Got this doe right before sunset last night. She came out with another doe and a fawn and she was the bigger of the two adults. First deer taken with a bow I just got my bow last year so this is my first full deer season to hunt with a bow and I love it. I did a tonnn of shooting to get ready for this season and it paid off. She led the way out then came the fawn. I had already started to draw my bow and think the fawn heard me. It looked right at me and then the mother did to I let the arrow fly and ended up getting a great shot. She ran maybe 20 yards off the trail and piled up in a shallow swamp land. Lets goo deer season 2013 for my first bow harvest. Im very pumped lol !!!

Actually if im not mistaking it's the 30-03 that fathered the 30-06 and then the 270 was based on the 30-06 round. I could be wrong going to do a quick google search lol.

IMO go with the 270. It's a 30-06 round necked down just a hair. It has less recoil and can do anything you need it to with a good shot. I have a 30-06 and a 270. Ill take the 270 for pretty much anything. The best thing about the 30-06 is the different size rounds you can get for it. But unless you're needing to shoot bigfoot a 270 is a perfect caliber round !!

First thing I would do is go in the woods early before light and stay as late as the light lets you. I like getting in before light and sitting untill noon or so.

Saw a doe on the way in on a morning hunt. Nothing all day went back for a short hunt until dusk and saw another few doe on the walk out. Always seem to see or spook deer while walking.

Went out in the early morning saw a doe maybe 100 yards away while walking in. Got my blood boiling, sat in the stand until about noon and got hungry lol. Lunch time, then heading back out around 3 till dusk. Good luck everyone !!
