  1. These were all laying on my neighbors 150 acres. I'm still not done looking here. He's not to blame though. He wont shoot at anything under 130" and has a wall of proof of that.
  2. Off to a bad start this shed season. Gonna be lots of dead deer laying around since we didn't have any snow for 99% of the season. I started wandering around a little more near the end of ML season and it didn't take long to start finding some unrecovered casualties from the 2015. My first find was a little spiker that was already reduced to a skeleton by the critters. I just sawed off his headgear. Shortly after that I discovered a 1/2 rack 4pt that couldn't have been laying there too long by the looks of him. Pretty nice buck for a 2pt. Wednesday I got out for a quick afternoon hike and found a buck I was really looking forward to killing myself, or seeing next season. Unfortunately neither of those happened. He was piled up with an arrow sticking out of his guts just in front of his hind leg. I saw this guy a few times after I already filled my archery buck tag so he got to walk. Hate to see him this way, but this is one skull I really wanted and I'm glad I found him before the yotes chewed his face off. I'm afraid to see what else will be laying around out there this year at this rate.
  3. Haha- I opened a box from my sister and found a $1300 24-105mm camera lens inside. Turns out it was a $10 coffee cup,lol It's the thought that counts!
  4. No cranker here, but you can imagine how sweet a gals first deer/buck was at the end of the day. I've never had such a happy hunt in my entire life! It wasn't the most perfect shot. She caught him a lil far back so we trailed him over 300yds. My head was glued to the blood trail which was running out by the step. Sis looked over and spotted him trying to get to his feet. A littlttle confusion amongst us at that point, but she finally settled the crosshairs to DUMP him for good! This was my most memorable hunt EVER! F= big bucks!
  5. I've been waiting for a golden crack at a red fox for some time now but never pulled the trigger since I didn't know what the hell I'd do with one. On 11-3-15 this dude came rolling by the stand at 8yds and I immediately knew I would come up with something.] He was originally supposed to be turned into a fuzzy trappers hat, but insteaed got sewed into a ML accessory pouch. I sewed a fleece liner and stitched it in the best I could. It ain't perfect, but it 's a great reminder of the quiet encounter.
  6. Don't forget you will need plenty of BEER to sooth the scratchy throat that butchering deer is known for!

Seriously..... at 1am, you were probably the least of their concerns, lol I doubt you have as many enemies as you think you have.
  8. Super! Stay warm and toasty the rest of the winter now! Best to get it done early before the non flattering cry-cicles show up in the December field photos, lol
  9. Tough break on the immediate search that didn't end at his carcass. Good luck with the follow up retrieval efforts. Sounds like a superficial hit that may or may not contribute to his demise "down the road".......literally. (but don't take my word for it..) Recovery on a trail like that could take until spring green up after he's succumbed his predation or infection. Great looking buck with some sweet splitz!, Best of luck with the recovery when and IF it was a fatal shot, but good to hear you're following up accordingly no matter how bleak the trail seems where you left off.
  10. Thought I'd drop mine here in the meat locker as well. 10-15-15 12yds.
  11. It's snowing here! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
  12. Thank you everybody! I just prop some sticks behind their ears or antlers out of the cameras sight. I probably put more time into staging field photos than most guys have time for but it started raining before my shoot was over. I only put an hour into these, but my mind was wandering. I dedicate this buck to my good friend "Shedster" who passed away at the end of last month, 800+++ lifetime shed antler finds for this man who's life was cut way too short. Here's some horns off to heaven for you to scoop up my friend!
  13. There are much bigger here. They will have to wait till punkin' season starts, but they are very crafty by then. This was almost too easy by patterning bachelor groups between the fields. Saving the does for my sis so she can get her first kill or maybe a nice buck. Plenty of others still alive that I've seen including a piebald white romper and a nice basket rack dandy double throat patch 7pt I got pics of. I'm OUT till regular gun season opens and I doubt I'll pull the trigger this year again unless it's a real cranker!
  14. October 15'th.. I almost didn't shoot... but I did.
  15. There are always a few of you I can count on to make me laugh when I'm down in the dumps! I'll get them pics up tomorrow some time. Wish you all were there to see my season so far! Best fun I had since my first wife found out about my 2'nd wife and my other G/F! It's been so active here, I'm having a hard time jumping in on your arguments lately after missing out on a few weeks. I promise I'll catch up tomorrow, but it's good to hear from you guys again!
  16. Hey guys, things have been a little crappy for me lately so I haven't been around much. Taking a bit of a break this weekend and I'll try to get some pics loaded from my bow season so far. I did score on a nice buck the other night so I'll try to load those up sometime tonight when I get situated. Thanks for all your concern. I got some catching up to do here!
  17. You know, I probably climbed that tree 100x's this summer without a step or stand to stand on and just hung out taking pictures, lol I screwed a few steps into it for this time of year since I'll be hauling some heavy baggage with me in the coming weeks, and it's one of my easiest tree climbs. You have no clue how long it took me to get that sucker hung on that crooked trunk. Eventually, I found it's "sweet spot" and added a few wedges, and have no doubt it will see some action early on being right on the corner of the field they're entering now. Right behind where I took this picture from is a deep ravine that channels scent from across the corn field. I'll snap some better pics of that next time I'm there. Deer approach it from the paralell ridge and never have a clue I'm there. It really is my expected kill spot for early archery season on an afternoon hunt, but I'm really hoping for something special this year so you guys will have to put up with a lot of pics of my skippers in the mean time from all my stands and blinds! That might not be such a bad thing though...
  18. Nice- I'll bet that ol' boy hangs up right around 75 yds!
  19. Knocked 2 more set ups off the list this week for a total of 4 complete. Only 3 more stands to go... should have them done this weekend.
  20. My longest bow kill was the first deer I ever shot with the stick and string. A doe at 44yds. On the flip side, I recall a year I missed a nice little 6pt at 7 yds totally broadside and unaware of my presence from the ground. Found my arrow buried in a nice maple sapling between us,lol I guess that puts my effective range somewhere between 7+ and 44yds.
  21. Coons can be pretty bold and curious especially if there's food around. I've seen a few that were obviously terribly sick, but that one looks like he still has his senses about him. The only thing that doesn't look right is he's not splattered on a street with 4 other members of his family, lol
  22. Keep an eye on those guys Eddie... they got sticky fingers!
  23. Yeah they look the same blinds. Mine is an Ameristep but I don't know what model. I'll definitely work on that in the post season. As a matter of fact, I have a bunch of fiberglass tent supports I've been saving for no reason in particular since the tent got trashed. I added them to my dome blind yesterday to raise the roof a bit, so those should work just as well.
  24. I wonder what my neighbor would say if he walked into his woods and seen something like THAT! ".... but, you told me it was ok to put a stand on your property" lol
