  1. I hunt with a mossberg bolt action slug gun with detachable magazine. IT holds 2 rounds and their worried about that, These antis are getting crazy!!
  2. I'm seeing a lot about the NRA not supporting hunting, just wondering where this is coming from? I've always seen the NRA as a political party that supports all aspects of firearms and firearm rights.
  3. Is this what we do when hunting season ends?
  4. If you have a match chamber where the case sits against the rifling you wouldn't be able to close the bolt with out forcing it at which point you should realize theres a problem but most factory rifles don't come with match chambers that bullet just starts to seat in the rifling. If you reload you trim the brass anyway so there is absloutely no difference
  5. or maybe I've just been lucky for years
  6. Verm, find me one example where this actually occured? They were worried how the extra casing pushed up againsn't the rifling could cause a catasptopic failure because of the increased pressure even though the tolerances of rifles are well with in the capability of handling it. The problem you sometimes see is a blown primer that scolds the bolt face and leaves pitting
  7. Awesome, I think you spent more money this year then I have my entire hunting career!!
  8. .223 and 5.56 are the same thing. 5.56 is just metric. The military loads their ammo hotter but it would not cause you gun to blow up. People reload often load up hotter rounds than factory .223 equal or greater than the military. A bolt action .223 will typically have higher tolerances than any style Mil spec AR
  9. hmmmm..... First post trying to sell a gun sounds suspect to me!
  10. Worked on a farm for years, mostly doing lumber and fertilizer while growing up. During college in the summer I worked maintance at a golf course and waited tables at night. During the winter I was snow crew at ski resort. Briefly worked at foundary doing iron castings before I got a job in Law Enforcement
  11. Already a member and I will continue you as such. Regardless of their motivation, they remain the largest and one of the only groups fighting for our rights publicly.
  12. Hatchet, I find machetes useless in this region
  13. You will see an increase at first but nothing crazy, crossbows aren't free and the novelty wears off when hunters realize that deer don't kill themselves you still have to out and hunt even with a crossbow. I could really careless about regular hunters but it needs to be allowed for the handicap and elderly
  14. First I would like to say that I don't like crossbows Secondly I would say that they should be legal and a lot of what I'm hearing is BS My father due to old age and disablitity is a crossbow hunter in PA he wouldn't he allowed to hunt in NY during archery season under current legislation. That is a disgrace. The range of a cross bow is equal to that of a bow. I can shoot my bow more accurately then I can a cross bow out to 50 yards which a far greater distance than I would shoot with either. Yes you read on archery forums of people taking 100 yard shots but I also read on this site about how many people take head shots etc... Frankly I'm going to say its mostly BS. Yes with practice and a good rest I could hit something at a 100 yards but its simply not practical and I could do the same with my bow. As hunters and sportsman alike we need to bond together in this aspect and make the sport stronger. If you don't like it don't use a crossbow. It won't take anything away from your experince and you won't see an influx of people in the woods. I saw this happen in PA and nothing changed except a few older hunters are hunting a little longer.
  15. I like small calibers but if you want some range you have to go a little larger. The 260 is great flat shooting gun with umpph thats not going to blow your shoulder off. I love my 270 and would say you definitely can't go wrong with a gun in this cal either.
  16. Another absolutely ridiculous fake show is Amish Mafia
  17. I have been avoiding this site and these recent gun debates as of late as I feel that it way to soon in the wake of tragedy especially Sandy Hook that hit very close to home. I've was horrified to see the scum bag mayor of NY mayor Bloomburg screaming control even before the bodies of these victims had grown cold. No one can wrap their head around this tragedy so they are looking for reasons (Mental illness, gun control etc..) because we just can't fathom that there are such monsters in the world. I have always expressed my right-wing views about such things as gun control and President Obama but I have to give credit where its due and I was very grateful that the White house and the President took their time to express the liberal agenda and brushed off reporters and comments about gun control in the first days of this tragedy and expressed remorse and sympathy for the familys. I wish all liberals and even control advocates would have handled this the way Obama and his admin did. As a father of a young child and member of a church that was devastated by this, there has been nothing more disgusting then what I have seen from different advocates in the wake of this. I will reserve my opinions for the future when logic can overcome emotion and not so soon that I disrespect and disgrace the dead with my political views. I apologize for my rant. God be with everyone in Sandy Hook!
  18. My wife wanted a "REAL" tree this year, that equals more work for me!
  19. If you do tag it and report it thats a decent thing of you to do at this point. most wouldn't.
