  3. It might be wrong, but this is what is happening in NYS...especially southern NYS. City dwellers are moving into northern Westchester/ putnam and Dutchess. native born residences are being pushed out. A house (shack) down here cost at least 400K. taxes are $15K per year. Only city workers, public sector union employees and recent city transplants can afford to live here. Down here the gun owner is considered to be the nut job /criminal, not the cop and town superviser who ordered the signs removal. again BOHICA
  4. this happened in The Peoples Republic of Westcheter...The cop is going to be promoted, the town supervior who ordered it's removal re-elected. the comrades are rejoicing down here! BOHICA
  5. That is what the town is saying. I live 5 miles from this guy. There are all kinds of signs. Obama signs, election signs, business signs, tag sale signs, ect throughout this town. This was selective enforcement based on the content of the sign....in otherwords...LEFT WING FACISISM " a political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition"
  6. it was removed in Westchester county. Home to many left wing nut jobs. Many in the community complained about the sign. The town is claiming the sign was placed in a town right away (road easement). Regardless, the video's on-line clearly show the cop kicking and damaging the signs. 4 were taken. the town claims the cop took 2. I guess they don't want to admit they damaged the other two. But I think the cop cars have GPS tracking, so I think the guy could file a foil request to see if any cop cars were parked at his house when all four signs were taken. Lastly, in Westchester and most of Southern NY, the guy (gun owner) putting out the sign is considered the problem. NYS is lost to our kind. the world has been turned upside down. vote with your feet move if you can. it's going to get worse here..BOHICA
  7. he might also just be a nice guy who doesn't care or understand why its big deal who hunts his land. He might be an old timer that will let anyone that ask and is respectful hunt his land. maybe, he doesn't want to feel obilagated to only let you hunt it. I'm sure folks in town know him and maybe he wants to remain friends with others besides you
  8. I’ve had a number of farms in in Putnam and Duchess counties that I used to hunt get leased to clubs / individuals. Hence, I’m locked out. I can’t blame the farmer. Farming is a business. The farmer needs to pay his taxes (in this part of the state $30K+ for 200 ac) , feed / dress his kids and in general make a living. I also don’t blame the club or rich hunter…. it’s called capitalism. The farmer has a product (in this case land) and the highest bidder got access to it. But the above said, getting access to land in southern NY is getting harder and harder each year. But there is always the pumpkin patch (state land)
  9. DISAGREE. learn how to hunt, spend time in the woods, move locations often and you'll get a large buck. I've gotten many on public land. No need to restrict others (young, old, disabled, meat hunters) from hunting just so you can brag about what a good woodmen you are by showing off a deer head on the wall. if you really want a big deer to brag about go on a paid high fence hunt and then lie to your friends about how you tracked it during a blizzard, fought a couger and pack of coyotes while dragging it out
  10. Eeyore from winny the pooh, although his tail seems to have surprisingly remained attached
  11. this made my day...thanks for posting it!!!!!!!!! Glad to finally see that comedians are finally poking fun of One Big Ass Mistake America. And that they realize that a large percentage of those that voted him in our uninformed dolts that just voted for the hip guy
  12. years ago (20+) while I was still hunting a thick swamp I step over a log and stepped over a bedded deer. Scare the hell out of the deer and me. didn't get a shot. it was a small fawn. I did the same thing a few years ago in the dark walking to my stand, but his time I stepped on a sleeping coyote. my 250lbs crushed the poor little thing. It was howling and whining in the dark for about 10 minutes. Never saw it in the day light.
  13. without a doubt, I would take this buck good luck...hope you see him during the season
  14. GOT EM IN THE FIRST SHOT!!!!!!...well maybe second
  15. Did you not read my prior posts? Posted Yesterday, 10:09 AM Posted Yesterday, 03:31 PM You reinforced what I said. In NYS state, county and local employees (not just teachers) are rewarded very well. This is why we have high taxes...NO OTHER REASONS. We COLLECTIVELY voted for this, we voted in reps that sold out to the public sector unions. If you are like me and don’t like the high take rates, vote with your feet and leave. The people of NY voted for high taxes
  16. HUFFINGTON POST? isn't that the the left wing nut jobs Arianna Huffington site? any source s that are not bias?
