  1. Hmmm. I thought I could hear the grunts and snort wheezing from my living room.
  2. I wouldn't. I believe that during daylight hours, any legal implement for deer can be used and until crossbow opens, you run the risk of DEC claiming you were hunting deer with an illegal implement. Now if you are night hunting with a crossbow, maybe that would work from a DEC perspective - not so much for success though. lol I did not research this answer but it makes logical sense to me anyways.
  3. What’s the point. No reason to think it won’t shoot same as last season. I admire your dedication though.
  4. Hopefully you will put your hands on him. Lol
  5. I love my can am 1000. It’s an animal. No issues with it 3 years in. Not sure if that’s in price range in the 400-500cc.
  6. Wow great shape for its age. Not a lot of rough riding there.
  7. Best tip I have heard for anyone to achieve back tension and feel it. Push the elbow back don’t pull the string.
  8. That’s a really good explanation. Better than most I have seen or read.
  9. Meh - nothing to brag about. 21yds.
  10. Going to shoot one arrow with recurve and one with compound now. Been about a week so we shall see.
  11. Sorry, I had to add this story just to say - you never know. Several years ago I went out midday with Natalie and there was snow on the ground. After she got bored in the blind, we went to look for deer - no luck. Then she wanted to build a snow fort in the field, which we did. AS she and I are laying in the "snow fort" she says here they come. Sure enough, a group of doe passed through the woods on the edge of the field 100 yds away. I was shocked and shot one. Then we tracked her together in the snow. So you really never know - keep it fun to keep them out there. AND IF ITS GUN SEASON< BE SURE HE HAS MUFFS.
  12. One other thing I found surprising was that my daughter liked creeping into the woods to the blind in the dark in the morning. I thought it would be scary to her but she had fun with that too.
  13. sadly TV was removed 2 seasons ago. I am personally too lazy to put that stuff up. It was my former hunting partner that did that. lol
  14. One other thing I would add, if you have the chance to kill a deer, do it. Even if its not what you may normally shoot. Lucky for me doe are abundant so it wasn't hard to kill one with my daughter with me. She really enjoyed it. Last year, I suggested passing on a group of 3 doe (didn't feel like butchering) and my daughter told me "we are here to hunt, kill the biggest one." I then let her track it even though I saw it fall from the blind.
  15. Sounds like you have it covered. Electronic games also help kill time when its slow but you may not want to encourage that. Keep it fun. When they are done, don't force it and if they want to walk around to find deer, do it even if it kills your hunt.

My favorite view from my property. Who says swamps are ugly. And a doe that liked the view for a few minutes too. Lol
  17. Pretty sure that first one was the demise of Napoleon. Big bucks!
  18. Never hunted them during deer season. I assume they tend to be more responsive since they haven't heard calls in a while? Good luck to you both.
  19. At my property. Neighbor (actually 2 neighbors) saw both. They seem to both be expanding their ranges. Maybe one day a bear will stick around for the season. Pretty neat. Finally set some cams today. Wish they were out when the bear was around. He said there are 4-5 fishers and they are still around.
  20. My Deepest condolences. You will be in my prayers.
  21. They live in IA and came to CNY. Too funny.
  22. I like that the small buck in the NY episode is a PY 8. Where in NY was that filmed?
