  1. Treeguy, Bionic and Biz you are rule breakers but nice try guys. Jeremy and I can attest to true difficulty here. I had to snap about 1900 photos to find that buck. Lol. I will clarify contest rules: Rules for the selfie challenge: 1. Your face and head of A LIVE deer must be in photo; 2. Doe gets 3pts, small buck 5pts; big buck 8pts; 3. Ends at close of ML; 4. For Biz (who is scared of heights), bonus point for ground selfies that meet above criteria. Score: Moog 5, Jeremy 3, rest of forum a big fat 0! winner gets a night in the big city on Bizs expense account!
  2. That’s standard advice but he Better have a large property with that little penetration. If he only got 5” blood it’s likely only 3” penetration. Doubt pushing will do much other than see her go. I would be hoping to catch some lung and let her fill up while bedded. Would not be first time I was wrong. I really hope you find her mike. Don’t mean to sound critical.
  3. You shot her less than an hour ago and are pushing her. Doesn’t look like much penetration. Not sure you are doing yourself any favors.
  4. See you in a few years. Pretty sure this is my first selfie with a buck in it. Lol
  5. You probably make a great point. I have never hung and cut off the dried crust, but it may be easier. Never thought about it. Might give that a try. I do have an extra fridge.
  6. Won't speak for Phade, but we tend to hunt whenever possible, but will likely sit longer (full days) on those great days and perhaps target stands/properties that we expect greater success (ie know there are good bucks around). I may get out this afternoon but, being tagged out, will avoid the areas we know there are big bucks so as to not stink things up. A nice doe elsewhere will do. I expect Phade to be in a stand all next week - whatever the weather is.
  7. The last time I doubled up in a day, I left one on my garage floor for the night while the other hung. It was fine. Not sure I would "age a deer" without hanging but in cold temps over one night it didn't matter. And I love my electric winch. I now sit while processing my deer. and move whatever part I am working on to my level.
  8. 9 moa would be a bit large for a rifle. maybe they sell them smaller with the fiber optic.
  9. Someone posted it here too. Not a bad buck. Ha.
  10. Mine are so heavy I can’t see them blowing over. Already withstood 70mph winds with no damage. One has L brackets screwed to feet with rebar driven in. But the angled out feet make them very secure. Using escalator brackets is key. I didn’t secure the second and it did fine in the same storm.
  11. Not overly sensitive to different foods but lungs sounds pretty darn disgusting.
  12. You should see some of the stands that were set on the property I bought. Scared me just looking up at them. lol We usually use 14' ladder stands.
  13. Entrance looks great if its not a steep shot. You may have hit nearside lung and not far. I like Nomad's suggestion to aim for exit. I also don't hunt 30' up because it does shrink the kill zone.
  14. I have always butchered same day if possible or next. Never had tough or bad tasting venison.
