My big one (217lbs) was a freak; 8-10 miles north of where I killed him not so much. The biggest killed out of my buddies place in 50+ years until then was 163lbs......

So as mentioned in the 'Goat thread, my wife and I were involved in an accident yesterday in Rochester. I was making a left turn into a restaurant to go to a memorial luncheon and a 21 year old whacked me in the right rear. He took off and gave no indication of stopping as he sped away. He pulled into a Lowe's store and I followed. He exited the car and I was right in front of his, ask WTF man? He got in my face and told me I was making an illegal left turn and I basically had it coming. I told my wife to call 911 as we had a problem...... I explained everything to the dispatcher and told them the kid was being a punk and I figured he'd come out and just leave the parking lot. They said if he did, don't detain him or follow him. They asked me for a description of his car and himself, I obliged. They said the Wayne County sheriff should be there momentarily......... After about ten minutes the kid came out of the store, walking like he had a chip on his shoulder. He walked up and apologized for the entire thing! He said hang on and I'll get my information for you. We exchanged pertinent info and then proceeded to wait for the sheriff. The kid and I had a little conversation during all the waiting; "I told him you think you're a badass punk and it ain't worth it. You have your entire life ahead of you, don't blow it over crap like this". I believe he listened and took it all in. The sheriff finally got there and before they could say anything, I told him that the young man (yea, time heals) apologized and owned up to everything. I could have pressed the "leaving the scene of an accident" but didn't. The kid got a ticket for following to close, that's much better than it could have been. After the LEO left, I made a point of telling him that too. We shook hands and parted.......... Sooooo about an hour ago I went out to the car and did a little poking around. Grabbed some marine fiberglass restorer (works on plastic bumpers too I guess) and a couple towels and lo & behold, the we're 98% damage free. I called the kid and told him, he said he already called his insurance company. I said call 'em back and tell them no claim will be coming from us. He was thrilled! I didn't want to tell him he's still f'ed though as the insurance company knows and he's got the ticket to deal with..........oh well, at least he'll feel good for a bit. Before: After:

All I know is the heaviest I've killed. Although this has been posted here before, I'll do it again...... Scale: Deer: No picture of the scale for this one but he was 203 or 204lbs:
-
What a bunch of sad sacks we are..........
-
Nice looking buck.....
-
Funny thing, those Schnee’s aren’t my heaviest. The new Baffin (rear left) and Hoffman (rear right) are both 7.2lbs on my digital scale.
-
Stack 'em up!
-
Pretty heavy.......too late & tired to weigh them tonight but tomorrow I will.

I didn't make it and I apologize. We had a long difficult day.......instead of listing all the details, I'll do it like this: Very difficult funeral in Fairport NY........accident (minor) on way to memorial luncheon.........one hour waiting shot waiting for Wayne County sheriffs to show up/do police report......can't even go into luncheon as we have appointment to show our trailer in Waterport later in the afternoon.........1/4pounder with cheese and a drink and FLY to Waterport........spend a couple hours with prospective buyer and his wife.......they leave and we had to talk to a friend up there that wanted to know how things were going.......never left there till after 7pm and we were both drained............(buyer didn't buy)........overall it was a bummer of a day. I really thought I could make it to the 'Goat even with the funeral in Rochester. The prospective buyer showing and fender bender were both curve balls tossed at me. I hope those that made it had a good time.

Close but no cigar.......

Maybe Jim Kelly is lurking here and can toss us a clue.......

So what do you wear when it’s supper cold??
-
I have a pair of Schnee’s Extremes. They have held up well; thinking I got these in November 2014 so four hunting seasons on them. They are fairly warm for stand hunting but I still need toe warmers for the longer sits in cold weather. Traction can’t be beat with these.......
-
That's a big help......................
-
Ya, ain’t that the truth!

In my 57 years, ive bought one real “team” hat. It was probably 20 years ago after a big season for the Sabre’s. Now I want the hat the camo hat the coach is wearing at the podium at news conferences. I know it’s stupid money but I want to kill a buck with THAT camo hat on. Surely it’s a New Era but which one?

I was in a development of town houses behind Triple A/Wegmans area on Friday afternoon. A chopper was flying straight east then went west towards home.......low as all get out. I think this one was black with some orange or red in it too. -

Better than having them wander all over stinking the joint up.......... Nothing worse for me than over shooting a stand by 30 yards in the dark during bow season and then figure out I'm standing in a shooting lane. -
