LIVE From The Woods 2019 - Lets hear stories and see some pictures!

Dude seriously google gunsmiths in westchester. Quite a few came up. Some find it easier to find excuses than a solution. -

No doubt. I am confident that our preseason property work helped with 2 of those. -

Killed 6 3yr old bucks on the same 30acre parcel this season. Surrounding lands make a huge difference. -

Both parcels I have are bordered by no hunting sanctuaries at least partially so I do think it would be worthwhile. It may be a few years of eating tags but worth it to have better shots at older class deer. As you said, the jump from 3 to 4 can be dramatic. -

I learn the same lesson every time I engage Stormy. Hopefully it sticks this time. -

Lol. Uhhh no. It’s obvious you know better than the rest here. Stick with the taped on sight. -

OK then I would lug around a few more pounds until that is fixed. As I recall you said you were a big guy, I doubt you will even notice a few more lbs on a gun. But its all your call. I just know I would hate to have an equipment failure at the moment of truth and obviously a taped on sight is almost inviting that issue. -

Ditch that sucker. for $200 you can have a reliable single shot and another $100 for optics. Why waste all that time hunting only to have an equipment issue when an opportunity finally comes along. -

You taped a sight on? Why not just shim your current sight? If that is not possible, I would definitely have it professionally repaired. -

I put my gun buck in a waterproof body bag. Zip it up. Has handles to load even solo. Not a spec of blood in Jeep.

That was crazy. Hard to believe until Jason showed me

Setting up tree stand near bedding area now?
moog5050 replied to Whereareyoubuck's topic in Deer Hunting
Hunting with a gun? Bring a stool and sit somewhere with some cover. Otherwise it depends how quietly and efficiently you can set stand. -
That looks really good NYbowhunter. I may just try it this year. I think the kiddos would go bonkers for it.

Most hunting knives are at or near 40 degrees. But it only takes a sharpie to figure it out with a few swipes for any knife if you don't know factory bevel. never used electric but I assume you still need to know the factory grind.

I was trying to figure out how 3rd sat moved from Nov. 16 to Nov. 21. I would have thought it was Nov. 15 next year but saw the same as you Rob. Is 2020 a leap year? Normally the days only move by one each year I think. Like Tacks, I like late gun too unless I am already tagged out in bow. lol.
-
use the 30 degree for benchmade not 40. works great. I own a handful of benchmades. Love em. You can also return to benchmade for a free sharpening but the factory grind is right at or near 30.

I don't think anyone will be able to say for certain. I will say I never believed that you could shoot under spine and not hit vitals (no mans land) until I saw an arrow wound on a deer carcass at WNY Bowhunters on Sunday. Arrow wound clearly looked fatal as it was below spine where it should hit lungs. Buck lived until it was shot in gun by same hunter.

scouting based on topography, cover and transitions areas, and if you have trail cams out, putting together the pieces of the puzzle based on buck movement check out hunting beast. lots of discussion regarding identifying beds and likely locations for buck bedding. -

while I think rutting activity has slowed, I still would sit downwind of doe bedding in the morning. I would focus on food source afternoons (last 30min). Of course if you know specific buck beds, that would be more ideal for PM hunt. -
I love when you just have to touch the deer hide to open it up. No pressure needed!

Heck yeah. I would be interested. Love to add one to the rotation. I am also seriously considering trying to pass 3yr olds starting next year and see what happens. -
Happy BDay!

Grunt and snort wheezed as last resort. I don’t usually use a bleat can. Never found them effective.
