  1. Honestly, with the recurve, middle is probably smartest so when I miss by a little, I am still good. Lol.
  2. I will also mention that I killed my regular season buck with the bow last year hard quartering away. Entered about where my first shot was and exited neck. A blind man could have followed the blood trail but it was not intentional to have it exit the neck. Made more work for WNY bowhunter to mount. Lol
  3. I will take a broadside statue at 15-20yds every time. Lol. Hope the Booner cooperates with both of us!
  4. I don't practice from a stand Grow. Ground and off my deck (about 5.5' tall). Never had an issue. I think I naturally bend from the waist so it's same poi. Obviously I would aim higher for a low exit if the deer is close. Then again most of our stands are only 12-14" to platform.
  5. For the truck I have one of those real big scent lok bags. The xxl heavy duty zip locs work well too and are cheap.
  6. I will also add that I think middle provide greatest margin of error which is small to begin with on a quartering shot. You guys all chimed in before me so point was made.
  7. For the record, this was my next 8 shots. I prefer the 5 grouped back. The other 3 were less than perfect shots.
  8. So my first shot this morning was a reasonably hard quartering away shot. Not bad and the arrow hit where I intended but as I stood over the target I thought it could have been better. So I put two more shots in creeping forward each time. Which is the shot you prefer (forward, middle, back)? I realize they all kill deer.
  9. Makes sense. We have lots of the 3 mentioned.
  10. Is this goldenrod? Field of it behind my house. The deer cross there regularly but very tough to see. Just the occasional heads bobbing as they move.
  11. It's seems you may know his bedding area. NICE!
  12. One shot 22yds. Now it may look like I just missed the piece of tape but if you look closer you will see 3 legs of the fly that I shot out of the air. In all seriousness, I am pleased with this back up bow
  13. Wait, did Stubby just jump on a thread in the bowhunting forum (when he doesn't bow hunt) to cricize bowhunters without any real basis. Lol. Nothing new and Stubby I can guarantee you way more gun hunters wound deer. The numbers simply won't lie. Gun hunters. like you far outnumber the bowhunters. But you and I both know that that means little to you. You just like to get under people's skin. Probably a napoleonic complex thing or perhaps you simply criticize trophy hunters and bowhunters because you have not had much success with either. Hmmmmm. Sad really.
  14. How are removing hands from pocket less movement than removing from a muff around your waist? Just curious.
  15. Yep. Separate switch. I have 3 sets of lights all on separate switches. Helps that the truck was prewired with the switches installed from factory. two sets are way to bright to use on the road.
  16. Cabelas wooltimate with goose down. The best! http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Wooltimate-trade-Goose-Down-Handwarmer/1379151.uts?productVariantId=3100726&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=03380108&rid=20&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxs2T29el1gIVCi9pCh1_Mgm8EAQYAiABEgLH0PD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  17. Solid 2 blade coc might not whistle
  18. I know I can't shoot a 1" group at 250 but that's me. But just based on the numbers, wouldn't that be .4 MOA which means not only does the gun have to be far more accurate than most manufacturers advertise, but also the ammo and, even more impressive, the shooter? Based on that googling thing, it seems that snipers shooting .3 moa at 1000yds is incredible and that's the top in the world. Could we really expect the average hunter to be only slightly worse? And yes Biz, I realize its easy for you. I mean us regular guys. Theory and actual results are two different things.
  19. Just thought it would be good to remember the OP's question as it pertains to "bowhunting". lol Ahhh Never mind, get back to arguing about rifle standards that at least I will admit to not being able to achieve.
  20. Hunting 2 states? I have been tagged out in Oct the last two years but still love early Nov. It's the most magnificent time in the woods.
  21. Well then you didn't need extra range. Lol. That is tough hunting. Bet it was your most exciting hunt.
  22. No doubt stalking the ADK could require extra range. That's tough hunting. How many ADK bucks have you killed stalking? Ithink it's a great accomplishment with gun to kill one like that. With bow it's really tough, especially with low density.
  23. Would love some snow first week of Nov!