  17. It sucks no matter what you pay or where you live. Taxes in this state are out of control. I know many families raising kids in the south. The education isn’t that bad down there. The difference between NYS and southern states is that in NYS, state, county and local employees are paid very well. Get great benefits and generous pensions. But this is what the residents of this state want. They voted for this by electing officials that sold out to public sector unions This state is F’d. just remember every September BOHICA
  18. Doc, NYS gun laws will never be overturned in the legislator, maybe in the court, but never by elected officials. Upstate NY is losing population ever year. Upstate NY‘s young are moving to states that provide better opportunities. Our kind (sportsmen) are moving to the south and west. NYC and its suburbs continue to grow each year with South American immigrant and anti’s (hunting / gun) from across the nation. Upstate NY will never again have the population needed to counter downstate NY’s voting power. It’s just a matter of time before more strict gun and hunting laws get passed in this state. I don’t think a revolution is needed or will happen, but people vote with their feet. Hunting and gun ownership will always be accepted in the south, west and Alaska. But like minded anti’s are migrating (or staying) in NY, while like-minded hunters and gun owners keep leaving NY. Elections have consequences, sportman will never again have a majority in this state. Although NY is a beautiful place with abundant natural resources, it is lost to us. All we can do is to endeavor to persevere
  19. WOW...$1429.04...thats a monthly tax bill down here. 2000sq ft house on 1/2 acre is about $15000 a year in total school and local taxes. I own a few rental houses (nothing nice...starter homes) and I think my cheapest total tax in $10,000 per year Unfortunately, NYS is a lost cause. Taxes in this state are insane. The politicians (Republicans and Democrats) are all the same, they sold out to public sector unions. Union employees work 15 or 20 years and collect pensions that their neighbors have to pay. I don’t blame the union workers, I would take the $ if I could. But it’s not right that a cop, firefighter, teacher, garbage collector retires at 40 years old and collects $75,000+ for the rest if his / her life. Someone needs to pay the bill! Vote with your feet, leave if you can! If and when the market recovers I'll be selling everything I own in this state. I might buy vacant land upstate to hunt on. but I can nolonger stomach paying the amount this state wants from me. I earned it...I worked 100+ hours a week for it...they just take and take and take
  20. I agree, I would like to find the actual DC law..I looked couldn't find it. I did find a lot pages about people being charged referring to it being for ammo, but did find the actual law. fyi Republicans and Dem's politicians suck equally! they are cut from the same cloth. good people can belong to either party, but once elected something happens to. I started this thread to gain other people insight and thoughts about this topic, not have others start name calling others with different opinions. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
  21. According to the State of New Hempshire, coyotes come in red...no mating with domestic dogs required. http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Wildlife/Wildlife_profiles/profile_eastern_coyote.htm Eastern Coyote (Canis latrans var.) Description Eastern coyotes typically weigh 30-50 pounds and are 48-60 inches long, approximately twice the size of their close relative, the western coyote. Eastern coyotes have long legs, thick fur, a pointy snout, a drooping bushy black-tipped tail and range in color from a silvery gray to a grizzled, brownish red. The average life span of a wild coyote is four years. Though coyotes are often mistaken for a domestic dog hybrid, recent genetic research has attributed the eastern coyote's larger size and unique behavioral characteristics to interbreeding with Canadian gray wolves. Unlike the wolf or domestic dog, coyotes run with their tail pointing down

    big buck?

You’re from Westchester right? Lots of good bucks on state and city land near us. The tricks I've learned are: (a) Hunt multiple pieces of land...some time I still hunt 4 or more pieces a day (b ) Get way back in the woods. Find the nastiest cover you can....the pumpkins will move the deer to you © If sitting in a tree on public land, go in a mile or more from teh road. Get to your tree 1 to 2 hours before daylight. Let the woods settle and again the march of the pumpkins will push the deer to you (d) Most important, get out as often as you can. Whether it’s for 45 minutes after work, during a torrential down pour or blizzard get into the woods. Sorry to be preachy, but we live in some of the best deer areas of the state…just way too many pumpkins in the woods

    big buck?

There all big when you get to be 50 yrs old and need to drag the damm thing 1.5 miles up hill to the truck! But seriously, it a personal choice. Some guys don’t get out that much, have limited access to good land, just want to eat some venison. Whatever you or he gets you should be happy with.
  25. I killed a red coyote in Duchess about 10 years ago. Gave it to my brother...it's a beautiful mount. I should have kept it for myself
