  1. I like to be sure that im gonna put a good shot on the animal when i shoot at it . Until this year i wouldn't have shot more than 25 yards at a deer , Ive been shooting 2-3 times a week since January ,i wouldn't think twice about taking a 40 yard shot but my treestands are limited to 30 yards.
  2. Vacuum the gutters out ,oil change on the vehicles and install a ceiling light in the soon to be babies room. Not all before opening day but sooner than later.
  3. Right after work oct.1st ,ill go out and sit til dark . Not expecting to see much activity , i just love hunting so just being out there will be exciting.
  4. I hear what your saying, before mechanicals we had to shoot broadheads before the season to make sure they were dialed in . Now I don't have to do that anymore and I'm liking it so far.
  5. That reminds me of the latest gimmick I saw while watching the hunting shows,it was a grunt tube that had like a 3o foot hose connected to it so you could run it down and project the sounds at ground level ,it guess you could just take the grunt call off and attach a funnel ,maybe switch back and forth between funnel and grunt tube... yuck.
  6. Mine moved into my chest a couple days ago . Ive been taking a break from sniffling and blowing my nose to hack my brains out. At least we get it out of the way before hunting season starts.
  7. I just started shooting an Elite this year, new to me 2010 Z28 , ive already started the search for a second Elite to build a 3D rig for next year.
  8. It even has a front porch , nice.
  9. I got my hooyman for christmas, now that I've used it ,I would pay the 80 bucks for it. My dad had a hand saw that had a sort of cam lock on the handle so you could use a sapling or branch to attach to the handle.
  10. How many people won't use a mechanical broadhead because it's one more thing to fail but hunt with a drop away rest? I just got done shooting 3 diffrent broadheads ,rage 2 and 3 blade as well as muzzys fixed blade. The rage shoot the same as a field tip and the muzzys take off 5 inches to the left. I'm all for using the ones that shoot good without screwing around.
  11. Go with a 1.5 inch cutting diameter mechanical.
  12. I was only joking about the apple pile comment, I was referring to last year or maybe the year before when that guy came on with the picture of the huge buck standing over the pile of apples and everyone went crazy on him.
  13. O sure ,delete the pile of apples in the background...
  14. One of the spots we hunt ,100 acres ,my buddy's wife was out walking the dogs when a hunter came up screaming at her. She said to him that she was gonna talk to the land owner who is their neighbor about who he would rather have on the property . He changed his tune real quick. It really depends on the person who owns the land as to who has the right away.
  15. I think you are screwed . Unless said dog always finds a dead animal carcass to roll in on said property . Ya know ,but what are the chances a dead animal carcass will be in the weeds all the time...
  16. Awhile back ,I read a article which I can't remember the author,he was saying that no matter what signs you see or don't see, to set up in a spot that has multiple trails crossing. We have a spot that has 5 trails crossing at the same point and every year there is a scrape that gets started and freshened up all season right where the trails all cross.
  17. I have more of a problem believing that a weatherman can predict the weather 3 weeks out.
  18. I wouldn't mess around with an eye wound
  19. I made the switch after trying pellets . It is very clean(compared to pellets) . I have never had a misfire since making the switch , except for the primers ,i switched to a federal shot primer instead of a weaker muzzle loader primer. Occasionally ,say every 5-10 shots ill push a brush through the bore but i havent noticed a change in shot placement or amount of force to load a round before or after the brush. It really is hands down better then anything else you can buy .
  20. Must be something in the area,I'm getting my butt kicked by one also, started late friday. I must have got up to blow my nose 50 times last night.
  21. As you plow your way into one side of thick stuff the deer just get up and walk out the other side undetected. You could try hunting between the thick stuff and where they are feeding.
  22. keep practicing at 20 then and also add in some sets at close range (like 3 yards) just focusing on holding the pin steady during the release. If you can get those 2 down and the 30 pin is set on your bow ,you should have no problem hunting at 30 which is a mile during archery season. Watch the arrow through the sight until it makes contact.
  23. They're running across the powerlines in my back yard teasing Rupert.
