  1. I use to have a corrola and I would just throw a old blanket down and a tarp in the trunk.
  2. If you watch the video at 3:01 while the pigs down it pi$$es it self. I guess air rifles scare the pi$$ out of pigs!!
  3. Lets stick with attay boys and congrats start another thread to talk about hunting tactics I really enjoyed this first time story. I could feel his excitement through his words and remember feeling that way about my own experiences over the years. Congrats and thank you
  4. I wasn't sure about the muzzleloading thing so I got a cheap drop breach traditions MZ from the sportsmans guide. I was supprised how well it shot. Hopefully will whack something with it this week.
  5. I have the opposite problem I have to butt recoil pads on of my guns because of my long monkey arms. You want the best possbile fit. If your guns big on you now once you throw your winter cloths it will be way to big
  6. I'll be out, first year I still had a tag left to fill
  7. These arguments are getting taken to an extreame now. Maybe in Arizona but here most high fenced hunts are 400 acres or less and segemented into different sections. In my googling the largest fenced hunting area I found in the NE was about a 1000 acres and some with hunting areas as small as football fields. Clearly a 30,000 acre high fenced area is a lot different but I would guess most high fenced hunts especially around here are much smaller. I don't just don't see the point of high fenced hunting. I know someone that has a high fenced section of his farm that the deer are used for research and I enjoy watching them and picking up their sheds but these deer are practically pets. I find it amusing when all the guys that hunt up there have their regular deer hanging and theres monster bucks looking at them on the otherside of the fence.
  8. If the scope is attached to the barrel but has movement from the frame side to side etc.. the scope would still be moving with the barrel and not causing problems with accuracy no? Maybe Slightly with seating the casing tightly in the chamber but not enough to make an incredible difference I would guess, but that wouldn't be relevant with a muzzleloader.
  9. I got my first muzzleloader a few years ago just to see what the hype was and I couldn't believe how accurate it is. 1" 3 shot groups at a 100 yards. Never shot it any further. Mine is a cheap traditions from sportsmanguide with a 4 power scope that came with it. This will be the first year actually hunting with it though
  10. I don't they think it would hurt anything short term but I wouldn't do it.
  11. First off you asked who Larry was in a previous post! Second try rereading my posts again because you getting things mixed up My freind was judging me not theother way around. I have been mentoring him and showing him what hunting around here is actually like. Finally where do you see me bad mouthing the QDMA? Because I said Larry is a spokesperson for them? For your information I'm a member of the QDMA. I didn't bad mouth them. Try comprehending what your reading before you fly off. your supposed to be a moderator!!!
  12. The best gun for you is the one that fits you best, I always have to add rubber recoild pads to get the extra lenght that I need because it seems most guns are designed for shooters in the 5'9" range and I'm measuring in around 6'4" My neighbor is a smaller fellow so he got a Rossi youth model 20 gauge slug gun and he has nothing but success with it.
  13. I hunt NY and PA and they both are unique in their own way. I like the antler restrictions in PA because they helped me become a better hunter as far as slowing down, looking exactly what I'm shooting at because prior to antler restrictions I was less likely to pass a good shot on a small deer. After a few years of antler restrictions you are seeing some bigger deer but I still find mcuh larger bucks in NY. The hunting pressure where I hunt in PA is huge. There was always Antler restrictions in PA as far as the horn had to be at least 3 inchs and doe and buck season did run concurrent so you didn't have the brown its down mentality that I see here in NY with some hunters.
  14. Good Luck with big-bore air gun thing. I'm not intrested in it but I don't see why they shouldn't be legal. Question, what would be a good pellet gun for squirrels 50 yards or less, low maintance and not loud. I borrowed a friends that was louder than my .22.
  15. I guess they were trying to bilk him for more money, like I said in the first post really have no idea and it doesn't apply to me but putting out there for someone like you that actually is current on this stuff to answer.
  16. These large caliber rounds don't expand? Their that slow? I was looking at images of pigs hit with them that made massive exit holes that said 45 caliber airgun but like I said before I've never even seen one of these in person. You are not getting an arrow from a bow going 300 yards unless you shoot it pretty much straight up in the air. Shooting a bow aiming at taget 3 feet high at 20 yards a arrow would hit the ground around 60-70 yards varying on bow speed and a lot of bow hunting is done from tree stands anyway so you would be shooting in a downward angle anyway. I'm guessing that air rifle shooting at target 3 feet high at 20 yards the bullet would go a lot further before crashing back to earth. I see them being safer than a reg rifle but the bow thing seems to be quiet a strech. I'm assuming people are going to violenty oppose this because of the lack of power requiring you to make a good shot but I think reagardless of weapon a good shot is the only shot to take. A lot of people on this site seem to feel like anything less than a cannon is under powered for deer.
  17. I asked the guy I heard that from his response was that when he took the hunter safety course last year at TNT in L.I. they issued the licenses after the class but if you choose to stay for an extra 4 hours they would issue you a muzzle loader tag as well and if he wanted it the following year he would have to retake the class. Just parroting what he said
  18. Good Luck, Last day hopefully you will have some people moving the deer a bit
  19. I have a old mossberg bolt action that was shortend and masuer sights put on it. We call it "Big Bertha" It's a POS but we have killed dozens of deer with it suprisingly accurate. Far from my best but def my favorite
  20. So range/power basically is the difference. I can see that being an advantage over guns but bows not sure. I'm pretty sure a 45 cal bullet out of an airgun would make a 2 inch exit hole if not larger and still have a far great range then a arrow. Plus an arrow isn't a weapon ready to fire so accidental discharges are unlikely with a bow. Also the richett factor with a bow is very slim. I don't see a problem with airguns but I don't see them as any safer than a bow excpet for accuracy but then again accuracy is based on the operator.
  21. Or I could just walk around and find a place on my own in the woods and hope for the best
  22. Larry Weishun is biologist and spokes person for North America Hunting Club, QDMA, and is in many tv shows. As far as my friend I was using him as an example not judging him. If you reread what I posted it was him judging me for my deer considering himself an authority on the matter because he watchs a lot of TV even he doesn't have any experience for himself. People can do whatever they legally want and thats fine if they have money to blow like that but bottom line its not for me. I consider a trophy whats big for my area. Yes that means I may never get 150' + deer but anyone around here can look at my horns and say "Darn, you got those deer off public land around here?" I like getting deer, but I love the scouting, the sitting, the setting up stands, and the fact that I don't get 100% money back guarantee. Now my question is why would any one want a high fenced hunt? I remember I really wanted to pig hunt once so I went to a place in central PA. A big game ranch over 1,000 acres high fenced etc... What they didn't mention was that the 1000 acres were split up into 50 acre plots that had pigs are all over feeding out of tubs alog with deer, stag and other animals. If you walked out with a bucket you could have hit one in the head with a hammer and called yourself a hunter. Needless to say I didn't pig hunt and lost all respect for the type of hunting.
