you are handling it perfectly. Enjoy the rest of your hunt. You never know what when monster is walking behind you...am I'm not talking about Halloween. It can wait until later.

I don't know, they'll move but not like if it was 40. It's terrible!

I don't agree with anyone that is irritated with me (us) for not smiling in the pictures. Matter of fact, its starting to irritate me that you'd even care what I look like in the picture. However, "what really grinds my gears" is hunters telling other hunters what they should and shouldn't shoot. If it's legal don't worry about what he or she shoots, especially when its on their own land. This never made sense to me.

No matter how I take pictures with my bucks, they still don't look impressive. This is a dandy!

Friendship, come on rut... You guys think a week out in 9P? It has to be close!

Deputy, Sorry to hear. We just purchased our first boxer 3 or so months ago. I love boxers but am totally frustrated with their kid-like demeanor. You have some beautiful pics and memories. Hopefully this will bring a smile to your face! Her name is Lily...

It's money, bottom-line... However, you wouldn't want to risk spreading disease or any other contamination. I don't know how low some low-population deer areas really are. I don't think food is the entire issue. I think there is a lack of deer hunters. For instance, behind my house I've been watching a small 6 and the other night a big bodied 8 was strolling through. You know how many neighbors I mention that there was a deer or two in their yard. They reply, " really??? We've lived here 15 years and have never seen one." I almost find it impossible to believe but maybe. I don't think the deer numbers are great but the deer are around...

Large buck hit last night in Town of Niagara on Military Rd.. The buck actually hit the side of the car. It's ramping up. With the weather today, I would expect tomorrow would be a catch up day. If you can get In the woods, get in the woods. For us unlucky ones, we'll be fantasizing that we are.

This is serious question. I couldn't tell you. Maybe 75-100, been bow hunting 19 years or so.
-
Crazy! Saw my first rub walking in Niagara County today.
-
How does that happen to the point the signs get printed.
-
Yep. I won't be up till Monday but in for long haul after that. Have two weeks off. Seeing scrapes or rubs?
-
Hey Jeremy, Well, that's good because not close yet. Should be soon and I want to hit the majority of it.
-
So anxious for next week (Monday). Anyone been hunting 9P? If so, how is the movement and rut activity? I haven't been to camp since Oct. 12th, will be down Nov. 2-16th. Hope I catch good amount of activity before the breeding phase kicks in. We all know that can get lonely unless a doe is under your stand.

LMAO! Yea, pretty cool deer. Thanks again!!!

Jerkman, Thanks, he is a 5, you might have missed the drop tine, the best part.

This isn't a large rack and some of you might wonder why I got it mounted. Long story short, I was owed a free mount by my taxidermist. It's ironic, the reason I had a free mount coming was because this said Taxidermist was hunting a desired buck for 5 or 6 years. He had found 4 straight years of sheds(both sides), the 5th year he had the one but he could never locate the other. The reason being, it was in my bedroom. Months earlier my Dad was behind a collision shop looking for a fender when he kneeled down and located a very heavy 5 point rack sticking out of the snow. He brought it home and gave it to me. After awhile and enough talking, word spread I had the half shed, out of the blue I received a call from the Taxidermist asking if he could buy it. I wasn't interested in money and would much rather have a free mount. He granted it to me on this rack. We have since become quite a good acquaintances. I strictly use him for all mounts. He is a great taxidermist and guy! This was my first deer with a bow. I was in the process of calling in 2 doe with a fawn bleat when suddenly I heard this guy to my left. We all seem to be a close group on here so all honesty; I missed first shot at 15 yards, I blew arrow over his back. He didn't really react, so I had time to nock another, he was now about 25 yards where I blew it AGAIN!!! This shot was low, straight under him. He now was irritated and ran out to about 35 yards where third LUCKY placed arrow hit him in the femoral artery. It was surreal to the point of ridiculousness. I was only 17 and a terrible archery hunter, I needed all the luck in the world. Now I believe I have at least some skill. Either way, I'm proud of the rack.

Wow, they could have given more information. Wish I would have known whether it was a buck or doe. I would say we are getting very close for some helter skelter. -
Never happened but close. After sitting hours with the elements deteriorating, you suddenly get surprised and now have to fully draw without detection, it becomes difficult.
-
Use them... However, I don't think you spooked the big buck because the drag line. I think he probably smelled you. They're smart! Keep using them...
-
Oh, didn't realize that. Thanks for the heads up!

Well after getting my doe back from my processor, I decided to make all the ground into Jerky. I'm going to zip-lock 1/2 lbs. baggies and bring them to camp for my all day sits. First time I've used the Teriyaki blend. I think I prefer the Original and Hickory but still good. I used the Jerky blaster which you can see on the far right.

I think we are still a week early. As someone stated. Still a lot of movement right at dawn or dusk. I think about a week out for the majority of mature bucks to start moving at all times of the day. I hope anyway, won't get in the woods until Nov. 1st.

The DEC cannot retrieve it and rightfully so... This actually happened to me. I lost a doe I was 17 at the time. I hate the whole thought of refusing someone.I never have or ever will refuse someone, but you have to respect their property and decision.
