  1. P.S. I wasnt going to post any further comments, but seeing you have refered to me as a idiot twice, I felt I owed it to you.
  2. You have two deer already feeding at a spot 25 Yards from your stand..Then comes the albino and the other one,, Obviously not browsing or grazing through the woods, they are headed for the same spot as the two already feeding on your nice brown leaves.. Then when the albino arrives and shows her dominace and brushes two away saying this is my spot, Again normal browsing,, Then the other doe picks you off or winds you and then they start on to Browse somewhere else Yea Right,, You put it out there, and thats what I got out of it,, As far as seen bait kernal corn spread out, birdseed , etc Only you will know the truth..
  3. Watch how they go by the stand and same leaves and feed on ground and stop ??? Really
  4. Four deer eating leaves ??? 15 feet from each other ?? What are they feeding on
  5. Im not saying I know anything ,, I just found it unsual that was the same shed after , such prefound drops from each side ,to suddenly not have them the next year..Thats all
  6. They also say in that article they dont develop the drop tine till 3 to 4 years of age
  7. Your pics are incredible and not trying to argue,, while you were posting pics, I was doing a little reasearch myself because I was unsure.. I dont know how to link website but heres address Type in your search bar ( gooogle) antler abnormalities understanding non typicals whitetail institute Not saying it cant happen, but generally follow the deer year to year.. I have never shot a drop tine buck but multiple split brows and a third beam.. I think you just got a great heard and two many to keep track of lol
  8. In 2011 he had matching drop tines and this year none, That doesnt make sense,, sure thats the same deer , and not another ?? Nice job on finding the sheds, I thought once they carried that genetic trait it reappeared, not dissappered. IM confused
  9. Very nice buck.. Have to ask what is the purpose of the real bottom teeth in the mount forgive me, never heard of a mount done like that... All mine standard foam head with glass eyes??
  10. There are different areas where a deer will swim to islands,, on lakes and rivers.. While making this trex they are sitting ducks, not fair chase, that is how understand it..
  11. One could say opening bow season 2 weeks early would take alot of 1 1/2 old deer also??? Thats all I saw for that two weeks.. Take them early or late they are gone.. Hows that helping your big bucks?? Im into shooting big bucks ,but shooting a buck period is my goal for any season big or small... Ny Antler right on,, I stand hunt just for the opposite reason ,I always want to be by the next tree or over there, and cant sit still. What ever works for you..
  12. I dont need to change my tactics I shoot a buck with my bow every year for 20 years and one with my gun for the last 20 years ,, I also took three does this year ...Persoanlly dont agree with the Archery season opening up 2 weeks early,, It was hot and to much folige on trees.. You cant even hang a deer its just to warm.. I saw deer consistantly thought the new opening of the season.. I personally dont like it and have found to many people I know that were thrilled with it,, in my circles... I also hunt three seperate propertys in locations far different from each other,, with people that have hunted theses lands for years not overhunted or pressured or pushed.. Again my opion that the wheather has changed the deer movent excluding rut, to some degree..The deer simply are not pressured to move for food the grass is still green and its raining on DEC 10 have not have snow on the ground here yet that hasnt been gone in a day... I also have taken a doe with my muzzleloader or been presented with a shot every year .. I have in 20 years only taken one buck with it.. I understand that every area offers differnet opportunitys and deer density ... This however is my view, and alot of people who I hunt and talk to .. I think gun season would be better of opening a week earlier Just my opion I dont have a axe to grind or dog to fight ..Good luck to all Maybe this will be the yaer I get a giant with my smokepole, and Ill eat my words
  13. I know this is going to cause a stir , but whats the point of muzzleloading or late bow season.. By the end of gun its so hard to shoot a deer, then limit to 30 yards or one shot with the possibilty of miss fire or delay. Talk about wounding a animal.. If the DEC wants a larger deer take , they should rethink hunting season??? The wheather is clearly changing in NY .. Opening bow two weeks earlier was a great brain fart in my opion.... I have been hunting 20 years and when gun season hits you have the first week to get a deer and then they are tied up and gone ( Nocturnal) All the guys and gals I hunt with took deer opening week and no sightings after same as every year.. I have always said to my group why not open gun one week earlier and that would be a awesome gun season..
  14. I would rather my baby is safe and I know where it is .. I dont have a spare bow so when it comes up missing, and Im not hunting,,, thats my Deer logic....
  15. What would be the advantage of leaving your bow at your stand ?? I also would not be able to sleep at night,I hunt private property and I had a guy in my treestand opening weekend of gun.. You never know
  16. I may be wrong but if you shoot a deer,,, wounded or not, its hunting??? Be ready to tag it.. Shooting and not recoverving very gray area ??? Shooting it is hunting??? Letting nature take it ,, Are the yotes doing their job??
  17. You only get one tag I can understand that... At least your Honest.. I guess I can say the same if it was early season not sure If I would pull the trigger either.. I guess I was refering more to late season like this ..Sounds like your area you need to be a professor not just an average educator.. Peace good luck with the big boy..
  18. JFB I have a question, if I was hunting and saw a wounded animal, I would have used my tag to expire it.. Did you already fill your buck tag ?????
  19. One shot for sure will do the job.. I see alot of lack of preparation before the season to blame also... People dont take the time to shoot and make sure there gun is still sighted in properly,, I know one guy that has a scope and changed brands of slugs , and didnt think he had to sight his gun in for the different ammo .. I tried to explain they will not fly the same, and left it at you better sight your gun in before you hunt,, he didnt and missed twice... Some people just shouldnt hunt..
  20. Was Lucky enough to be able to take this buck tonight ..
  21. This tree stand was just on the History Channel... The new show invention....Made because of disabled brother!! Show was on 12-05-12 10.00 PM Channel 62 History Channel
  22. This is a doe I was able to take opening day in the 7J..
  23. We have always seen them on deer after shooting and hanging, they would swell up around neck area of deer... Never have had a problem with getting them though... Last year being so warm and this year isnt much better, After going to Urgent care learned alot about the little fellas,, Seems like when its warm is when I see them or get them... They hang on brush or grass and wait for you to brush against , and thats how they get on you..Member of the spider family, and if you get them off in what they told me 56 hours or before they vomit back in you you dont really have a chance of getiing lyme disease,, Must be careful of pulling them out , which requires the tool not to break the head off in you .. nasty little buggers
