I always see people fishing down at the south side dam across from walmart. I have caught a few bruisers below the falls. You can also fish Wilber pond (Oneonta Reservoir) which belongs to the city of Oneonta. Shore fishing only and has DEC access. I ice fish that lake exclusively during the winter months.

Taking away the ability to harvest a doe with my bow would most likely put an end to my bowhunting. I always encounter doe's while bowhunting. I'll see 9 doe's to every buck during the bowhunting season. I bowhunt to put meet on the table.

Bill the Susquehanna river is loaded with smallmouth bass, which does run right through Oneonta. Oneonta area has plenty of bass fishing. If you own a boat you can launch behind Knotts Motel off of RT 28 which is about 15 minutes north of Oneonta. You'll be above the hydro dam on the river. The lake is called Goodyear Lake and is loaded with both smallmouth and largemouth along with walleye. The hottest spot in town if you ask me.

Just because it is legal does not mean a DEC officer wont charge you for it. Im sure Bubba can tell you of countless court cases that have been presented in front of him where it turned out that the LE was either misinformed or interpreted the law wrongly. I will say that a bicycle is not considered a motor vehicle and does NOT fall under the NY state laws when involved with firearms. However I will state, it is not a good idea to ride a bike with a loaded gun. This is more of a safety issue then anything else. Besides how hard would it be to stop and pop a shell in if you did encounter wildlife while biking. Think about it.

We are now approaching mid June and I dont recall from the past, seeing so much waterfowl flying around this time of the year. Both geese and ducks are flying over everyday. Are we experiencing a bad nesting season ?

We got hit yesterday in Otsego County. Had my radio on and could hear the reports, but I had a ton of static from all the lighting. It is common.
