    Scale

Why not put the scale between the hoist and gambrel. On the digital, I can 0 it out but even with a spring we are only talking a pound or so. I leave it there for the season.

    Scale

Cool scale law. I use the same digital scale that I use when tuning bows. Goes up to 300lbs and seems to be pretty accurate when tested with my plates for weight lifting. Waiting for the buck that maxes it out. Lol.

Lol. True if all your Deer weigh less than 50lbs. Plus, you are less likely to injure them on release.
  4. I was thinking Winfield and good point stubbornVT. Can’t trust that Biz!
  5. Really. Most of those birds are not what I would have called birds of prey. Those that are I thought it was illegal to kill them. Remember the whole yankee who killed a seagull thing?
  6. what birds of prey do people hunt? Curious. Crows?
  7. Is that considered fair chase Pygmy? Yes, I know, poor taste.
  8. I will confirm that stir fry is not food. I am always hungry 20 minutes after eating Chinese.
  9. WE have a creek, so you would not need to carry the water far. lol I suspect you water in a tree when first planted and cross your fingers.
  10. Splurge on 4-5 of those 7 year olds and plant them at my place. Of course, you can hunt that week too. Only seems fair.
  11. How much do you want to spend? http://www.chestnuthilltreefarm.com/store/p/26-Dunstan-Chestnut-Tree.aspx
  12. I think the one shot in TN last year by Nomad's nephew's friend was 37pt. It can happen in the wild. Just didn't on this one.
  13. I have heard both bleats and grunts in the past. This year, I don't think I heard any bleats. A few grunts.
  14. Plenty of venison in freezer. Tough year for even seeing, let alone killing a wall hanger - like Nomad said it was a good reality check. Most fun might have been having a front row seat watching grampy almost kill a nice buck from the ground. Learned I really like costanzas pepper jack hotdogs (thanks Nomad). Also was reminded to treasure the hunt more than the target. Sometimes I get blinded by big buck syndrome and forget what I really enjoy about hunting. My daughter had great patience on 2 sits and probably a better attitude than me when we saw nada! Should have hunted my property more - had some real dandies there during rut (as I learned later) and I never hunted it. Won't make that mistake for a 3rd time.
  15. It can't be shot without a primer installed. That is removed after each hunt. Never mind - John beat me to it.
  16. good point too. I really should carry the extension. Never thought about that.
  17. I guess you have to pull the breech plug and by the time you do that, it aint firing.
  18. How long did you wait before pushing the bad load out. I would be a bit hesitant with a possible hang fire.
  19. Been using the same stash for 4 years now without issue.
  20. I use 209 and have never had a hang or misfire. Its a bit of a pain to unload 209 loose powder - ends up being tossed and can make a mess. So in it stays. Again, never had an issue.
  21. Sorry to hear it TF. I leave the ML outside once I start hunting with it. Just remove/replace the primer every hunt.
