I want to be in the stand when the sun comes up give or take 15-20 minutes. I dont really wanna be 2 hours into my hunt when the light breaks.

I can't see the bullet splitting pretty much at all. And even if one bullet split that would only be 3 holes since you said he moved out a bit more before you shot again. And I really don't know how you could hit a deer with a 30-06 and have it walk off lol thats nuts. I've shot a few doe with a 30-06 and it blew out the back side like crazy, dropped were they stood every time. Even the 30-30 drops em in place like clockwork.

And to think I took the over at 41.. Lol

No luck. First time that ever happen to me. I found a little blood deeper in just couldn't lay eyes on em. Im shaking my head at this one. Gave it as many trys as possible.

I looked since sun up and can not find it. I heard the hit on the shot. Shot looked decent. The arrow did not pass threw. But picked up blood about 10 maybe 15 yards away bleeding from one side it was gushing pretty good for a few yards then back to spots. Maybe 100 yards in I lost trail in super thick swamp land. Water was anywere from 10 inches to waist high. I had chest waders today last night I was just freezing while looking. Blood was good and red no bubbles that I could see and nothing to make me think it was a gut shot. I can't stand the fact to think I lost that deer but its warm out now and I looked all morning I just can't stand it !!!!

No thick trees its pretty swampy. My guess is he has to be dead just idk how far off from the last time I saw blood. And the water is hit and miss I didn't think he would sink. Off at the crack of morning is all I can do. Hope I find it. Loosing a deer like this is the worst thing that could happen to a hunter outside from falling out of your stand.

Ok so i'm in the stand this afternoon with the bow. A 4 pointer come down the beatin trail and about 30 yards away gave me the shot. I found a nice blood trail and about 30 yards away found my arrow nice and bloody. I kept on the blood trail for another 70 yards it seemed.. Right into a swap. I still kept on wanting to recover my deer badly. I lost the trail a little ways in the swamp. I couldn't find the deer I looked for 3 hours in the cold water past knee high. I never had a deer run off so far after a bow hit. Im going out at the crack of dawn cause I can't stand the fact I lost that deer. How far have you seen deer run after a bow shot with good blood trail. What kind of shot do you think I got I know it had to be a decent hit but I would have thought the deer died sooner than 80 yards. I feel like I was right on top of it. Im shaking my head biggggg time right now.

Read it all good story to go with a good deer. I got out of work late so im up all night to hunt all morning. Congrats!!

Rut is the only time I would use a decoy.

Its something you want to look into really good before getting a crazy weapon charge for a crossbow. And no i'm not being sarcastic one bit. I was arrested in Time Spuare. And yea I said arrested. And it was for walking with a pocket knife lol. It was a tiny 2 1/2 inch folding knife that was clipped to the inside of my pocket. Cops ran up on me pulled a taser and I thought it was done lol. I was so confused at the time cause I had done nothing wrong. But yea long story short I had to fight that in court ( And win ) tooth and nail. Be careful them downstaters coffee is loaded with anti freedom n anti weapons ways.

What time you shoot him. I've asked a few people because it seems like bucks are moving a lot more.

Like almost everything in hunting people always do things different. Now for me I go by what brings me the most success. With scents I like to use them at different times. Right now the bucks will start running around claiming territory making scraps, rubs and what not. So in that case I like to use a young buck smell. I use this smell on and near natural scrapes with the best results but if you know theres a nice buck running around you can make a mock scrape and have him wondering who's in his neck of the woods if done right. Now in a week to ten days the bucks should be near or in peak rut thats when you wanna have fresh doe estrus around. And if used right in the correct placement it will help your chances greatly. Hey as long as your a good shot it's the last snap that deer will hear.

You can get a little kit at wal-mart made by allen. It cost like 10 bucks and has the tube you need in it. You will not have to re sight your bow after putting that tube back on. As for your shot being off. If it's off but your shooting decent groups then you need to re sight your bow. If your just shooting all over the place you need to practice and work on your form.

If im busted it depends what weapon im hunting with. If I have my bow i'll wait as still as possible trying to get the right shot as quickly as I can. If I have my gun the deer is going down. I'll take a headshot if I have to. ( I know thats horrible right )

Everyone does it different so do what works best for you. I do silver skin up. I use a thin but very sharp straight edge knife and run it right underneath the silver skin, works great. I can't stand that skin so I try and get every stich of it off.

If this is a " little guy " I would like to know were you hunt lol.

Hunting is going no were is generates to much tax dollars in one way or another. Ill say were getting somewere when we can go back to the store buy a 20 round mag for a mini-30 or what not.

I like to do both. Rather I have my bow or rifle I sit then walk sit and walk and so on. I have gotten almost all my deer from ground hunting.

I can't believe you said that lol. Im heartbroken for you! Just kidding man everyone's different. Hope you put that good cut of meat to good use. I normally take it from the deer and put it on the grill or fire on the spot.

Inner loins gone for sure. Clean it out real good let it dry out a bit then cut the rest of the deer up.
