  1. My grandfather mostly taught me the basics of hunting for deer and other animals. I tagged along with him a couple times a year before I was able to get a license of my own. After that it was mostly all self taught from what ive seen and read. My father used to hunt small birds back home in Europe, but he only did that so they had some meat to eat time to time. He was never really a hunter, so he just mostly tags along.
  2. officially none. I wouldn't doubt there may be one or two stragglers from the PA herd, but that is a bit unlikely.
  3. Unfortunately my plan will be to wake up early and head to take an Organic Chemistry 2 test. How ever ill be out on May 5th an hour before sunlight in my favorite blind. This year will be a little different as ill be teaching the landowner how to turkey hunt so ill be bouncing around a bit more. Hoping for another great season none the less.
  4. Ill be skipping opening day to avoid the crowds so ill go either Monday or Tuesday.
  5. I don't have one, but you cant go wrong with a 30-30 or a 35. Both of those cartridges will get the job done in most cases here in NY. My grandfathers marlin 30-30 has taken a lot of deer back when he used to hunt with it interchangeably. Im going to offer to buy it from him now that he doesn't hunt.
  6. It definitely is! But like Virgil said I've witnessed people name calling Obama and heard a few people saying he should be killed (in person, not on forum). It's gotten out of hand on all sides. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Have you ever thought about adding some ducks? I was told by someone that he found it easier to keep ducks than it was to keep chickens. Eggs were bigger too and supposedly had a more rich flavor. Looks awesome though! I wish I had some chickens, but they become a pain to keep down here. I always get eggs from my aunt when I go back to where my family comes from. Can't compare the taste Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. No there is no need to lie. As you pointed out he is frustrated and I think we've all done some things and said some things that we didn't mean in those times. I have friends that are so pro trump its almost impossible to talk to them at times when they get on the topics of politics in America, but I would never let it harm my relationship with someone. Give him some time and I'm sure he'll be back to his normal self.
  9. I have seen this hatred for both sides. Trump is definitely far out there, whether you love him or hate him so its easy to see how he would ruffle some feathers and create riffs between friends. This is why I don't talk politics with people...some just cant handle someone being on the other side of how they see things.
  10. Appreciate it guys! Spent all day surrounded by family and just got back home from a wedding. Anyone that knows weddings for my culture knows we have hundreds of people at a wedding so I was quite literally surrounded by family all day lol. Thanks again guys, I really appreciate each and every one of you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Ill never leave NY, but it definitely would be something I would look for if I was moving
  12. I try to take a couple doe or fawns before the rut starts going and i focus on bucks. Although if a doe is regularly using a certain trail, ill try not to shoot that one in hopes she'll bring a buck in behind her come the rut. I actually don't like taking does after the rut.
  13. I must have missed it too, but ive never seen anyone go against wooly in a bad way so i cant see him doing it
  14. No need to concede, were just having a discussion here. I've followed and researched moose extensively because I'm anxious to see a season here in NY and up until the latest estimate came out, i was fairly confident we would see a season in the next 10 years. Now im not sure, but still rooting for them to come back. And i doubt we'll even get close to reintroducing elk in NY with in the next 10 years also. If you still disagree with what I have shown you go ahead and say it...I wont be offended at all. I respect everyone's opinion.
  15. Where my family comes from if someone hit your child, the parents would beat that child even more for having to be hit by someone else lol. Not many places you can still do that
  16. I'm sure poachers are causing damage, but take a minute to look up brainworm. They are saying its one of the leading causes of moose population decline over all of the north east, as well as ticks. CWD and brainworm is not the same thing though.
