Oh man that is so sweet. really nice buck. Congrats to your family friend.

That just reminded me at another Dick's store (not the same one I was at yesterday) I tried to buy a brick of .22 and the cashier demanded to see a "firearms" permit. I looked at her like she had 2 heads and said what the heck are you talking about. She could tell by the tone of my voice thingss were about to get ugly and quickly got on the phone to the store manager. Needless to say the situation was quickly resolved and I was sold the ammo. And NO they did not ask for any ID at this store to buy the ammo.

Bowhunting from the ground is the rush of all rushes IMO. Congrats.
-
Good job erussell. Were you wearing your ghillie suit at the time?
-
Nope, as soon as she seen the boxes of ammo even before she scanned them she said I needed to show a valid ID. I gave her my drivers license and I watched here put my NY drivers license ID# into the register. I asked her why she was doing that and when did they start doing that? She said she has done it since the day she started there and couldnt give me an answer why it was required, but told me if I didnt show an ID I wasnt getting the ammo.

Good job sssurfertim, congrats

Just picked up some steel shot at Dick's Sporting Goods and I was required to show a valid ID and the cashier put my iD into their computer system. Is this normal? Never in 32 years have I ever had to do this.

Does this apply to deer found on state land also?

Welcome. This is a great site and you'll enjoy it here.
-
What did you get for a price?
-
Good job. Were you in a stand or did you shoot it from the ground?

This is good reading. I enjoy it. Can't wait to read more.

You have to remember that many LE hunt also and know the laws. Heck I have had off duty LE stop and talk to me as they too were hunting. A few years ago I had a state trooper pull across the road to block me as I came down a seasonal dirt road. His partner jumped out of the SUV and the first thing he asked was if I had a gun in the vehicle and were was it. The next question was if I had any game in the vehicle. I thought for sure I was going to get a ticket for expired inspection, but nope. They sent me on my way and all was good.

This is why I prefer to hunt from the ground with bow at this time of the year.

I think he is right. What the DEC wants the DEC gets. Just like this youth hunt this year. As far as the youth hunt, there were a lot of youth hunters out and about in 4F this past weekend and I have seen no evidence this week that it has effected deer movement or behavoir

Has anyone mentioned the spell check in Firefox? Does not work?

And be sure to make a left onto County Route 23 from 51 to get to the state lands.

When I drove to Edmeston the other night to pick up pizza at Spikes I must have seen over 50 deer including on Big buck just outside of Edmeston north of the school.
-
This deer is dead you need to give it your all. Pull up google earth and look for areas he might have wanted to bed down in. Like others have told you, call in Deer Search.

That was the first thing I thought when I seen your video.

I have that blind and love it, BUT not for bowhunting. It's too small IMO for pulling back a bow in,....... especially with 2 hunters inside. you will be tucked all the way in the corner tight when at full draw and your shooting angle will be limited. That blind is sold at all major outdoor retailers for an average price of $65.00. I got mine at Dick's a few years ago for $50.00. It's a great turkey blind and I use mine for rifle and muzzleloader, but not for bow.
