Looks like I’m up 12k or so today, that should cover the house we’re renting next Feb in Hawaii. Maybe enough left over for one of those flower shirts ....

I’m in, and my def. comp is mid six figures not five ,can’t edit it now ..... I was just going to use a chunk of that along with some cash and be done with it . Not sure that is the smartest, but i like simple .

Thanks. Wife suggested home equity, for some unknown reason , perhaps she is right . House here has been paid off for, many years . FLA would be our winter place , we have before and can now rent for the winter for the cost of a years HOA, taxes, fees ,utilities, and not drop 200k on buying . I have a mid five figure amount in the general fund of my deferred comp , that’s paying 3 some % ( I hold that in place of bonds ) we also have way to, much in cash, and about 100k in an annuity ( don’t ask ... lol ) I can pull a chunk out of . Some out of each of those was my initial thought . I have to meet at the bank next week, I’ll look into home equity.

So we we’re toying with the idea of buying a condo, in Fla this year, but now Mrs Nomad wants to wait a year, as we’ll be down there for the winter next year to shop, as opposed to using a realtor friend and other friends who live there to shop around for us . Im hoping the coming inflation depresses the housing market , mortgage rates are not a concern for us , in this purchase . Thoughts ?

Splitear, valid point and one Ive pondered often . NYPD has or had “ color of the day “ to keep their undercover guys from taking friendly fire . Myself, my first duty is to my family and I, that means beating feet if possible , then cover / concealment if escape is not possible . As far as engaging the bad guy, I guess I’d try to keep my gun hidden for the most part then shoot the guy with the long gun ..... or the guy shooting unarmed folks ,woman, kids, store workers ,I’d take those as a clue as to who the bad guy is . If I see another old, fat, white guy with a gun ,I’d know the shooter was not him

Not much time , I’m going shooting , couple random thoughts. ARs are the low hanging fruit, as mentioned above ,handguns proved to difficult for the antis as a starting point , but it’s in theme game . The poster who said that and most of these shootings could be done with a shotgun, is correct , one of the beauty’s of the shotgun ,is you never have to run it dry . In an hour I’ll be on my range ,one of the drills I’ll practice is this . 5 rounds 00 buck in the gun 5 on the stock, fire 2 rounds then while moving to next position load two from stock , fire 3, while moving again load 3 from the stock. I also have shell holders I can put on my belt , to,keep it going if I choose , but you get the point . I watched the 3 hour live video of that shooting , guy dropped two in the parking lot, so plenty of time to top off a shotgun moving to the store where he shot another just inside the door and so on . A SG might not be my first choice ( theory here only ) but it would be quite effective as well .

Ha you can buy a 1,400 round bucket for $225 online at Buds, been listed for many days now . I don’t think we’ll see full shelves in stores for maybe two years . Check this out , it’s from a small ammo maker who caters to the competitor shooter who doesn’t reload I guess. They listed 300,00 rounds of 9mm and it all sold in under three minutes ! My latest purchase was some 20 Ga slugs for my daughters 870 ( back up gun ) I requested to be notified when they came in , last October, and got notified last week , a good five months later . Oh and they had a whole 29 boxes, I took five not wanting to be greedy . Oh I’m going shooting tomorrow, a couple hundred 9mm and maybe a couple dozen 00 Buck, through my Benelli, hot weather’s a coming .

You also need to consider the weight of the tires , going from the stock tire which sucks, ( I have an ‘18 outback ) to a same size but heavier tire ,like an AT tire come at a cost . I went with Goodyear All weather Assurance btw . Here’s a fun piece on “ modified “ Subarus , and a bit on heavier tires . https://www.outsideonline.com/2405421/how-to-modify-crossover-vehicle-off-road#close

I’m sorry the forum is circling the drain because of a few posters . Honestly some of chefs posts , made me cringe , the two girls one cup , what kind of person even knows these type of things are out there , and then think to share it here ?

How much time do you put in ? I found my first this year after 8 hours of looking , found number two an hour or so after . Most years I find one for each 2-3 hours . As mentioned it’s best to look where they winter, I like green fields ,as they can still feed in them over the winter . I also walk a lot of hedgerows, as the deer follow them on the farm going from point A to B . Woods and thickets , I find them but it’s generally when I almost step on them , matted down fields you can glass and see them from a long ways off . Also turn around from time to time , it’s easy to miss one on the “ other side “ of a tree trunk . I have two thickets left to hit on the farm and I’m not looking forward to that . Many here are much better at this then I

I love the orange strap I put on my pilots watch , it’s a rubber strap infused with vanilla, as rubber tends to pick up smell from sweat . My inside joke is it’s a dive strap on a pilots watch ! The pilots watch is sterile , ie, no branding or listing the country that the movement was made in , in case I go down behind enemy lines . Tomorrow we can talk about my Seiko dive watch model SKX007 that was customized by a maker in Hong Kong ,that I then added a shark mesh strap too . Now I gotta figure out how to reset the clock on my Subaru ....

