  1. Didn't post my experience to highlight what we do Eddie (there are lots of more active outreach programs than ours), just to explain that some, although few, addicts will accept that helping hand and it can make a difference. It's easy to become jaded but all of us have made bad choices. With heroin, one bad decision can be, as TC mentioned, game over for your future.
  2. Little easier to get on the salmon in early sept but a good captain should do it in July too and the fight is even better. Good luck!
  3. I guess milkweed could be considered homegrown. Nothing better to check wind. Floats forever.
  4. No - same anchor. Two different spines. One set are axis 260 and the other FMJ 300. Stiffer spine requires longer arrow or heavier head to tune the same as the lighter spine. In this case, it's longer as I use the same 225g head. I am anal about tuning. My arrows have the same poi whether they have fieldpoints or broadheads or are bareshafts.
  5. Great shooting with a .22 at 100yds. Wind can really move those light rounds at that distance.
  6. The question is whether the deer crush them before then. It's only 2 acres
  7. You want to laugh, I broke my front tooth last year on a chainsaw while it was off. Hit something carrying it in the woods and it kicked up and broke my tooth. I looked really cool for a few hours until my dentist fixed me up. Nice having a buddy that's a dentist. Could have been much worse though even when it's not running . Careful.
  8. My buddy just called and told be he planted a 2 acre soybean plot at one of the properties we hunt. Could be interesting. Always wanted to hunt soybeans that aren't harvested late season. NOt sure they will still be there by then though. Maybe a velvet buck. Lol. Anyways, nice surprise.
  9. It's an easy weight to hold (as you said relatively speaking 49lbs for me - not 10lbs like a compound but not bad). But I don't typically draw until I think I have a shot. That said, it's much easier to slowly let down and redraw with a recurve than a compound if needed. I have 2 sets of arrows tuned for this bow. One set is 31.5" and the other 33.5". Both shoot well and they weigh within 10g of each other. Still not certain which ones I will hunt with but leaning towards the longer Easton axis 260 with 225g heads.
  10. My indoor range/gym. Shoot bench shoot. Lol
  11. Lol. Oh you meant cams. This cheap bow didn't come with them. Haha
  12. Thanks tacks. Looks better without the grip tape but I am shooting it so well as is, that I am willing to cover up that pretty riser.
  13. Jeremy, if you mean where the string and riser meet, they are called sticktamers. Supposed to quiet the bow like a string stop but I use them as a place to hang the bow. They stop the hanger from getting stuck between the string and limb.
  14. Border Covert hunter 62" and 48lbs at 28". It's tuned and shooting as well as I have ever shot. 656g arrow at about 183fps which keeps me in the kill zone without adjusting point of aim from 0-25 and just a slightly high aim at 30yds. About perfect for a recurve. Very happy. sold the other recurves except one back up. Gonna stick shooting this through the 2017 season. Performance is unreal for such as easy drawing bow.
  15. My wife and I head up a ministry through our church where we make meals and bring them to a park on Clinton Ave where both dealers and users frequent. A small group of us buy, make the meals and hand them out twice a month from about may through November. It's a sad condition but those addicted are people who really need some compassion. We have seen some of the same people year after year. But we have also seen some success stories of those that have cleaned up and now lead a productive life. It's not often but one of our strongest supporters of this program was a man that we met in that park while he was addicted. Been clean for two years and has reunited with his family. Seeing that type of change encourages us to keep going. One life changed is worth it. For those that haven't changed, I am still happy to provide a free meal. And most of those I have talked to regret the actions that started them on this path. God and a helping hand can make a difference. Just my experience.
  16. Go get em gents. I should say ladies. They better out fish Dad. It's the rule
