  1. It is. Cut out shooting other bows as season approaches.
  2. Grampy nailed it. Bedding to food and vice versa on major trails. Then hunt the minor trails upwind of that bedding for your pope and young come late Oct. lol
  3. 1st crusty eyed shot with BH. Not perfect but it will hunt.
  4. My daughter asked if she will taste the same. Very sentimental. Lol
  5. Honestly more excited about piebald and not sure I even want to shoot her.
  6. Finally threw one cheap cam up on Tuesday on the plot. Tons of activity with a piebald and her fawns being the most regular - several times daily like it’s their refrigerator. Lol. Few bucks but nothing major yet.
  7. You know Jerkman, in your pic you strongly resemble an older powerfully built man on this forum. Any relation?
  8. Our seasons are too long already Biz! But I enjoy them so I won't argue - so long as there are no crossbows or compounds as that is cheating - like blinds and treestands.
  9. I am changing my position yet again - no crossbows or compounds except weeks 2 and 3 of Oct. Writing my congressman and DEC now. Both are too easy and will result in others shooting my buck. Just think of all of the booners that will be running the woods for those that want to hunt JUST LIKE ME. Hope the atlatl crowd don't catch on to my scheme or I am screwed.
  10. At your DL, I suspect you will want a longer and lighter bow. Bob's bow at low 40lbs slings an arrow like a 60lber due to his huge DL.
  11. Consistency (anchor among other things) with a trad bow is always critical. A change of finger pressure can change the shot dramatically. Most people that shoot trad come to realize that aiming is not the hardest part for accuracy.
  12. I typically used 2 blade with the recurve in the past but used a 3 blade VPA last season and the doe went down 20yds from stand so it was a pretty good first result. lol Not sure about blood trail because I didn't need to track. The 2 blade blood trails are OK but nothing like was I was accustomed too with the mechanicals from the compound.
  13. Looks much better than the original finish on those limbs and trust in those heads. They will do a number on your deer for sure! I am still trying to decide whether to use the 2 or 3 blade 300g this year. Probably go with 3 blade.
  14. I really couldn't find any close by and its too expensive to ship due to weight. Good luck. If the local feed store has it, I would grab that.
  15. I will guess 3 or a really nice 2. But I like Tacks estimate better.
  16. Enclosed trailer would be nice so not to worry about the ATV while in the stand. I might add that to list of wants. Lol
  17. I just drove home for lunch and was paying attention to roominess. I probably did get used to the space as I lean a bit to the right with elbow on center box and left arm on window ledge. But it works fine for me. Not uncomfortable but not as roomy as the raptor.
  18. Safer, normal conversation, more room. I drive it topless to places/events I wouldn’t consider on a bike. Bike plus plus. And still very good in winter.
  19. In that case, I would agree that a wrangler doesn't make much sense. And I never opened sunroofs either. But the open air experience of a jeep is a cross between a motorcycle and convertible. Scratches both of those itches for me.
  20. 6'5" would be tight. I don't have a ton of headroom (maybe 3" or so) at 6'1" unless top is off. lol
  21. Very cool rattler - the mere fact that you still have a gun from when you were 17 is neat, let alone such a rare one for deer hunting. How accurate is it at 100yds?
  22. Not sure how big Stormy is but at 6'1" and 340lbs, I have no problem with the room in the jeep. They certainly don't ride like a luxury car, but I also don't find them to ride any different than the typical pick up. That said, I have the recon which has a different suspension (springs and shocks) than the typical sports or saharas. For me, and maybe the soccer moms, the idea of a SUV as a daily driver and sized for use with kids where the top and doors can be dropped was mighty appealing and I will bet that over the summer I drove it topless as much as with the top. Doesn't hurt that its reasonably capable offroad. But if I was one that didn't drop the top regularly, a PU is probably more practical. Or if I needed room for 7, a bigger SUV is the way to go. Or if I wanted a dead silent vehicle that rides like its on a cloud, a luxury sedan would do. Or if I wanted a fast vehicle that handled on rails, a sports sedan or sports car is the ticket. To each his own and personal preferences/needs rule the day. Holding great resale value is nice too, but I really don't buy vehicles based on that.
  23. If you like the NY thin style, Pizza Stop on State Street is excellent. Order the grandmas style!
