  1. Historically it is a doe bedding area with a scrape where the bucks tend to come through in Nov. We expected to catch bucks cruising not bedding. Seems that the little guys like it though. There is daily doe activity there too. No improvements, nada. I did find a huge buck bed last year about 30yds away in the adjoining cattails.
  2. You over paid. lol. I think I paid less than 1.50 per.
  3. Great deer and mount Congrats!
  4. Couple hundred acres over 5 properties. None of them big.
  5. "I like big bucks and I cannot lie. You other brothers can't deny ..." - Sir Mix-A-Lot Shoot whatever you want so long as its legal. I try to be selective (meaning holding out for a 3.5 year old buck or older) but have the luxury of doing so because I see lots of deer. If I saw a few deer a season, I probably wouldn't be selective. Plenty of doe to fill the freezer. And, for what its worth, I don't consider my standard to be "mature bucks" either. A 3.5 has plenty of growing to do - maybe like an older teen in human years. 5 or 6 is mature, but I haven't seen many of those around (only 2-3 on cam on four properties in the last 4 years) so I will settle for something less than truly mature, but will be thrilled if the old man stops by the stand before I kill his younger teenage brother. So why do I hold out, because I can without any real risk of an empty freezer. And for those that shoot something younger, that's awesome! No criticisms from me. Enjoy the hunt and have fun that's what really matters. Don't let others rain on the parade. In fact, my buddy that has yet to shoot a deer will be thrilled with any deer and I will be equally thrilled for him - more so than seeing the great big buck hunter that knocks another stud down. Its all relative.
  6. Congrats Elmo. If the spikes are less than 3" you can use antlerless tag.
  7. Betcha the last hunter wished he was using them.
  8. Well you know you didn't kill a wimp!
  9. You ate it too fast. Needed to hold out another 5 min
  10. So freaking close to a Stud. Within 30yds and no shot whatsoever. Eventually got slightly downwind. Licked nose and sniffed and went right back from where he came. Oh so cruel. Fun sit today but swirling winds have made it tough. All my action, and it's been my best sit this year, was from 12:45 until now.
  11. Not sure who "he" is, but he needs to clean his boots. Lol there also appears to be a buck nearby
  12. Quiet morning. Moved to a different property and have seen lots of does and one solid buck (couldn't decide whether he was 2 or 3yr old) at 43yds since 12:45. Find the areas protected from the wind and you will see deer.
  13. This is the type of rain where tracking really concerns me. I opted out of hunting this morning for that very reason (plus I am a wimp).
  14. Somehow, I think this series may make it on to the pursuit outdoors website.
  15. Not really Grampy. Looks like an up and comer 2yr. Not saying I wouldn't shoot him on last day of bow, but not today. Goal is 3yr plus, but do have a sliding scale come end of season. lol We also have yet to take a buck on this property despite having a few whoppers there over the past 3 years. Right place right time.
  16. Moving on I guess or just has an itch
  17. We had him visit there before but never bed down before the camera. Perhaps he is a bit of a ham.
  18. I think we found it. Lol
  19. No but I received an irate call from the NYS Attorney General once related to one of my clients while I was dragging a buck out. lol I try to disconnect from work while hunting but not always possible.
  20. Was going to play hooky and hunt but with this rain, off to the office I go.
