Never have had a problem till this year... Last weekend before gun went out to check stands that I use for gun ,, Got out of shower and had two ticks in my back ,, had to go to urgent care to get pulled out.. Friend of mine while out looking for a deer that was hit , had one crawling up his arm.. Tonight in my stand had one crawling on my hand at different hunting spot.. Was just wondering if the warm weather or just the Syracuse area is infested with deer ticks ???

$800.00 bucks... Then wheeling that into and through the woods and finding a tree in the dark to set up in ??? Certainly neat but doesnt seem practical..

By him strolling throgh giving a waive ,, seems like he thinks he has permisson from somebody to go on your property..Maybe you should have a talk with you neighbor and set some boundries or rules..

What I get out of this is there is no corn in his area period... So if It had corn in its teeth It would have been from a household bird feeder or Baiting....

I have 60 acres that I have hunted for 13 years ... This year a house that is near our property was rented out. After anual reposting of property found multiple 4 wheeler trails through our property and a ladder to one of our stands missing with a four wheeler trail next to it... We dont use machines on this propety....Confornted him and informed him to stay off the propety and not to try and sneak in,, responded that he has property he hunts and wouldnt be a issue... After about 2 weeks a ground blind went up 150 feet from his house not on our property and stayed there through bow season.. At the end of bow season he started to construct a tree stand adjacent to ground blind clearly visable from road and with the intent to gun hunt this stand...We called the DEC and informed them he wasnt 500 feet from his neighbor or the business on each side and thought he may be baiting...The officer couldnt make it there when he said due to other calls.. So my partner opening morning going to get a cup of coffee sees him in the stand hunting...Goes to the store and two local cops are there and he tells them the situation and they go and pull into business next door,, and he gets down and goes inside without them seeing him.. They call my partner asking him where the stand is and they see and go to his door.. His wife answers the door saying hes not there ,, the dummy calls out from the other room saying are they gone yet... They talk to him and he says he doesnt have permisson from neighbors and will not hunt there anymore... That afternoon the DEC officer shows up and he responds I know I cant hunt there the police were here earlier..The DEC officer states he will need to see the stand.. He got all nervous according to the officer... What he found was mutiple salt blocks, corn and apples.. The officer made him pick up bait in some type of bins and took it with him... He was ticketed and said we wont have to worry about him anymore this year.. I was able to take Harvest a Deer on our property but will never know the effect of his actions, on my bow season...F ing scum bag..

I am just making a broad wild statement, But think what I have gathered from 25 years of hunting is that most people dont really now what legal hunting hours are...If most hunters followed sunrise and sunset times, I would gather that most deer taking early or late were taking after legal shooting time For instance today was 7.24 AM and tonight 6.11 PM See how that works in your stand tonight..

I dont think so, I would say being prepared for the time to come when you are able to hunt...I have to wait to knock a arrow at legal light??? Gun season load my 1100 in the stand at legal light that would scare of any deer..The whole point of going in early is to be prepared

I asked this question to a DEC officer ,, about being in your stand after dark.. I said what if I had deer around and did not want to get down and spook them,,, He said it was fine to stay in your stand ,he said if he were to come in the woods , he could determine if i was hunting or not?? Take that how you will.. I always put a arrow in my bow when I get in my stand in AM Cant shoot if you have bad eyes like me and cant see your pins anyway..Same as for dusk...

Hunting hours change everyday!!!!!!!!!! You can google sunrise sunset new york and will tell you day by day ..Sunrise and Sunset

Im with you bucks still paired up and 1 1/2old bucks runing the button bucks off from Does.. Next week my guess here.. Have seen 8 different bucks all alone or together. Not interested in the does feeding.. Always around Halloween chasing and breeding seems to start around here..??? As far as I have been told and learned rut is determined by amount of daylight???/

I not trying to bring you down hope you go out in AM and retrive your prize .. Shot alot of deer ,, one tough mother they are , there will to live, in dire conditions and wounds still amaze me...No blood worries me ,, never shot any deer with not something as far as blood on arrow , Thats all.. Even a bad gut shot leaves clear liquid, one smell and you know its time to go to bed ,and go out in A.M. Which still has hair and a trace of blood.. Good Luck though just doesnt sound right.

Not to be a bummer never killed a deer with no blood on arrow,, They are meant to cause massive bleading as you know,, Hair not good. High back strap, still blood on arrow ..Sounds like a miss confusion to me ,,

Anymore info on this buck,, Was this taken in Fenner by windmills,I heard a giant was taken on the road I hunt,, I had a run in last year ,with this buck, if it was????

I spoke to fast they hear the bullet hit, then start counting to hear the shot, then can caluculate an approxmate distance.. Not going to happen with a 12 gauge Was just saying its possible..

So how do you guys feel about the youth hunt ????

Our Miltary snipers use muzzle break to calculate distance...

The youth hunt is a great opportunity to get young one in the woods,,, The only issue I have is with the season opening eary this year and so much foliage that a accident could occur,,With us in full camo... Some mentors may not be the up to the task..

I looked on the website and what confuses me is says cant have a autoloading firearm with a capacity of 6 shells ??? I would have 5 + the smoke pole ... I know I am grasping at straws here .. Just though someone may no for sure..

I have a question I am unsure about... During regualar season is it legal to carry your shot gun, and your muzzle loader .. I hunt in non rifle area,, so would like to increase my range ,, from past encounters...

I let it rip on opening night ,,, Grunted buck in and got downwind to check out .. And busted me .. My scent or piss?? I belive it was the piss..

I simply was expressing my opion on the legality of a food plot!!! Which is in my opion, a loop hole, in the system ,as I have stated ...I think its a Legal way to bait deer based on the results of landowners and friends,, That have PLANTED THESE BAIT LOTS ... I do no live in a area where there are 700 acres of corn... Swamp and hardwood,, place a tasty food plot and works havoic on the natural deer behavior.. For neighboring hunter who may not be able to afford this type of hunting... Not to metion the increased deer take...Not helping the heard !!! through the winter .. This is just a seperate perspective on the issue ,,, There are many different scenrios and results Positive and negative,, I just try to play devils advocate and see both sides.. Just a thought.. If you can plant a apple tree why cant you spread apples in a 30 foot radius,, its not a pile.. If you do it long enough you may start to belive there is a tree there..
