the back straps and go right for the ribs....I hear they're the best part on a deer.
  10. they were tough to come by this year....out of the 6 of us who applied, we got 1.
  11. had nothing to do with making money on the bow, like I said previously if the guy had only been able to afford the shipping and made good on it, I would have been happy.....I certainly don't need the $ he said he would send me for the bow and my trouble....I'll probably do the same thing in the future, just be more careful that the recipient isn't a random visitor.
  12. pretty much that's all there is to it........I honestly can't let go of the tree until I'm strapped in these days, a couple unplanned trips down the tree put a little fear of heights into me. Back in the day, I hunted out of stands that would make me shake my head out now.
  13. they look pretty good..........and I don't know how much cheaper you can get.
  14. most treestands come with a harness these days.....when I climb I just put the tree strap around the tree, clip the harness on and just keep moving it up until I reach the desired height, only takes a few seconds to move it each time. I wouldn't get a cheap harness for myself or my kids....main reason being they are a pain in the ass as opposed to some of the vest style ones with the seatbelt type buckles......the way I see it with some of the cheap ones, is although they may save you from hitting the ground, they might kill you by strangling you to death, they would be impossible to get out of while hanging there if needed.
  15. I can't imagine placing it directly on the trail would be a better choice then off to the side.....is 6ft as far off as you can get it?
  16. I was surprised not to see any from Suffolk County yet.....but then I remembered.
  17. I cancelled those channels on my own with my cable provider.....I was more upset when they temporarily cancelled Food Network.
  18. did you attempt to track him at all last night or did you just back out and leave him alone?
  19. so the only time you're not tied in is the initial setup?
  20. def. start a thread on shot placement.....
  21. ya think?, I would call that a good year for where I hunt.....
  22. not to derail, but that's a good picture to show how far forward you can actually aim....I think most aim too far back, as I used to do prior to getting a better understanding of the anatomy....probably worth starting a new thread with that pic.