Watches mostly , but , travel ,food , cars , jobs, investing ,family . Google it , you can look around for yourself . And jemery , G shock are also loved by many there , there are a few snobs , but they’re soon put in their place , most guys are excepting of any brands , and anyone ,unlike Mathews guys .....

Never had a traditional bow, but my first compound I shot fingers for a good 15 years . I just used a tab, never tried a glove ,idk never gave these things much thought .

That’s a nice find Larry . Im hitting it hard next week with the nice weather . Although while January had bucks all over my spot per my cameras , February was sparse.

Spot on. May I suggest that section be limited , to hunting, gun laws, conservation type threads .

I know a guy who sold .223 ammo to a gun shop from his private stash ,which is substantial, and he made a nice profit.

Ya I’ve met WNYbuckhunter a few times over the last few years , solid guy . Get rid of the political section, there’s decent guys that knowing we’re opposite political wise tends to color my opinions of them, where as if we just shared a campfire I’m sure we’d get along fine . I’ve been trying to avoid it yet I get sucked in ....

You need to go when they post the shipment on FB ,which is generally at the stores opening although due to requests by working folks, they do stagger it to later in the day sometimes . Depending on the amount received some calibers can last a bit . Personally I’d rather pay a much higher price for a case online , then run out there for two boxes at normal prices . Also which I take as a good sign ,Buds Guns ,online has some ammo in stock that has always sold out PDQ , including 9mm, .22 LR, and 20 Ga slugs ( I got 5 boxes of Brenneke for $10 per ) , yes the price on 9mm and .22 is really high , but not as high as it was before and it all sold then .

I belong to two forums with strict rules that are rigorously enforced, while I don’t agree with the some of those rules, I have no choice but to follow them . I’ll say both places are squared away , and totally focused on the subject of the forum . Heres Rule #6 from the Rolex Forum , what’s interesting is many members are also gun and knife guys , along with a number of hunters , but we can’t even mention those subjects on the forum . 6.CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS OR POSTS such as those relating to politics, race, culture, religion, sexual orientation or discrimination, violence (towards persons or animals) will be subject to the final and absolute discretion of the Moderators to be immediately locked and/or removed without notice to any member. No gun, knife, weapon threads or pictures of such since we are a worldwide forum and many members are not comfortable with this type of material. Infraction points and a possible lifelong ban will inevitably accompany such threads.

Facebook. Sportsman warehouse Rochester, posts when ammo comes in and what caliber. Generally they post early in the morning that it hits the shelves this was posted today around 8- 8:30 . For those looking for primers, they seem to come in fairly regularly, but not in this last shipment . Ammo is two box limit or one bulk pack, prices are just a bit more then pre shortage , 9mm ball looks to be around $16-$20 for 50, hard to make out tags .

When I read This today it brought tears to my eyes . I knew before hand he went to the hospital , after going through the “ maze” aka mask confidence course . We went through ours annually, you come out sweaty ,and low on air it’s challenging as it should be . Rumor has it he complained of difficulty breathing , but was told to push through and not disappoint the instructors , which is the wrong course of action for, them to,take . Then there was an issue with getting an ambulance . Anyways his dream was to become a career FF and he achieved it at 21 ! Took me till 30 ..... God bless his family , what a great guy ! https://www.nny360.com/news/jeffersoncounty/watertown-firefighter-peyton-morse-dies-of-injuries-suffered-in-line-of-duty/article_6b759197-26d5-5c91-8058-36679a6ff5ad.html

My understanding of Beck is that they ruled in his favor, and only the part of dues needed for collective bargaining , can be made mandatory ,all others are voluntary . https://fedsoc.org/commentary/fedsoc-blog/beck That sure jives with my Union experience. Most of my career we had no PAC , then at one meeting the Pres. said that when he contacts our state and local politicians, they never return his calls . So he asked for voluntary contributions of $2 per pay period (26 ) so a grand total of $52 a year to start a PAC, which most guys I know gladly signed up for . Also despite the Janus ruling , 100% of our guys are Union members . My pension fund is also last I knew 108 % funded .
