  1. Do they show any pics of 3" groups at 100 yards? lol Sorry Biz, just had to.
  2. Funny, the definition of sport has been the subject of much debate: The precise definition of what separates a sport from other leisure activities varies between sources. The closest to an international agreement on a definition is provided by SportAccord, which is the association for all the largest international sports federations (including association football, athletics, cycling, tennis, equestrian sports, and more), and is therefore the de facto representative of international sport. SportAccord uses the following criteria, determining that a sport should:[1] have an element of competition be in no way harmful to any living creature not rely on equipment provided by a single supplier (excluding proprietary games such as arena football) not rely on any "luck" element specifically designed into the sport. They also recognise that sport can be primarily physical (such as rugby or athletics), primarily mind (such as chess or go), predominantly motorised (such as Formula 1 or powerboating), primarily co-ordination (such as billiard sports), or primarily animal-supported (such as equestrian sport).[1] The inclusion of mind sports within sport definitions has not been universally accepted, leading to legal challenges from governing bodies in regards to being denied funding available to sports.[12] Whilst SportAccord recognises a small number of mind sports, it is not open to admitting any further mind sports. There has been an increase in the application of the term "sport" to a wider set of non-physical challenges such as video games, also called esports, especially due to the large scale of participation and organised competition, but these are not widely recognised by mainstream sports organisations. According to Council of Europe, European Sports Charter, article 2.i, " "Sport" means all forms of physical activity which, through casual or organised participation, aim at expressing or improving physical fitness and mental well-being, forming social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels.".[13] It also noted that sport comes from the French word desport which related to any leisure activity circa 1300. Clearly SportAccord would not include hunting in the definition, but I suppose one can reject their definition even if it is the "closest to an international agreement" of the definition. I still like my definition better. Smokey no sporty.
  3. We had a 10pt on cam a few days ago still wearing his headgear.

    Yeti

Keeps coffee hot enough for those breaks mid morning. Lol
  5. Not sure why but the foam seems heavier than the woodland buck. It's weighs the same and is a smaller target.
  6. Gotta say, the boar seems sturdier than the buck. All one piece and insert size is about the same. I think it's a winner but need to shoot downward outside to confirm. http://s225.photobucket.com/user/moog5050/media/6D6480B8-C96A-437C-82FF-BE597383CBD0.jpg.html][/URL]
  7. All depends on how you hunt Biz and perhaps you are making my point.
  8. Biz, lots of activities require skills that I wouldn't consider sports. When I see LeBron dunking a basketball with a stogie in his mouth, I will have to revise MY definition of a sport. And yes, being a reformed golfer, it does take practice and skill, both of which passed me by when I no longer had 10-15 hours per week to devote to golf. I am now a 2x/year scramble hacker with the occasional brilliant shot. lol
  9. I really enjoy hunting at this point in my life but would not call it a sport. My simple rule is that if someone can smoke while engaging in the activity (I don't smoke but some do while hunting), its not a sport. Doesn't mean it doesn't require skill, but not really a sport. Kinda like bowling, golf, darts, etc. That said, I don't think anyone has adopted my definition of sport. lol
  10. I saw that movie. It was pretty good and Jeff Daniels is looking much older.
  11. No idea on the flintlock but did you settle on a longbow?
  12. Now you have me curious. How is DL? Controlled more by string but is it on spec?
  13. Odd - they should move in opposite directions. Long ata = short on brace. I would guess cables are too long but you said they measured out. How is draw weight?
  14. You don't mention which way they are out but not sure I would sweat it if it's shooting good. Specs are usually +/- 1/8" so you aren't way off.
  15. How far out of brace and ATA? I assume you are talking greater ATA and lower brace? If so, you can twist both cables a few more times in equal amounts to the bring the ATA down and Brace up. It should hold timing and you may have to twist the string up a bit. All that said, if its shooting as you like it and its not loud, maybe there is no need to chase the specs. And yes - you need to change that cord color. lol BTW - twisting up cables should provide a bit more of a valley and more let-off. You may have to play with limb stops too. Obviously, if BH is too great and ATA to short, you can go in reverse and untwist the cables a bit.
  16. The odd ball fletch was intentional. It will work with 250g BHs. The others work with 200g. I have both BH grains and changed insert weight so I have arrows for each. Yes, I am anal.
  17. Midland has the boar for 110 shipped. Not bad. Giving it a try this season.
  18. Generally just fp. I am sure I have shot a BH but it is rare. I have a beat up 18-1 that I use just to confirm BH flight. I am really looking for something closer to deer size at least. It helps when shooting without a sight to shoot a similar sized animal. Thanks TC. Probably just spring for another. Targets are consumables.
  19. Check out Dan infalts videos, especially the one on hill county based on the area you describe. Bedding points on leaword side 1/3 from top of ridge. Hunting high in mornings and low in evenings to address thermals. Also check out hunting beast. Some great discussions on strategy. Some very good hunters all more than willing to share.
  20. I am getting one. Sometimes I have to walk 2 or even 3 HUNDRED yards to a stand. It's brutal.
