47 Plane Crashes with Doves in NY
wooly replied to mike rossi's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I hate to say it, but I think you're really exaggerating a simple stat to fit your end goal. That's a bit of a turn off to anyone who knows better, and may actually be hurting your cause more than you think. In a way, it almost makes me feel like your insulting my intelligence, but I don't take this stuff personally. This is almost like saying there were 5,000,000,000 mosquitoes, moths, and house flies killed on NY highways so far in the summer of 2015..... none of which resulted in any casualties to the drivers behind the wheel. You've run a pretty solid fact based dove hunting campaign to this point, I don't know why you would get goofy like this now.- 11 replies

I haven't read a "wrong" reply to this thread yet. I am however skeptical when I hear someone say bucks are "chasing" in their area. Honestly...., I think there's a lot of hunters who have no idea what the chasing phase really is.

Don't do anything stupid. One time me and the Mrs. went to the doctor together and he looked at me and said "yep, you're definitely pregnant" Turned out I wasn't pregnant after all..... my WIFE was! Id get a second opinion if I was you,lol

What is next to the small buck's right eye ?

That's a bullseye! -
It really is as simple as that. If it sucks, just spit it out.

They look good to me. I wouldn't think twice about grabbing one of those for a snack. As far as I know, all apples are edible, but the taste of some varieties is preferred over others.

Now I want you to go out and take a pic of your bumper!

What a beauty..... I wish somebody would run something over that big by me. I know I'll never kill anything like that myself, lol

Got any real time pics of the rack on the wall for us to gawk over? B+W pics suck when it comes o this stuff.

VIDEO: German Kinetics Fixed Broadheads at 100 Yards!
wooly replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in CrossBow Hunting
I have to admit, this is kind of what I was expecting from you! Great job again with the vid and the shooting! Do you think they have enough KE at that range to kill the spider or duck in the intro, lol -

I appreciate the feedback. Maybe a full evaluation/review after you dump a few thousand shots in her is in order. X-bow targets seem to be one of those things that no one can seem to get a handle on ESPECIALLY with broadheads. There's still plenty I don't know about these things, so your reviews are always something I look forward to. Thanks for posting your findings here. -

This may be a touchy question with so few shots into it so far.... What's your overall opinion on that Big Shot Transformer with the high density panels? Do you think it will hold up to the summer punishment you have in store for it? -

Nice- there's really no need for me to see this extended beyond 50 yds, but knock yourself out if you wish. I'm sure you'll accurately share the results either way, and it's appreciated. (even if for only entertainment at this point IMO) Looks like it's going to be another great season full of quick and predictable kills for you with your new rig and accessories! -
I know what your saying, but I guess I think of x-bow hunting the same as conventional bow or ML so the first shot is THE most important. Rapid fire is not an option with any of these weapons as they each take some time to re-load and re-acquire your target. A clean miss will likely offer no follow up in MOST situations. If I screw up the first one to miss clean, I'll take all the blame and the animal will likely live to see another day no matter what the reaction after the shot.(with a non repeating weapon) In the event of a wounded animal, give them time to run off and rely on your trailing skills once you get on the ground to reload and follow up. A marginally hit animal from the stand ain't going to stick around for a follow up. A spined animal isn't going far so there's no hurry other than what's in our minds. As much as it feels like forever before you climb down to reload, it's probably the wisest choice you could make for your own safety instead of attempting to re-cock in a stand.

I use whatever I can get my hands on (whatever's on sale). I've had lots of bucks of all shapes and sizes follow a drag line, but I think timing is more important than what you're dragging. I get a little more excited when I drain the bladder from a fresh kill though around that first week of November. I always rub my hunting clothes all over the first (and next) deer I kill. By the end of season my clothing absolutely wreaks of deer but deer don't seem to mind that much. Caught this little guy last fall following a drag of Wildlife Research "Golden Scrape" I had pulled behind me on my way in. He came in textbook nose to the ground totally oblivious to anything around him. Just wish he had been a little bigger!

Sorry Gunworks, 2 bottles is all I had in stock and they are both spoken for already. You missed it by 12 hours.

Joe and shawnhu- shoot me your mailing info and I'll get it sent out to you guys.

Wow- I really don't know..., but I don't think it would show up on paper or in a field photo. How in the world did that one slip past QC?

I got two un-open bottles of deer pizz I'd like to give away FREE to anyone interested in experimenting with it. It's been refrigerated for the last 6 months, so it can't be worse than anything on the store shelves right now.... or it could be, I haven't taken a whiff of it yet. I'd prefer it to go to a newbie hunter looking to experiment with scents in front of a trail cam, opposed to one of you guys that already know what to expect. First two curious newbs to reply get a bottle each, shipped on me. The air was squeezed out of the Tingleys by the distributer. That's why it looks so warped.

Looks like a Waved sphinx moth caterpillar...

Those stickers between points in the growing stage tend to grow where they're at even throughout summer development once they become visable. They don't "ride" up the beam as some are implying they do here. This would be a really good post for FSW to chime in on when it comes to daily observations of antler development.

And if you....., or the OP don't like my reply feel free to ignore it. I can't help it you like to rub each others bootys this way.
