  1. Without lakes, where would we go to see girls in BIKINIS!!!
  2. I was thinking about this when I saw the list of hunting celebrities that were going to be at the show this year. I remember talking to Tim waaaaay back when I first started logging on to these hunting sites. I think he was on Hunting Forums.com or something like that. He always seemed like a stand up kind of guy and never got roped into a hot discussion without keeping his cool composure. Who would have thunk he would have turned out to be so successful in the celebrity hunting mix of guys! Sure came a long way since those days!
  3. Fuuny Doc! Auto focus helps, and is usually good enough, but it's not always as fast as I need it to be and still miss a lot of shots I wish I had nailed. The hardest thing for me is switching settings between say shooting landscapes or waterfalls and next thing you know you're face to face with a fuzzy critter. It has become sort of second nature now after so many years of doing this. I don't have to look down at the dials and buttons on my camera to make adjustments any more I just need to remember to do it. For this guy I had to do that on the fly as he scurried up and down, and over and under the boulders along the edge of the stream. Wish I was ready for this first shot of him shooting out the pipe, but maybe next time I am...
  4. Talk about your routine day getting overly complicated.... sheeesh! That was pretty damn funny!
  5. Those are already sold but I'll be putting a few more together soon. Maybe one or two will eventually find their way into the classifieds, but right now it's easier to make them for local pick up without having to ship.
  6. Right now, with only one antler on the year, the future of my lamp building endeavor isn't looking so bright. I need to get out and start picking up a few more "things" in the next month or two to "shed some light" on why it's been such a despicable season so far! Perhaps they know what I have planned for them, lol
  7. I'll be bouncing around from the kettle corn to the beer stand. If I'm not at either of those two places I'll be in the bathroom! If you see a guy running through the parking lot with a big shed antler in his hands and security hot on his tail.... that might be me too,lol
  8. Great gobbler.., great mount.., great pics.., great job! You sure he's dead, lol
  9. Ahhh yes...., you know spring has finally arrived when you see the first "North American Hula-bootie" of the year, lol!
  10. The only time I really try to get them to shock gobble is when they have gone silent or hung up out of sight to my turkey sounds. Getting them to shock gobble should be used to reposition on a bird that's going away, or make a bird that has gone silent reveal his location again so you can adjust which way your looking for him to appear. Sometimes just getting him to make any kind of sound will let you know if you should get up and move, or sit tight. Nothing worse than having a gobbler you've been working go silent and slip in behind you without announcing he's coming or bumping him by moving too soon.
  11. No need to stalk Paula. Just stop by and say hi. I'll buy us a pitcher of beer with 2 straws, lol
  12. I was hoping to finally meet a few of you fine forum members, but I'm not going until Saturday. Oh well.... your loss.
  13. LMAO! If you send them back to me I'll autograph them for you! That way you'll have a good excuse to get them wet to wash 'em off! To Zem Love, wooly
  14. Anyone here going to the show this weekend at the fairgrounds? I missed it last year so planning to go look around again for a bit and set the mood for spring gobblers. If I leave with anything more than a bag of kettle corn I'll be surprised.
  15. When I was in grade school, my old man used to pay me and my sisters $0.01 for every complete worm harness we could bead, clevis, and blade, after dinner and before homework. He'd pre hand-tie 1000's of hooks on wire and monofilament, and crimp the sleeves on the line end. We usually made $5-$10 each/week and got FREE meals and lodging for our labor, lol. He also sold these to "Dustys" and many other tackle shops in the area, so I may have also indirectly had a hand in turkeyfeathers worms indirectly helping you catch a fish! Here's a few I stole from work for my own tackle box before I "retired"! I still keep a few in there un-open as a reminder of where I got my start. Some will call this my allowance..... but trust me, it was a job,lol
  16. I thought I saw a squirrel die in front of me this winter. A big grey came hopping through the woods with an acorn in his mouth. He finally stopped about 10 feet away from me but he didn't seem to notice me there for some reason. Then he stood straight up on his back legs with the nut in his mouth and just froze in that pose for probably 10 seconds straight. Then like in slow motion, he fell flat on his back and just layed there for another 10 seconds or so before popping back up again. I started laughing out loud.... funniest damn thing I've ever seen. When he heard me he shot up the closest tree at 90mph and started barking like mad! The pictures didn't convey the story of what had happened or I'd have posted them.
  17. Stopped to take a pic of a culvert pipe today when this mink came shooting out like he was on the water slide at Six Flags! I see a bunch of them this time of year while hiking, but this is the first time I got a decent shot of one. Question..... Is it now the "mink rut", or what's the deal with the increase in mink sightings this time of year? I really don't know much about them other than this is a good time to see one. Sure I could Google it, but I'll let one of you be my hero by enlightening me with your infinite wisdom of everything wild! .... plus I just wanted to hang his pic here.
  18. I think you're the one who gave us the tip on that sale on another site. They only had two left by the time I got there, so that's all I got, along with clearing out their .50 cent pads and butane bottles. That was quite the sweet deal! Still got mine and gave the other away.
  19. I bought one years ago from CVS for $1.99. For some reason they stopped carrying them and had a MAJOR sale to dump what they had left in stock. They sure work great, but I'm kinda diggin' watching swarms of black flies bang their heads on the shoot through mesh of a blind these days.
  20. Bill Jordan Jackie Bushman Michael Waddell
  21. Nope, they were both buried in the tree the way you see them. I found one more laying on the ground, so I'm up to 4 nice carbons on the season so far. Got a nice variety of broadheads to play around with in the off season now.
  22. Gave 'er hell this weekend but not much to show for it. A couple more dead deer and a few arrows. Saw a bunch of deer, a few turkey, and a red fox out napping in the sun so it turned out to be a pretty nice hike after all.
  23. Good point- fill out your warranty cards and Moen will replace parts/cartridges FREE for life. I installed a Moen bath faucet on my old mans shower, and bathroom and kitchen sinks over 10 years ago and he calls them every 6 months for a new cartridges. Never any inconvenience with that. His well water clogs them up pretty quick. His kitchen sink handle assembly deteriorated away and they sent him a new one no questions asked. Not a bad deal! In an emergency, most folks don't have time to wait for parts to be shipped, or they don't know how to do the job themselves, so they end up paying someone for them. Their warranty does sort of cover a "preventive maintenance" schedule as long as you're faucets are registered with them.
  24. One of my favorite spring sounds, second only to a gobbler! I might have to listen to that a few more times today!
  25. Possible it could be new old stock Dindale? I remember when Moens basic "Chateau" model began shipping in one large box of 20 faucets, with each faucet being individually wrapped in a see-through bag. Looked and felt very cheap! Before that they all came in their own neatly organized box and the extra packaging and dividers helped make them feel like they were considerably heavier. Sure saved a lot of room and shipping weight on the pallet when ordered in large quantities. Also had the same model # as the original. That used to be the standard faucet that went in just about any new home in any Maranno or Ryan subdivision in WNY. There's probably still pallets full of both sitting in warehouses around the area.
