    That tree is in the section of woods that is all pines , a 17 foot stand would be too tall for that tree and for the area . Most of the trees are low hanging and its in an area that opens up in about a 40 yard diameter area where 4 trails come together. I do like ladder stands though.

    oh,ive thought about that too, just stick it in there and be done with it , part of me wants a bigger stand i can move around a little .

    Alot of dead stuff all around the base of the tree too ,I figured what ever I cut ,I would string around the back side of the tree to deter them from coming up behind me.

    This is the tree in question, it seems really mature . I'm guessing trees never stop growing ,do they slow down on growth as they get older?

    I hear ya, it seems every year we have to relearn their travel patterns (if we even do) A hot stand one year can be a ghost town the next.

    Any of you guys build "permanent " stands in a tree? I found a nice mature pine with 3 main trunks in a busy area . Just looking for ideas to keep it huntable for as long as possible . The German in me always over builds everything but what about treating the wood (pressure treated?) Zinc plated lags? . Just looking for some after thought from the guys that have done it before.

    Haha, I see your point .Just having an idea of which way they're coming from and being able to play the wind would be nice . No doubt that you put in more then enough work at your place . It's probably why you have a good idea which way to expect them from.

    Kicking myself again for not hanging a couple more stands over the summer.

    I had a spike take an hour long nap behind my stand today (I hate when they do that) saw a bunch of doe out of range moving briskly through the woods.

    I saw an online asking if veterans should reciever health care for life , how is that even a question? I sent everyone I know who served, a text message yesterday,just a simple thank you for your service.

    Anyone else like the little game that your eyes and brain pull on you as it gets light out ,I've seen the most cool stuff during that period of time only to realize it's a branch or a stump.

    I'm really starting to realize how much of challenge it's going to be to raise my son to not be a self entitled cry baby, he is going to be surrounded by them at school all day.

    The compilation videos of people crying at hillarys camp is priceless. They had 8 years of their guy in office and he destroyed a nation almost as bad as possible in 8 years . Now it's time to try something new ,obviously throwing fists full of money at a problem isn't the way to fix anything.
