  1. Imagine the issues associated with trying to ban people from planting clover or turnips or wheat. Lol. Having not seen a bear over an entire week of hunting over bait, I can confirm it’s no guarantee.
  2. There was a case several years ago downstate I think that held that feeding deer is not unlawful. Baiting to hunt is a different question. Probably why the Econ officers responded as they did.
  3. Yep lots of apples this year!
  4. You would like Dan Infalt. Very knowledgeable accessible friendly and willing to help. And kills big bucks on public.
  5. Makes it a lot easier if you don’t carry cards much like me.
  6. Done but Treeguy owes me a refund if he doesn’t land the ladies some quality fish!
  7. no idea - I would not cash in for 70 now but the Lord will take me he chooses.
  8. Nice buck. At least 3yrs old and wait until he swells up for the rut.
  9. The right bench on leeward side is a gold mine! Saddles too but tougher with swirling winds often.
  10. Quote from Berry Wensel: But, he said, deer — and wise old bucks in particular — use those roads only after dark. Otherwise, they travel on a parallel track, but one that’s on the downwind side of that ridge. They can not only smell anything below them, thanks to rising thermals, but also smell anything uphill thanks to the direction of the prevailing wind, he said. And they can do it without skylining themselves. i taught Berry that. Lol. Ok he knew it before I was born.
  11. 1/3 from top on leeward - mix of wind over the top and thermals. Can scent both ways. Makes it a preferred area for both bedding and travel.
  12. I would be looking at the predominantly leeward side at 1700’ or 1/3 from top. Walk that line. Often it’s the Preferred travel line.
  13. Been seeing a Dr to help with his fear of heights and children. Seems the doc is doing a great job!
  14. What? Don’t join the cheaters! I thought you had standards. Peer pressure getting to you?
  15. Congrats Biz and Mrs Biz and Baby Biz!
  16. So apparently the guides all have exclusive rights to use one island from 11-3pm each day for the lunch. Our guide and another cooked together on a wood burning outdoor stove. I think the lunch is the same for all guides. Fresh salad, fresh BLTs, they fry the fish you catch and some salt potatoes and then french toast for dessert. It was all very good and eating in it outdoors on the island was icing on the cake. Kinda pricey to catch bass but still fun.
  17. I have to agree. Even though we stayed in Alex Bay, we liked Clayton better and spent most of day 2 there. We had fun but the food in the islands was not great (except the lobster rolls at Bella’s in Clayton) and the offshore lunch cooked by our fishing Capt. 3 1/2 days was plenty for us there. Watertown does have my favorite burger place “Skewed” so we did stop by there too for the messy Presley- a burger with peanut butter, banana jam and bacon and a side of poutine. That was one of the highlights besides fishing and boldt.
  18. Holding out for Treeguy to guide me for Muskie
  19. Oh and fishing was pretty good. Joel caught the lunker of the day at 5lbs. Offshore lunch was really good. My wife landed the smallest and only non-smallmouth.
  20. Really is beautiful. Promised my wife I would build her one just like it. Lol
  21. Still working on upper floors. Stained glass dome is complete. First two floors looked complete but wow what a difference from when I was here last in the 80s
  22. I like the window layout of our redneck 360 soft sided blind. Lots of options. It’s essentially same size you mentioned but octagonal shape. Corners have the long windows.
  23. Capt we have for tomorrow is highly recommended. Hopefully he puts us in the fish.
  24. What a tremendous job they have done restoring this place. Absolutely beautiful. Haven’t been there since I was a kid and the restoration all took place in the last 20yrs. Worth a visit if you haven’t been in a while. Tomorrow we hit the water in search of pike and bass.
  25. Took the safety course in 1984 so I could captain our boat at 14yrs old. No idea how I could prove that now. Lol
