  1. If they had that same sneaker in Realtree camo they could call them Bill "Jordans"!
  2. I haven't seen much evidence of yarding here in Erie Co.(9h) Matter of fact, I haven't seen much evidence of deer gatherings PERIOD. Perhaps the are yarded somewhere I am not aware of, but they really seem to be spread out more this winter compared to years past around here. Here's shot I got back in 2013 while shed hunting in East Aurora. This was probably only half of them I could fit in the frame out in the field at one time. I remember another herd of equal size at the other end of this field at the same time.

    Dom/Myself

Just as I suspected...... another white dude in flannel!
  4. For sale is my Nikon AF-S 50mm 1.8G lens. Manual and Auto-focus. Large apperture make this a very fast lens and great in low light photography. Creates very sharp subjects on soft dreamy backgrounds. Lens was purchased last summer and I just never used it as much as I expected I would besides a few field photos, pet portraits, and still shots of flowers. Everything about the lens is in pristine condition. It is a fixed 50mm focal length prime with no dings, dents, scratches, or fungus on body or glass. Comes with original box, packaging, and paperwork, front and rear caps, HB-47 lens hood, lens pouch, and UV filter. Selling for $155 shipped TYD. Few sample images at variety of aperture settings: F/16 F/4 F/2.8 F/1.8
  5. If I had read this 30 minutes ago I would have grabbed a shot of my BB-Q venny burgers. Nothing left to see now but the stains on my T-shirt,lol
  6. Gonna be a nipply weekend no doubt. I got a friend coming over to help me get some wood.
  7. I've been on this site for almost 6 years now. In that time there have been SEVERAL members who believed the universe revolved around them. This gravitational mumbo jumbo is old news to me around here, lol
  8. I'm the same way, but I don't spend nearly as much time putting holes in paper as a lot of guys like to do. I'll send 3 shots down range at 50yds before season starts and that's about it for the year until it's time to kill something. I know I'm good out to 100 under perfect conditions, but never took a shot at game that far with ML. Just feels strange sometimes thinking that some guys feel more comfortable with archery equipment at ranges that push my ML limits. I'm ok with where ever anyone decides to draw the line for themselves and respect those who have the skills to pull it off at a distance. I have no doubt my ML will outshoot my abilities. I was just kind of wondering by how much from effort others put into it.
  9. I ain't jinxing myself with this thread. As soon as I open my mouth it's gonna start pouring out the other end,lol I'm good, thanks for askin'!
  10. When I hung up my shotgun and decided to exclusively hunt deer with the ML, I had imagined a significant increase in long range accuracy. Listening to guys talk about 200-300yd shots had me pretty excited to start reaching out there to pick off some long range whitetail. Now, roughly 13years since my ML'ing start, I've found it to be just the opposite for me with my longest whitetail kill coming this season at 84 yds. (felt like a mile) So just out of curiosity, and not to start a flame fest, I'm wondering what you guys got for longest deer kill shots with the smokepoles and what range you're sighted in for.
  11. Keep your chin up buddy. There's plenty of other fish in the sea! Gotta be a mermaid out there somewhere waiting for a studly sailor like yourself to land her!

    Beer

Mmmmmm...., breakfast beer! What are you smoking....pancakes?
  13. Hey Pygmy, you spelled his damn name wrong! It's Schmidt... not Schmitd. (dt NOT td) You've been messaging the wrong guy,lol
  14. Since he uses his REAL NAME here, why don't you just look him up in the phone book and give him a jingle. Sure he'd love to hear from ya!
  15. I'd invest in some new furniture for your crib.... or fix that squeaky floor board.

    Age

    43. Started hunting with my old man as soon as I was strong enough to make it up the hill with our chairs, lunch, and other accessories in my pack and pockets. I wasn't actually old enough to hunt yet, but sometimes he'd let me "hold the gun" when he ran off to take a wizz over the next hill.
  17. I used to use a liquid waterproof called "Box Call Magic". I think it was by Lohman. Worked great on my Primos Box Cutter and didn't affect the tone/sound/volume one bit. I can't seem to find it anywhere anymore though. That's my excuse to stay home when it rains.

I think that 7200 is good for another 150,000+ clicks! Lots of happy 7200 shooters out there and I'm sure your pops will be one of them.

For $300 you can pick up a new entry level DSLR with standard (18-55mm) kit lens. No way I'd dump that much into a point and shoot. If you don't mind used you can find them for half of that.
  20. Figures you'd pull some crap like that right before Valentines Day!
  21. I found a link to the NOAA Radiosonde model that I found. It doesn't sound like they'll be following up with any further information, but it's pretty cool to learn the impressive journey some of these suckers make! Interesting stuff! http://www.ua.nws.noaa.gov/factsheet.htm
  22. Ran out for a quick hike behind the house this evening and found my first ever weather balloon! I got a little nervous when I first spotted it. First thing that came to mind when I saw that blaze orange up in the treetops from a distance was there was a hunter hanging there since deer season. Fortunately it wasn't anything morbid as that. As much as I was tempted to open it up to see what's inside, I resisted from doing so. It came with a pre-paid envelope/bag to mail it back in one piece so that's what I'll do. Released out of Buffalo on 8/13/15. It took about a 35 mile ride before crash landing where I found it now almost 5 months later.

    Our own survey

9h 1 archery buck 1 ML buck 1 shotgun buck (sisters) Didn't see many doe running around here this year, and the ones we did see were "running around" so didn't take a crack at any of them.
  24. I didn't carry the camera as much as I wanted to this past fall, but I did get a few new shots. Figured I'd post up some color since we're stuck in this white and brown pattern for a few months yet.
  25. I've been using this call for the past 5 or 6 seasons with pretty good results. Love the fact that it has never once froze up on me no matter what the weather. I lost mine while dragging out a deer early in October. I guess that's the only problem I had with it was if you loose your grunt call, you loose you doe and fawn calls with it. Keep an eye on that little spring fastener on the lanyard so it doesn't rust and break off the way mine did. Soon as this snow melts I'll be looking for mine, but I wont hesitate to order another if it doesn't turn up.
